Iran has vowed a “harsh response” to the bombing in the southeastern Iranian city of Kerman that killed at least 103 people, including women and children, but has not formally attributed blame for the attack.
The bombing targeted a memorial commemorating the fourth anniversary of the US killing of Iranian Quds Force Commander Qasem Soleimani, who was targeted by a US drone strike in Baghdad on January 3, 2020. Iranian officials have said two separate bombs were placed in bags on the side of a road leading to a cemetery where a large crowd of people was heading.
“The evil and criminal enemies of the Iranian nation once again created a disaster and martyred a large number of dear people in Kerman,” Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said in a statement. “This disaster will have a harsh response, God willing.”
Israel is a suspect in the bombing since it has a history of conducting sabotage attacks, assassinations, and drone attacks inside Iran and recently killed a senior Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) commander in Syria, as well as a senior Hamas official in Beirut. Israel also appears to be attempting to provoke a regional war that would draw in the US.
But the scale of the bombing was bigger than anything Israel has carried out inside Iran in the past. US officials are pointing to ISIS as a potential culprit, as the group has also carried out attacks inside Iran in recent years and was an enemy of Soleimani.
The Iranian mission to the UN hinted Israel could have been responsible in a post on X. “The fear of the Zionist regime & its puppet terrorist groups of Martyr Soleimani led to another crime in Kerman during his commemoration ceremony,” the mission said. “Iran will respond with fire & fury to the orchestrators, perpetrators, & anyone who’s aided & abetted in this terrorist attack.”
Iranian Ambassador to the UN Amir Saeid Iravani said in a letter to top UN officials that “comprehensive investigations are currently underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators and organizers behind this premeditated and appalling crime.”
As Max Blumenthal mentioned in his Napolitano appearance today, the M.E.K. is a likely suspect, as they are financed and supported by Israel and the US. If so, they can expect an Iranian missile barrage on their camps in Iraq, or wherever they’re currently hiding. It’s about time that terrorist group were exterminated.
It’s likely Iran will organize some retaliation against Israel and the US, probably through the Houthis or Hezbollah, not that either of those need any further motivation. But Iran will not likely act directly against either the US or Israel, as that is the trap the US and Israel have set for Iran – a trap, however, that once spring will result in a US and Israeli defeat of epic proportions.
Iran can just sit back and let Israel and the USA self-destruct! That’s exactly the path those two nations have taken! Israel and the USA will eventually realize that, yes indeed, the world outside of the USA and Israel has a “right to self-defense” too!
I looked up M.E.K. and all I found is Methyl Ethyl Ketone. Seems unlikely to be the culprit here.
Here you go:

Thank you.
LOL. When I was a young engineer I worked for Union Carbide and I was on Methyl Ethyl Ketone manufacturing team.
and it is poisonous
Yes, MEK, like most ketones, is poisonous.
Western democracies are controlled by gangs of criminals.
They used to use helicopter accidents to kill heads of state they did not like. Normally they are left leaning elected officials.
No country ever received the promised blessings neoliberal economics and democracy would bring.
“Tehran has not officially attributed blame for the attack.” Me too. It’s definitely “shrouded in darkness.” Who could it be? …It could be the “Lord of the Sith,” for all I know.
If it was ISIS or MEK, it was formulated by Israel…!
If it was ISIS or MEK, it was formulated by Israel/US.
Fixed.
I always enjoy brilliance and simplicity…!
I enjoy your posts, as much as I enjoy my own wars.
Totally kewl!
Of course Iran government will blame the US and/or Israel. Clearly unrest exist in Iran. That is not a good thing. Hopefully Iran’s leaders will not create an intranational problem to try to unite Iran. They would not be the first country to try that.
If they’re the manifest hitlerian evil you appear to believe of them then isn’t it likely they bombed their own citizens for that purpose? Or knew it would happen and allowed it? Like Roosevelt Pearl Harbor. Or Netanyahu 10/7.
I never said the government bombed their own. What I said, is that there is clearly unrest in that country. And history has shown that sometimes, a government in power tries to united the country by getting involved in an external event.
As for Roosevelt Pearl Harbor, that is just nuts.
ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack, and neither God or the Devil aeem to have a handle on that mysterious bunch.. It was one time believed that it was formed by Saddam Hyssein’s unemployed mikitary elite, but, who knows?
