Gaza’s Health Ministry said Wednesday that Israel’s assault on the Gaza Strip killed at least 28 Palestinians and wounded 85 in the previous 24-hour period.
The violence brings the Health Ministry’s death toll since October 7, 2023, to 41,495 and the number of wounded to 96,006. The figures are considered an undercount since they don’t account for thousands of missing Palestinians who are presumed to be dead under the rubble, and it’s not known how many indirect deaths have been caused by the Israeli siege.
“There are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the streets, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them,” the ministry said on Telegram. The post added a link for Palestinians to report family members who are missing.
Israeli strikes over the past day included the bombing of a house in Hay al-Nasr, a town to the northeast of the southern city of Rafah. According to Al Jazeera, the attack killed a mother and her five children.
The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported the Israeli shelling of a house in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza killed at least six people, including three children and a woman who was seven months pregnant. “
Last week, Gaza’s Health Ministry released the names of 34,344 Palestinians who have been killed by Israeli forces, including 11,355 children. Among the children were 710 infants who did not make it to their first birthday.
The Biden administration continues to support the genocidal slaughter in Gaza by providing weapons to the Israeli military. A senior Israeli Air Force official recently acknowledged that without the US military aid, Israel would not be able to sustain operations in Gaza for more than a few months.
