Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Tuesday said that Moscow was open to talks with Western powers as Turkey is looking to broker negotiations.
Lavrov also said that Russia would consider a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Biden if one was proposed. “We have repeatedly said that we never refuse meetings. If there is a proposal, then we will consider it,” he said.
A potential venue for talks between Biden and Putin could be the sidelines of the upcoming summit of G20 leaders that will be held in mid-November in Indonesia. But according to Lavrov, Russia has not received any serious proposals from the US to negotiate.
The US was quick to dismiss Lavrov’s comments, accusing him of “posturing” and calling for Russia to stop launching strikes across Ukraine. “We see this as posturing. We do not see this as a constructive, legitimate offer to engage in the dialogue and diplomacy that is absolutely necessary to see an end to this brutal war of aggression,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said.
Despite the US dismissal of potential talks, Turkey appears eager to broker negotiations between the two sides. The Kremlin said that Putin will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday, and it’s “possible” that the two leaders will discuss a Turkish proposal to host talks between the West and Russia.
Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar spoke with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Shoigu, on Tuesday and noted a “common understanding” when it came to the need to reach a ceasefire, the Turkish Defense Ministry said.
“The importance of declaring a ceasefire urgently in order to prevent further loss of lives and to re-establish peace and stability in the region was emphasized, and it was gladly observed that there was a common understanding regarding the ceasefire,” the Turkish Defense Ministry said in a readout of the call.
While there are growing calls for peace talks, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his position that he won’t hold talks with Russia as long as Putin is president during a virtual meeting with the G7. Zelensky recently signed a decree ruling out any dialogue with Putin’s government.
The astounding arrogance and intransigence of the US just cannot be overstated. And Stoltenberg’s comments today take me back to the Disney TV Halloween specter of the Devil on Bald Mountain unleashing his demons and ills on the world and folding himself within his immense black bat wings and closing his slitty yellow eyes in satisfaction. There is this remote, video aspect to all this horror taking place far, so far, from the US. Our politicians curl up snug in their beds each night and count the votes.
And the cash……………especially the cash.
NATO should have been vanquished decades ago just like the Warsaw Pact alliance
Dude, you invaded Ukraine, they have an actual head of government there that you need to negotiate with.
You mean like last April when Boris said no?
A head of government? A man whose claim to fame is playing a piano with his penis? A man who campaigned on a peace platform, defeating the man who was one in the chain of characters put in place since the coup in 2014?

“Lavrov Says Russia Open to Talks With the West, US Dismisses His Comments”
If the US wants Armageddon then Russian General Armageddon will accommodate Americas wish!
“Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reiterated his position that he won’t hold talks with Russia as long as Putin is president during a virtual meeting with the G7. Zelensky recently signed a decree ruling out any dialogue with Putin’s government.”
The critical word here is the personal pronoun, “he”. I think “he” has just signed on to his own hit.
Peace is not profitable to a plutocracy(cabal) of war merchants inside the greatested, bestest, god blessed military-industrial-complex of all time…

But…but…we’re doing it for “freedom” and “democracy”, your map be damned! Now stop sympathizing with terrorists.
Come on, everybody, join in!
“Oh say can you see, by the dawn’s early light…”
i remember a young boy and his younger sister from Pakistan came to address congress about droning. She wanted to know why they killed her grandmother. Guess how many congressmen(house not senate) were there to hear her?

