Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said Tuesday that Ukraine is unlikely to win the war against Russia and that the only way the conflict can end is through a deal between the US and Russia.
“Looking at the reality, the figures, the surroundings, the fact that NATO is not ready to send troops, it is obvious that there is no victory for the poor Ukrainians on the battlefield. That’s my position,” Orban said at the Qatar Economic Forum in Doha, according to Al Jazeera.
“The war can be stopped only if the Russians can make an agreement with the US. In Europe, we are not happy with that, but it’s the only way out,” Orban added.
The Hungarian government’s calls for diplomacy and a ceasefire in Ukraine have angered the US, as the White House has previously come out against a pause in fighting. The US ambassador to Hungary recently slammed Budapest’s calls for peace, calling them “cynical.”
Orban’s position breaks from most European leaders, but he emphasized his concern for Ukrainians, including ethnic Hungarians who are being conscripted to fight in Ukraine. “Our hearts are with the Ukrainians. We understand how much has happened,” he said. “But I am speaking here as a politician, and the solution is to save lives.”
Yes Orban, but there’s profits to be made, bombs to be sold, tax payers to extort as they drive their over priced cars, with over priced fuel, on roads that needed repaving 20 years ago. Don’t lose sight of the mission. More for them, less for you, me, and everyone else.
If the only hope for peace is for the US to behave like a responsible, reasonable adult, the world had better place its hopes in a different path to peace. And there are plenty of constructive ways forward, including not using dollars and not engaging with the US diplomatically.
U.S. knows the end of the empire coming. But if they break the global scale, they hope it’ll be a stalemate and that somehow will translates into as a win for the west.
End of the U.S. Empire will be rough for the U.S., but it’s going to be a whole lot rougher for other countries that are U.S-reliant and own U.S. treasuries.
Plus, the U.S. still has its enviable geography and if they can bring more jobs back on shore via subsidies, then the multipolar world is going to be just fine for America.

Multipolar world will destroy U.S. as a global power. The dollar only works if everyone is still trading it around the world. But with over 80 countries signing up to join the BRICS system next month, the dollar will go the way of the dodo and as well as U.S. influence. A WW3 is the only solution.
There’s never not been a multipolar world.
Not as dominating. Prior to that was the British Empire.
There goes Viktor Orban talking about reality of things. Doesn’t he understand reality has no place in the minds of delusional people?
He’s right, which is a huge problem, because the US is incapable of making any deal.
It can’t be trusted. It won’t talk, but if it did nobody of sense would listen anyway.
Russia sure burned through a lot of Ukraine’s Army (50,000?) to take that city while using their version of the foreign legion to do it.
How many more of these cities do Ukraine have in them?
We are now using accounting tricks to “find” money for more arms (so it appears the candy factory might be running out of money to pay for more goodies) so just how many more of these cities do we have in us as well?
How much more does Russia have left? They’ve hardly looked like heavyweight they’re supposed to be.
Precisely.
