Yemen’s Houthis have assured Russia and China that their ships won’t be attacked while transiting the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea during recent talks in Oman, Bloomberg reported on Thursday.
The report said that in exchange for the assurances, China and Russia may provide political support at the UN Security Council as they’re both permanent members and can veto resolutions.
The Houthis, officially known as Ansar Allah, have not targeted Chinese or Russian ships, but Beijing and Moscow were likely looking for assurances as the situation in the region has been escalating since the US and UK began bombing Yemen in January.
Since the US started the new bombing campaign, the Houthis expanded the scope of their targets to American and British commercial shipping. Previously, the Yemeni group said it was only targeting Israel-linked shipping.
The Houthis have made clear that they would only stop their attacks on commercial shipping once the Israeli onslaught in Gaza comes to an end. Some US officials have acknowledged the Houthis would likely be true to their word, but instead of pressuring Israel to agree to a ceasefire, the US has opted for escalation.
The US backed a brutal Saudi/UAE war against the Houthis from 2015-2022 that involved heavy airstrikes and a blockade, and the Houthis only became more of a capable fighting force during that time.
The war killed at least 377,000 people, with more than half dying of starvation and disease caused by the siege. A ceasefire between the Houthis and Saudis has held relatively well since April 2022, but new US sanctions are now blocking the implementation of a lasting peace deal.
Way to go Houthis!!!
And if for some reason, you f that up, just blame it on the West and you’ll be fine. China and Russia will believe you and move on.
“The US backed a brutal Saudi/UAE war against the Houthis from 2015-2022 that involved heavy airstrikes and a blockade, and the Houthis only became more of a capable fighting force during that time.”
That sounds like what just happened to Ukrainians. Putin made them stronger.
Looks like WW3 will be the Neo-Con empire vs the rest of the planet
Bless the Hout’hi for standing up for Palestine. They are fighters beyond which the world has ever seen. For more information about their activity, please see Scott Ritter’s comments on his various YouTube videos (Hint: he’s a big fan.)
I think YouTube banned his channel as a result.
Yes, give high praise for Houthis killing sailors from the Philippines.
Collateral damage to stop a genocide.
Here’s what the US is doing while everybody is cussing the Houthis: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GJLamTuWwAAhZbT?format=jpg&name=medium
China had prepared itself. Unsinkable manmade island bases. China too could cease exports to unfriendly countries and Americans will turn into misers and even pay an arm and a leg at a yard sale for a used home appliance.
Why have peace when you can have war all over the world? We’re exceptional because we start wars everywhere, while we think we’re morally superior.
Since the Houthis don’t pay for the missiles and they don’t care about the small number of their troops that get killed, they will continue the attacks. If US and UK want to stop the attacks they need to hit the Houthis hard and hit something they care about.
“hit the Houthis hard”… They can use multiple missiles on the same blind target…! That would be Hard…!
Sure, maybe the US can bomb their qat crops, that’ll teach them a thing or two!
Or they could do the easy thing which would bring them back within the rule of international law and shut off weapons shipments to Israel. Without a constant flood of arms the offensive would grind to a halt, there’d be be a ceasefire so Ansar Allah would stop attacking shipping. A win all around, can’t have that.
If that’s how they wanna roll, we should find and arm a militant group that will.
Or better yet the US can instruct their IDF to stop killing civilians in Gaza? Here is the latest brave IDF killing unarmed teens with a military drone, for just walking along in the dirt. Your tax dollars hard at work.

We don’t intruct anyone to do anything. I’ve asked Biden not to supply weapons, he doesn’t take orders from me. This tells me one of two things:
1. He’s a spineless POS only interested int his own preservation of power and that’s why he keeps stating he’s against the war as he supplies weapons. To get reelected.
2. He has intelligence that’s led us to believe WWIII has started and that Russia and China have offensive planned, and they are building up for it. This would be the buffer zone for Israel that serves a similar role as Ukraine in Europe. And Taiwan will in the Indo Pacific.
3. I wouldn’t expect someone that is a communist China or Russia lover to have enough bandwidth their brainwashed minds to think, so I don’t expect you to.
Israel is a “buffer zone” to prevent Russia and China from doing, well, what? Do you not have access to a map of the world on that machine you wrote that post on? And do you really think that a country which hasn’t attacked anyone outside of its immediate borders since the 15th century and another that has an economy the size of Mexico are really out to conquer the world?
No silly, Iran of course, would be at that front. Russia will be in Ukraine. China will be the indo-pacific front. It’s not to say that I know for a fact that this is what happened or will happened. Rather it would explain why the US is tolerating and supplying Israel with weapons as they say another. Yes, despite the coupe, Russia invaded Ukraine, a sovereign nation. I do place a lot of that blame on the US, but, at the end of the day. Putin pulled the trigger.
Taiwan – The least elections all but cemented it. China will invade Ukraine if we can’t supply enough weaponry to make it an extremely risky and embarrassing moment for Xi. Taiwan is much more capable than you might think, and have learned from Ukraine and switched strategies to small mobile anti aircraft weapons. Our defense agreement with Marcos in the Phillipines also allows us to engage quickly if they do.
Isreal – Sure seemed like a false flag operation to me. I have no doubt in my mind, they knew the attack was coming, allowed it to occur after ignoring intelligence(our 911) to achieve their greater long term political goals. But it’s no coincidence that they used Iranian weapons. Probably in large part, this occurred because the sanctions ended with no deal. Which I pin on the Trump administration, almost completely. I think this is payback from Bibi, it’s hurting Biden more than anything else in the election. Regardless, if anyone has a motivation for ending this it’s Joe Biden. Yet he doesn’t. He pays us lip service, as he continues to supply weapons at the same clip. I think there is something we don’t know. I can only guess, it might be related to intelligence we don’t have access too. Or maybe, Biden just doesn’t want to hurt the arms dealers. I feel horrible for the people of Gaza, and Ukraine. The pawns in the game in the middle or all of this, paying the price for us.
China actually likes Taiwan as it is. They’re China’s main source of military and corporate intel, a handy money laundry, and a convenient source of high tech equipment. Twenty eight percent of Taiwan’s exports go to China, and another 14% to Hong Kong. The US buys slightly less than Hong Kong, so while their government may make affirmative noises they’re not going to upset the wealthy who really run the country.
“We don’t intruct anyone to do anything.”
We supply Israel’s weapons. We don’t have to “instruct” them to do anything.
Well thanks for making my point. I’m no more responsible for it than anyone else is.
Is that what you think I did?
It’s what I know.
Did you see what happened to to the group of radicals that tried to storm Washingington DC? The only difference between here and Russia in that regard is that their family gets to live, as they die slowly.
To be expected, since China and Russia aren’t the ones causing all the trouble in the region.
No, only in the Ukraine region.
Dr. Finkelstein yesterday, paraphrased, if they were handing out nobel peace prizes, 1. They should go to the doctors who risk(ed) their lives to care for patients in Gaza, 2. South Africa, who stood up to genocide at the international court and continue to do so, and 3., The Houthis for taking the international requirement/obligation and commitment to stop genocide seriously, and actively, when it is perpetrated anywhere.

China and Russia should be aware that their ships could be targeted by US led anti-Houthi navel coalition and later be blamed on Houthis…!