To understand a major issue for Russia I have added Ukraine (with the Crimea) to NATO. The consequence would be: NATO more firmly rules the Black Sea. Hence Putin will consider any attack on the Crimea to be an attack on Russia. Hence his response to the bombing of the Kerch bridge. That was not a pinprick by Zelenskyi. That was his major challenge which explains why Putin has ordered the current bombings in Ukraine. We older folks remember the expression “escalatio” because that is what Ukraine did with the attack on the bridge. Those who have been or still are gleeful about this attack are blind as bats. Those who condemn Putin never explain why he has not done this new bombing after his recent military setbacks.
If Zelenskyi approved this attack he is a dangerous ally who needs to be given a stern warning: no more stupid adventures. I doubt that Biden had spanked him.
Remember ‘Home by Christmas’ i do….
I thought they were supposed to be home for Orthodox Easter. 3-4 days to take Kyiv. 2-3 weeks more to sweep the rest of Ukraine and degrade the Ukrainian military and secure the rest of the country. Then a few weeks more to eliminate the Nazis and replace the government. Piece of cake!
When Putin invaded Ukraine, he declared War. That was the escalation. Anything else coming from Ukraine is just what any Nation would do to defend itself.
The U.S. most likely approved the bombing.
According to The Gray Zone, the UK planned such an attack, with planning beginning around April, 2022. Around the time Boris told Zelenski to knock off negotiating and end to the war.

Why do I get the feeling Nplate is the COVID vaccination in pill form.
I fondly remember my Dad say, “sure I want to negotiate. Just wait until I finish opening this brand new can of whoop a$$.” (s)
Lavrov is trying to show they tried to negotiate, but the west looks any idea of negotiation without a major concession as a sign of weakness, something, the Russian Oligarchs will not take too kindly for Putin trying.
The only concession should be that Russia returns the land that belong to Ukraine.
These aren’t medieval times when you divide and conquer other nations, and this apply to the West too.
Let us go back a little further. How about the U.S./NATO reverse course and meet the agreement made to not move “one inch East”.
Let’s take even farther, How about Russia doesn’t violate the Budapest Memorandum (that’s an agreement that you Putin lovers conveniently choose to ignore).
Lavrov doesn’t have any access to Putin. He is just pulling words out of his ass to pretend he is still relevant.
You are full of sh*t.
Try as they may, the U.S. hasn’t been able to get that WW3 in full motion and the elections are less than a month away! Watch out for actions and possible huge false flag event before then.

Two Potentates meet up in St. Petersburg.
The author speaks of Russia, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia forming a troika with global influence. Whether Iran might play a coperative role may be dependent on whether the US and Israel can be excluded and Yemen’s status quo.
The Americans expropriating Syrian oil is no more morally acceptable than the Saudis doing likewise in Yemen.
“We see this as posturing. We do not see this as a constructive, legitimate offer to engage in the dialogue and diplomacy that is absolutely necessary to see an end to this brutal war of aggression,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said.
You’d think to be taken seriously you’d have to at least sit down at the table before you decipher all of those things. But he does work for Blinken so no big surprise.
A cease fire would last five minutes. The Azov batteries will commence shelling.
I thought the super dangerous “Neo Nazis” of Azov were killed and those who survived were taken prisoners. Unless the remaining super dangerous 215 “Neo Nazis” of Azov that Putin released last month escaped from their agreed neutral ground in Turkey.
Hmm, that could explain the Nord Stream pipeline and Crimea bridge being attacked.
Why do you choose to retain such a superficial view of this conflict? I’m puzzled at your ability to be here and still remain ignorant about how this conflict came about. Your language here reminds me of people who faithfully listen to NPR every day and accept the standard as gospel without questioning the source.
Talks at this point would not be the talks of last December and January.
Now, Russia would never accept what it then offered, a neutral Ukraine with some EU connections. It won’t let a whole Ukraine be reconstituted from what it has taken at such great cost, nor what it is about to take in its next pushs.
That is impossible for Ukraine’s government to accept. They can only be defeated, and likely killed.
The US would accept it, after spending the money on weapons and after bleeding Russia. Then the US expects it would be better prepared to turn to fight China, with its arms industry ramped up as it did arming Britain 1939-41.
That of course presumes that the US leaders fully expect (and want) a much bigger war, with China, maybe while Russia simmers bleed out.
On balance, this seems a losing path, chosen by irresponsible amatuers who know nothing about what they are getting us into — just policy wonks with private agenda never connected to real world experience.
Face it: no one who counts is serious about negotiations at this time. Maybe when the winter get worse and the gas is turned off.
