Israeli Airstrikes in Lebanon Kill at Least 46 in 24 Hours

Over 1,400 have been killed in Lebanon since Israel escalated its bombing campaign in September

The Lebanese Health Ministry has said that Israeli strikes in Lebanon on Wednesday killed at least 46 people and wounded 85.

“The Israeli enemy’s raids in the past twenty-four hours on towns and villages in southern Lebanon, Nabatieh, Bekaa, Baalbek-Hermel, and Mount Lebanon resulted in a total death toll of 46 people and 85 injuries,” the ministry wrote on X on Thursday, just after midnight Beirut time.

Over 1,400 people, including many civilians, have been killed in Lebanon since Israel escalated in September. The Lebanese government said Wednesday that 1.2 million people have been displaced by the Israeli offensive.

Israeli airstrikes hit targets across Lebanon on Wednesday amid fierce clashes in the south between invading Israeli soldiers and Hezbollah fighters. At least eight Israeli soldiers have been killed so far.

Israel has been expanding its strikes on Beirut outside of Dahiyeh, the southern suburb that Israel usually targets. Early Thursday, Israeli strikes hit central Beirut, killing at least six people.

The strike in central Beirut targeted the Bachoura neighborhood, which is near Lebanon’s parliament. According to Reuters, the Israeli attack was the closest one yet to the seat of the Lebanese government, which has been calling for a ceasefire.
