The House will vote on a bill this week to provide $17.6 billion in new military aid to Israel to support the mass killing of Palestinians in Gaza.
The House previously passed a $14.3 billion resolution for Israel but cut funds to the Internal Revenue Service, so it didn’t receive support from Democrats and was never brought to the Senate floor for a vote.
The new bill adds over $3 billion for Israel and does not include spending cuts. Over in the Senate, negotiators reached a deal on border policy to advance a behemoth $110 spending bill that includes military aid for Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan. However, many Republicans are unhappy with the deal, and Johnson criticized Senate leadership for not including the House in negotiations.
“Their leadership is aware that by failing to include the House in their negotiations, they have eliminated the ability for swift consideration of any legislation,” Johnson said on Saturday. “Next week, we will take up and pass a clean, standalone Israel supplemental package.”
According to the House Appropriations Committee, the $17.6 billion includes funds to replenish Israel’s missile systems, provide Israel with advanced weapons systems, and produce more bombs and artillery shells. It also provides funding to replenish US stockpiles of weapons that have already been sent to Israel.
The $17.6 billion is on top of the $3.8 billion Israel receives from the US each year. The US has also shipped a huge amount of munitions and other weapons to support the slaughter in Gaza, which has killed over 27,000 Palestinians, including over 11,500 children.
The International Court of Justice’s ruling that it’s “plausible” Israel is committing genocide has not deterred US support. According to Ynet, over 25,000 tons of US weapons have been delivered to Israel since October 7.
$14.3 billion with cuts to $17.6 billion with no cuts. And stand alone. They really want this to be a no brainer. The phones must have been ringing off their hooks and you know who was calling. Starts with an A, ends with a C and has a P (as in Parasite) in the middle.
Sponsoring a genocide while bombing someone for sponsoring a militia that killed 3 people.
Those three were militaries who came to a foreign country without invitation. One can’t compare them to Palestinian children who did nothing wrong ever.
Also, a military should assume that in a foreign country where US forces were not invited or are explicitly requested to leave -/-US military casulties are expected. We are behaving as if some innocent tourists were killed by terrirists.
There are probably discussions happening inside the Biden administration between those who DO want to pull out, and those who do not. I take this as a good omen, and a possible opportunity to finally break one of the legs that support the neocon bench.
I got confused myself, so I want to correct your typo.
I think you meant to say “Those three were ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐”
Also, so much for 90% of the Republicans who claim they are “fiscal conservatives”
It is the same kind of politicians what Germany had 80 years ago. Actually, even worse.
I am thinking more 1930’s Japan. Must create greater American co-prosperity sphere and install puppet government in Manchukuo
I am amazed at media illiteracy on Court decision. โPlausibleโ is an initial assessment based on presented data by South Africa and others that joined the motion.
โPlausibleโ stands for the courtโs decision that South Aftican case HAS MERITS., and the court is taking on the case.
Because the case has merit, Court ordered Israel to allow food and medicine to enter Gaza, to punish military for acts of genocide and all those calling for genicide. This order means NOW, not waiting for Courtโs final decision.
All the evidence from now on is submitted to the court by South Africa and all those that joined the motion.
In one month after the decision, Israel is ordered to show to court that it is complying.
Keep in mind that witnesses against Israel will testify as the case moves forward. This will include African countries that were in conversation with Israel on removing Palestinians into third countries. Will include Egyptโs testimony on the pressure to allow building tent cities in Sunai desert. This can be very uncomfortable to many US officialls that were part of the pressure.
The court will hear also all the practices by Israeli authorities in magaging occupied territories over decades to determine if they are genocidal in nature.
It is also significant that South Sfrican lawyers wee jouned by a lawyer from Ireland in making the case, In the light of Irish politicians speaches, be that domestically, or in European Parliament, one can assume Vatican support. Clerly visible from other forms of public acts, such as City of Barcelona and others.
This is and will increasingly become a high stake political battle played out on local, national and international stage.
As contrary to US desire NOT to expand the conflict, it is actually happening. And increasingly, our reaction is to bomb all real or perceived Israel enemies in order to frighten them into ceasing their attacks. Particularly Yemen, as Yemen justified its declaration of war on Israel as the duty under Genocide conventions to ACTIVELY. fight against genocide. US is therefore not protecting shipping, as claimed, but responding to Yemenโs declaration of war, and in defense of Israel,
Will it work? Or will our presence in Iraq and Syria prove to be the tripwire we inadvertently created?
So far, our approach is to dig deaper. And hope something gives. Does not look good. From Ukraine to Taiwan, strategic initiative is gone,
Once the war ends, this will all become secondary news and no one will care.
What a crock of sh-t! Billion and billions for WAR but not Peace?!
