Israeli defense officials told Haaretz on Sunday that the Israeli government is not seeking to revive ceasefire talks with Hamas and is now pushing for the gradual annexation of large portions of the Gaza Strip.
The report came about a week after Israel ordered Palestinians living in northern Gaza to evacuate to areas south of the Netzarim corridor, a strip of land controlled by the Israeli military. With the evacuation order came a major escalation in Israeli military operations in the north focused on the Jabalia refugee camp, which has been under complete siege.
The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth has reported that Israeli forces in Jabalia are carrying out a “scaled-down” version of the “general’s plan,” an outline for the complete ethnic cleansing of northern Gaza and the killing of any Palestinians who choose to stay, whether by military action or starvation. The UN’s World Food Program said Saturday that no food aid has entered northern Gaza since October 1.
Israeli Army commanders told Haaretz that the assault on northern Gaza was ordered without much preparation and that it appeared the primary purpose of the military operations was to pressure Palestinian residents to flee to the south. Many Palestinians have refused to leave northern Gaza since there’s nowhere they can go where their safety can be guaranteed. Israel has bombed so-called “safe zones” repeatedly over the past year.
The Haaretz report said Israeli troops were ordered to launch the assault on Jabalia “even though there was no intelligence to justify the move” and that some members of the Israeli security establishment didn’t support the operation, saying it would endanger the lives of Israeli hostages.
If Israel is successful in cleansing northern Gaza of its Palestinian population, it would pave the way for the establishment of Jewish-only settlements in the area, an idea openly supported by many Israeli ministers and Knesset members. The general’s plan calls for the tactics to be used in other parts of the Strip once the north is cleansed.
What a surprise.
They gave hamas plenty of time to surrender, now they have to do things the hard way. It's sad, but there is a LOT of stupid happening here, and unfortunately, stupid only really answers to the govt. boot and israel has the duty. To end this mess this year, all 3 H's need to go away.
Forum members,
What is the hidden or rather unspoken assumption in Bert's reasoning above?
using the political spectrum for Israel-Palestine support, I am assuming he is a rightist who at the same time is pro-Russia but pro isrel
OOR
a 'centrist'
Bullshit “Bert.” Israel had plenty of time to end its ethnic cleansing and massacres that date back decades. Now they are going to pay the price because there’s no going back. The world will “never again” view the Zionists as victims but instead as the malevolent hypocrites they are. Sure they may destroy Gaza, the WB and much of Lebanon, but the world has finally seen them for what they are and no amount of bribery and pressure from them will matter at some point. You brought it on yourselves.
erm well actaully back in the 1940's Palestine rejected the creation of the 2 state solushion…🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓
and every time until now it was the Palethtinianth attacking Ithrael, not the other way around 🤓🤓🤓🤓
and DONT mention the 6 day war becauthe we all know that egypt wath planning to attack within the next week or 2🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓

Yeesh, I've seen you make some absurd and a-historical claims in the past, but this beats them all.
ok name some times israel has said “Ok y’know what I want some Palestinian blood for absolutely no reason”
and name some other ahistorical claims my ukrainian self has said because odds are i am right
Wasn’t sure if this was satire or not.
Sure, in 1947 Palestinians rejected an offer that gave Jews 55% of the land when they owned 6% of it. Who would have accepted that offer, especially when most of that land was to be given to people who just recently came from another continent?
Actually, the vast majority of times, Palestinian action has been the result of Israeli provocation. You rarely hear about these provocations on CNN or Fox, but if you do a little digging it’s there.
Isn’t the 6 Day War the one where Begin stated “we must be honest with ourselves, Nasaer didn’t attack us, we attacked him”?
There was no “offer.”
UNR 181, once passed, required no one else’s “acceptance,” nor were its terms affected in any way by anyone’s “rejection.”
UNR codifies the borders of Israel and Palestine.
Those were, are, and remain the “legal borders” of Israel and Palestine.
No one has to like it.
Until and unless the UN repeals or modifies UNR 181, that’s how it is whether anyone likes it or not.
UNR 181 was a proposal, kind of like a “offer”, nothing more. Why exactly should the UN have the right to impose conditions on an indigenous people without their input or consent? They didn’t, which is why is wasn’t legally binding. “No one has to like it” and no one has to accept it.

