During a visit to Washington on Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant responded to the UN Security Council passing a resolution that called for a Ramadan ceasefire in Gaza, saying Israel had “no moral right” to stop its brutal military operations.
“We have no moral right to stop the war in Gaza until we return all the hostages to their homes. If we don’t reach a clear and absolute victory in Gaza, it could bring a war in the north closer,” Gallant said.
While Gallant signaled Israel could stop if all the hostages are released, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly said his goal is to “eradicate” Hamas, which US and Israeli intelligence believes is unrealistic. Israel has also refused to engage with Hamas’s demand for a deal that would free all Israeli hostages in exchange for a permanent ceasefire and the release of Palestinian prisoners.
The UN Security Council resolution called for the unconditional release of hostages but didn’t make it a condition for a ceasefire. Gallant called the resolution “scandalous” and said he would tell National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan “the importance of bringing down the Hamas regime.”
Gallant said he would use his time in the US to push for more support for the Israeli military. “I am now opening my visit to Washington as a representative of the State of Israel and on behalf of the Government of Israel. I came here to clarify the need to strengthen the IDF and strengthen the State of Israel,” he said.
Netanyahu canceled another Israeli delegation to Washington in response to the US not vetoing the Security Council resolution. The delegation was supposed to discuss Israel’s plans to attack the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Despite the US expressing concerns, Netanyahu has vowed to launch a full-scale assault on the city, which would incur huge civilian casualties.
Another one of their hostages died of starvation due to the Israeli imposed famine.
I’m sure there is deep moral concern. /s
They call Hamas “terrorists” and “animals” but for some reason they think their hostages will be fed by those same terrorists and animals while the Palestinians starve to death.
i will predict that there are not any real hostages.
They released all the civilians. What they have now are IDF and police, so POWs.
Now watch the traitors of DC back up this psychopath.
Yes, but after all, their loyalty to the US is secondary … at best.
It’s all the same oligarchy.
“Slaughter?” Ah, is a word Israel should know very well as millions have been slaughtered and never should be again. Think on that and see, simply see and feel the light and hear the words of the father and the son…
If there is a Hell, the Israeli leadership would be the First to inaugurate it…!
No clear victory in South… So yes, the north is awaiting your invasion…!
It’s all beyond our abilities to help or stop the atrocities, and complaining does no good to solve anything. If anybody has a plan, please let me know.
What you can boycott, do. But it will take concerned nations to stop interaction with Israel.
Someone else’s idea on MoA:
1. What does it take for a UN Member State to be removed, either from UNSC or UNGA?
2. What would it take to give Palestine full membership immediately?

1. Shahid Bolsen at Middle Nation has been working to get US kicked out through Art.6
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR British Citizens and UK Residents:
We now have a petition set up on UK Goverment site.
This means we have 6 months to get 100K signatures – at which point UK government will debate the petition in Parliament.
Here it is:
*Petition seeking to expel USA from the UN using Article 6 of the UN Charter*
We believe the USA has persistently violated the principles of the UN Charter, both with and without its veto power, including by vetoing motions relating to Palestine, including calls for an immediate ceasefire.
*More details* :
We want the Government to raise our voices and invoke Article 6 – to seek to expel the USA from the United Nations.
Article 6 allows for any member of the UN to be expelled – even if they sit on the Security Council – for persistently violating the principles of the United Nations. Expulsion under Article 6 is decided by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council. *We believe the UN is in need of fundamental reform so it can properly and fairly represent the nations of the world and ensure global justice, peace and friendly relations between all peoples including, but not limited to the people of Palestine. We think expelling the USA from the UN is the first necessary step in this process..*
At *10,000* signatures, government will respond to this petition
At *100,000* signatures, this petition will be considered for debate in Parliament
Please sign and share this petition now! https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/658417
Other countries’ citizens could get petitions going too in their respective countries. Israel holds the world record for most resolutions violated.
2. 139/193 UN member states already recognise Palestine. But to be admitted, Security Council must back a request to be sent to General Assembly. That means 9 votes in favour and no vetoes at UNSC….

As I said many times before, Israeli policy has a metaphysical basis and cannot be understood through simple reason and logic.
Historians say four million jews were killed by Hitler…! Israel is determine to equate that by killing Palestinians, and other Arabs and anti-Israeli people no matter where they come from…! It could take centuries…!
” I came here to clarify the need to strengthen the IDF…”
In other words, to insure that the US will back the IDF when it invades Lebanon. People are entirely missing the point of all these back and forth visits to the US. It’s being done to arrange the widening of the war. The tiff with Netanyahu is just a cover story. Even if many in Washington don’t like Netanyahu personally, they still intend to widen the war.
They have to. The US can’t allow Iran to keep solidifying its position in the region and its alliance with China and Russia and its potential to control the Persian Gulf in event of a war with Russia or China, nor allow the Yemenis to control the Red Sea movement of shipping. The US can’t “pivot to China” without controlling the Middle East.
So the US has to widen the war and take on all the Axis of Resistance in order to achieve its geopolitical goals of hegemony. Just as attacking Russia was a geopolitical necessity for the US, so is attacking the Middle East.
And just as attacking Russia has failed, so the US will fail in the Middle East. Whether it will have any strength left to attack China afterward is problematic.
They’re probably as worried about the rising influence of China in the region as they are about Iran. China brokered peace between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and between Iran and the UAE, and a ceasefire in Yemen. They’ve also signed an agreement with the Saudis to trade in their respective currencies rather than use the US Dollar, which opened the opportunity for Iran and India to start negotiations to do the same.
That’s fine, Israel, I’m sure Russia which is supported by most here, supports your “no moral right” as well. I mean, they have to, there’s no moral right to end the war in Ukraine.
So you, Israel, are indirectly getting supported no matter what.
