Hezbollah on Wednesday confirmed that one of its most senior military commanders, Fuah Shukr, was killed by an Israeli airstrike that hit a residential building in the southern suburbs of Beirut on Tuesday.
Lebanese sources told Reuters that Shukr’s body was found in the rubble on Wednesday evening, and at least two women and two children were also killed in the strike.
Shukr, also known as Hajj Mohsen, was a founding member of Hezbollah. According to Lebanon’s Al Mayadeen, he was one of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah’s closest advisors.
Hezbollah said that Nasrallah would respond to the Israeli attack in a speech at Shukr’s funeral on Thursday. “As for our political stance on this sinful aggression and great crime, it will be expressed by Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah tomorrow in the martyred leader’s funeral procession,” the Lebanese group said.
Israel said it targeted Shukr in response to the rocket that killed 12 Druze children in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Hezbollah denied responsibility for the strike and blamed it on an Israeli air defense rocket.
Druze residents of the Golan Heights, who mostly consider themselves Syrian, rejected the idea of retaliation for the killing of the 12 children. “Based on our Arab, Islamic, monotheistic beliefs, we reject that a single drop of blood be shed in the name of revenge for our children,” said the Religious and Temporal Commission in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, according to Middle East Eye.
Now, what if Iran speeds up putting together several nukes? What if the "tests" are conducted at Tel Aviv and the most important military base in Israel? What if Hezbollah finally hits the chlorine and ammonia plants in Israel? What if jihadist from all over the region flock to the region, West Bank first? There are a lot of "what ifs". The big one is will the Biden administration (he is still the president) decide to put carriers and American soldiers in harms way? Putin was enraged at the assassination in Iran. Things are f*cked at so many levels.
Iran would never do that. Also, Iran doesn’t need to build any nukes cause they may have bought some during the early 90’s.
I think you may be thinking of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, rumoured to have given Pakistan cash-in-advance for nuclear devices if / when they want some ?
No. Saudis don’t need them either. If Saudis ever to get nuked by Israel, Pakistan would auto retaliate. After all you can’t destroy Mecca and Medina and get away with it.
Don't NEED them, no. But the KSA could have them in a week (free shipping next-day if they have Pakistan Prime) so even though the KSA, like Japan, Canada. Brazil etc, have "breakout capacity", they don't need to telegraph a "dash for the Bomb" when they could outsource.
Besides, the DPRC has gone a long way to normalise ties between the ASI and KSA (at least until Gazacide 2k024 started) so the Saudis have only the "far enemy" of the IRI, and the Persian Gulf isn't the tank highway people feared the Iraqi border was in 1990.
I can only see that happen if Iran openly states they have them.
The way to resolve this seems relatively simple to me. Give the Palestinians a true free, fair homeland and then everyone make peace deals together and work constructively together in peace. Get all your lives back in order! Learn to forgive each other and promise each other to live in peace and friendship because both sides have had a tough time of it….Peace is the obvious choice, followed by prosperity, which you can all truly get because the whole world will want to celebrate with all of you all!!!
Israel is a rogue state. Israel should be excommunicated across the entire spectrum, declared persona non grata. Israel should be kicked out of the UN, as the Israeli government has obviously demonstrated that it has no regard whatsoever for the rights of others.
Let the Apartheid State of Israel be like the DPRK – a weird cult-y place that nobody especially wants to be around until maybe someday when its government and society changes for the better. Until that time, keep it at arm's length and ignore its tantrums.
Dear Uncle, I'm with you on the overwhelming majority of your shares. But, "the DPRK – a weird cult-y place" comment seemed a bit incongruent and hit me on the side of the head like a 2×4. See, to me, that country you mentioned, already takes the maximum award for the most "weird cult-y place" ever! The DPRK does not even measure up and the scale for appropriate comparison hasn't been invented yet.
Och, Not Applicable, yae bonny Scotsman ! You have me there !
Love you, Uncle!
My world is better with you in it.
You are too kind 😊
You just said blah blah blah to Israel, U.S and U.K. And they don’t speak blah.