Here is a crazy idea. Let’s insist that Israeli citizens pay US income taxes that are proportionate to the amount of military aid we send them. As long as the people of Israel don’t face consequences for these gifts, I think we can assume that Israel will ask for the moon.
Also, I wish that someone like Seymore Hersch to follow the money to find out if it is finding its way to the pockets of people who should not be receiving it.
The Anti-Israel clad will go nuts when this aid arrives. Genocide here, a genocide there, every where there is a genocide except when Israelian troops, citizens and US troops get killed. Than it is heroic resistance.
The reason for this is that genocide has a specific legal definition. South Africa proved, at least to the ICJ, a prima facie case that genocide was likely occurring. If certain people in Israel or the U.S. feel like there is a genocide being perpetrated against them they are free to bring it up with the ICJ.
There are 330 million people in the US. The population of Gaza was 2.3 million before the onslaught started. Multiply the dead, the wounded, those in famine and those displaced in Gaza by 150 and tell me if those numbers would qualify as an ongoing genocide in your mind. Over 3 million dead, over 10 million wounded, 80 million in famine and around 300 million displaced. Of course, there would be no world left because the US would have shot its load of nukes long before those numbers even got to the numbers that Gaza has suffered.
Speaker Johnson should call this Bill, Slaughtering Palestinians Bill, because that is what the weapons are for. I hope Speaker Johnson get’s named as an accessory for aiding and abetting Genocide in Gaza. Americans need to face the truth, our Government 100% complicit in the Genocide of Palestinians and we will be known as a Nation of War Criminals.
“negotiators reached a deal on border policy to advance a behemoth $110 spending bill that includes military aid for Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan.”
Unless Rand Paul introduced the Bill, I’m pretty sure it’s $110 billion dollars, not $110.
Congress should be referring to this bill as the “Genocide Bill.”
It means every US Congressman who votes for this bill needs to be charged by the International Criminal Court as a co-defendant in Israel’s genocide of Palestinians.
Not that it matters. The Axis of Resistance, with now almost overt support from Russia, China and Turkey, are intent upon removing both the US and Israel from the Middle East.
See Pepe Escobar on Danny Haiphong’s Youtube channel. Pepe is in Moscow and just had talks with senior Russian officials which convinced him that Russia and China are supporting the Axis of Resistance (morally, at least, if not physically – yet.) This is a must-watch despite the hour and a half length.

Israel is one of the wealthiest nations, yet they can’t fund their military and the settlers on the WB, they need American taxpayers to foot their military expenses. Time to demilitarize Israel. The US and EU combined can’t go on funding the luxury of the wars the Israelis can’t afford.
โTheir leadership is aware that by failing to include the House in their negotiations, they have eliminated the ability for swift consideration of any legislation,โ Johnson said on Saturday. โNext week, we will take up and pass a clean, standalone Israel supplemental package.โ
Article 1, Section 7 of the US Constitution states: “All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills”
Johnson needs to understand that what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. The Senate doesn’t have to rubber stamp legislation that originated in the House. It could very well be the case that the Senate did NOT consult with Johnson because they are ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ what they think ought to be included or excluded if he expects the Senate to approve his own version of the legislation.
If Johnson wants to take on Mitch McConnell, he had better think twice.
Thanks Duane for tis info. And thanks for paying attention.
How about NO MORE raping of the American taxpayers! Vote anyone out of office who sends one dime abroad.
America’s roads are a mess and our infrastructure is falling apart.
FJB the criminal and his criminal drug crazed son!
If we are spending so much for the support of Zionism, should the subject not be debated and clarified? Are we afraid of being called anti-Semitic if we do not support it? What are we really supporting? In fact we are supporting an ideology which advocates displacing one population and replacing it with another that wants to create a new country for itself. Maybe we should think about whether this is really a worthy, not to say feasible, cause.
Israel is finished with Gaza, defeated…! The new military aid is meant for confrontation with Hezbollah…!
All that money spent and a mere pittance for taxpayers. “Heres a 200 dollar security grant slick, get ya a couple cheap cameras for your business on us, just file this paperwork and wait 6 months for the money!”
Israel is a sovereign nation with a strong economy.
Standard & Poor’s credit rating for Israel stands at AA-
They can borrow money and buy their own weapons.
Considering USA is bankrupt, why should the US taxpayer be on the hook for Israel’s weapons?
The US Congress has signed up for genocide. They have not only dragged America into the gutter, but they’re now stomping all over it. People had better put “anti-war” on the top of their list when it’s time to vote. Don’t take the “wedge issue” bait — abortion is NOT as important as genocide, and who’s on the Supreme Court doesn’t matter if we’re a nation of lawless genocide promoters. Vote anti-war, or don’t bother voting.
What the precious wants, the precious gets.
I can feel a hand creeping into my pocket in order to fund the commission of atrocities.
