The US government on Wednesday formally accused Russia of committing war crimes in Ukraine, a move that comes after President Biden called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “war criminal.”
“Today, I can announce that, based on information currently available, the US government assesses that members of Russia’s forces have committed war crimes in Ukraine,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement.
It’s not clear if Blinken’s statement means the US will take any action. He said the US is committed to “pursuing accountability using every tool available, including criminal prosecutions.”
While appearing only symbolic, the statement will likely anger Russia since the Russian Foreign Ministry summoned the US ambassador in Moscow over Biden’s comments about Putin. The statement also exposes the hypocrisy of the US, which has a long history of bombing civilian targets and trying to cover it up.
The US accusation comes as the Biden administration is increasing military support for the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen, which regularly targets civilians. In January, the US-backed coalition bombed a migrant detention facility in Sadaa, which reportedly killed at least 91 civilians.
As the US is banning energy imports from Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, it is looking to Saudi Arabia and the UAE to ease global oil prices. Both Gulf nations are part of the coalition that has been waging war on Yemen since 2015. The UN estimated that by the end of 2021, 377,000 people have been killed by the war in Yemen, 70% of which were children under the age of five.
Is it possible that war crimes can only be committed against white people? Or that they can only be committed by out enemies?
HA! Pot, meet Kettle. We have ZERO ‘moral high ground’ on this issue. I love my country, but we are wrong to the nth degree on making these kinds of charges. As noted in the article, this will just add fuel to the fire and it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if Russia doesn’t start outing a lot of info we’d probably not rather our own people find out about.

I understand and agree, but with a caveat of my own: it’s not “the country”. The regular people are for the most part innocent, and like people everywhere are just trying to make there way in the world. The responsibility for state crimes, both foreign and domestic, lies at the feet of the criminal leadership and elite.
I would like always to see the distinction made. Don’t let the criminals shield themselves from accountability by hiding in anonymity behind overly broad nouns like “the country” or “America”.
The regular people might be innocent, but they are also willfully ignorant. If they took the time to look elsewhere for their information or just voted for something other than an “R” or “D”, then the criminal leadership might think twice before doing what they do. When I see 38% are for a NFZ regardless of WW3 breaking out, I tend to shudder about those “innocent”.

Russia is already planning a war crimes tribunal for the members of the Ukrainian government guilty of war crimes. They know who they are. I wouldn’t go to Russia if I was Blinken or Nuland from now on, either.
Russia can only strive to be as big of a war criminal as the US. There is absolutely no comparison. The US war criminals get promotions or retire with secret service protection and big fat pensions.

The US could care less about the war crimes charges against them so why would Russia care ?
Well , when it comes to war crimes the USA has no EQUALS , but because they have a gun to the heads of the NATO Numpties they are not held to account , with the UK complicit in most of their war crimes.

So to what international body of law (like the Hague) is the US accusing Russia with war crimes? It certainly can’t be the Hague as neither country have signed the Geneva Convention. More propaganda for ignorant US citizen consumption.