There are invaders and occupiers and then there are who are being invaded and occupied. There who are genocidal and ethnic destroyers then there are those who are victims of genocide and ethnic cleansing.
if only we could figure out how to move this logic over to my country
Whew, thank goodness Israel was holding back for the last year. Moron.
Palestine has the right to defend itself.
does my country?
and I am not negating that Palestine should defend themselves, its just that it shouldn't be under an organisation which made a 20 page manifesto spewing out antisemitic conspiracy theories
UN: Israel “Raping” and “Exterminating” Palestinians to Clear Way for More Illegal Settlements
The latest UN report on Israeli and American efforts to eliminate the state of Palestine concludes that Israel is enacting official policies of “sexual torture” and “extermination” to facilitate the “expansion of Israel’s occupation” and “illegal settlements” both in “the Gaza Strip” and “West Bank.”
Regularly using Palestinians as “human shields,” the UN notes, Israel is systematically “targeting” both “medical facilities and staff” as part of its deliberate effort to wipe out the infrastructure that is necessary to keep the population of Gaza alive.
Specifically, the UN finds that it is Israeli “policy” to “deliberately” “destroy the health-care system of Gaza” in order to “exterminate” large portions of the population.
The “sexual” nature of the Israeli campaign is another aspect of “long-standing practice over the course of the 75-year occupation of Gaza and the West Bank” designed to “dehumanize,” terrorize, drive away, and eliminate the inhabitants.
Israel’s “systematic and institutionalized,” “intentional policy” of “sexual violence” constitutes sexual “hate”-crimes and is linked both “directly and causally to statements made by Israeli officials.” It is further facilitated by “lack of accountability” both for officials and individual perpetrators.
The UN calls on the Government of Israel to “immediately cease the perpetration of rape and other forms of sexual violence,” “immediately cease targeting of medical facilities, staff and vehicles and cease the military use of medical facilities,” immediately “end the siege of Gaza,” “immediately end the unlawful occupation of Palestinian territory, cease all new settlement plans and activities, including in relation to the Gaza Strip, remove all settlements as rapidly as possible, in compliance with the International Court of Justice advisory opinion of July 2024,” and comply with the “Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.”
The UN further calls on all member states of the United Nations to “comply with the Genocide Convention” and the “International Court of Justice advisory opinion and international legal obligations not to recognize” Israel’s “unlawful occupation” nor to “render aid or assistance in maintaining the occupation.”

never denied any of that
good job for ignoring the given statement though
No state has the right to maintain and expand illegal occupation and settlements.
If Israel complies with the above, then we can talk about actual defense.
Until then… what a disgusting thing to defend. You are pathetic.
im not defending it
I'm part Jewish. If Israel stops the rape, extermination, expansion, and pays the required reparations, two state solution works for me. Legal '67 borders.
Do you call on Israel to comply with the UN mandates?
The only “legal” borders of Israel and Palestine are the 1947 borders set in UNR 181.
What’s the 2024 icj opinion then? Bunch of idiots?
The UN Partition Plan of 1947 was a recommendation and was not legally binding. In no way should the world powers and international Jewry have the right to mandate a border (a border that completely screwed the indigenous non-Jews out of half the land when Jews only owned about 6% of it) in a land without consulting the majority indigenous people of that same land. I assume you know this and that’s why you have “legal” in quotes.
The UN General Assembly was not and is not “international Jewry,” and “legality” is not about “rights.”
When did I say the UNGA was “international Jewry”? There’s an “and” in there, Thomas. The UNGA didn’t have the “legality” or “right” to impose the theft of land from one group of people and give it to another.
“Legality” and “right” are two different things. The latter is a philosophical concept. The former is a ruling class prettifying up whatever it wants to do with verbiage.
I get that they are two different things. My point was that the UN clearly didn’t have the moral right, in my estimation, to make a judgement that resulted in indigenous people giving up a large amount of their land but that it’s also irrelevant as they also didn’t have the legal precedent to make other that a recommendation/proposal/suggestion regarding it in the first place, and frankly didn’t pretend to.
i legit said "I am not negating palestines right to defend themselves"
but hamas is an antisemitic terror group bent on the elimination of my religion
Do you call on Israeli settlers to comply with all of the above?
yes
But nothing. Do you call on Israel to comply with the above?
yesxs
Bert, are you a relative of Piers Morgan?
What part of "genocide" don't people get?
Well these days people use the term “self deletion” instead of suicide. As if people are video game characters. So I’m not surprised a bit.
us or them is mindset going back to the cave days
Stealing land from people is what this is all about since 1947!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not even trying to hide it any longer. Waiting for an "assessment" from the state department.
They may need another day off to prepare for this one …
They have to cover their assessments.
So, same as the Nazis wanted in Poland.
Stop using the colonialist word "cleansing" or "cleaning." These are human beings we are talking about. Stick with genocide, extermination, etc.
Latest UN report finds Israel has an official policy of "targeting medical facilities, staff and vehicles" to attempt to facilitate Israel's "settlement plans and activities in relation to the Gaza Strip."

Reality fact:
No one ever "owns" the land, people can only occupy the land.
And they can occupy the land only as long as they can defend it.
Ukraine and now Gaza the latest examples.
what did we do?

Hitler was going to have a 1000 year Reich, Israel will have a 1000 hour Reich.
israel will be out like Nazi Germany
They will see their brutal crimes come around
But I don't want Israel to cease to exist. Thats too much of "fight fire with fire" territory
Israel, in its current configuration cannot continue to exist. Something has to change.
Ideally Muslims, Christians, Jews, Zoroastrians, atheists, and everyone else should be able to live next to each other in relative peace, as was the case for over 500 years before the European invasion. Unfortunately for that to happen the extremists on both sides need to go away, forever. I propose we dump the lot of them in the middle of the Negev Desert with swords and spears and let them kill each other to their heart's content.

cmon wheres the news on how its our fault for getting invaded?
Saying Death to Netanyahu gets kind of boring after 12 1/3 months of war
Okay now we’re getting somewhere. If Israel complies, returns to legal borders, and pays required reparations, I’ll be on their side if they keep getting attacked.
ok good
now but when have reperations solved anything?
genuine question
Should Germany not have paid reparations to Jews, Romani, etc?
It's a normal part of the criminal justice process. Doesn't erase what's been done but helps move forward.
