Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett met with German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock in Tel Aviv on Thursday and called for a deadline to be set for the Iran nuclear deal negotiations that are ongoing in Vienna.
According to a statement put out by Bennett’s office, he told Baerbock that a revival of the nuclear deal, known as the JCPOA, would “endanger the entire region.” He also “emphasized that a target date must be set for the conclusion of the negotiations.”
In a press conference with Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, Baerbock said the talks have entered a “final phase.” The US and the European countries involved in the JCPOA negotiations have been warning that time is running out to revive the deal but have not set an official deadline.
Israel is not a party to the JCPOA and has done everything to sabotage the agreement, but the Biden administration still coordinates very closely with the Israelis on the issue. President Biden spoke with Bennett on Sunday, and the Israeli leader reportedly told Biden not to rejoin the JCPOA.
As the JCPOA negotiations resumed in Vienna this week, US officials said an agreement is “in sight.” Iranian officials have said an agreement depends on whether or not the US is willing to give Iran the necessary sanctions relief, a position reiterated Thursday by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
Yawn.
Biden will sleep on Bennett’s request.

Bennett is not unhinged He is ‘hinged’ to US policy, often repeated in the media, which is that Iran is the world’s largest state sponsor of terrorism. This follows the general US policy that any people who act against US/Israel interests are terrorists. It’s a misuse of the term terrorist, but the media doesn’t care about that.

The Senate was not allowed to vote on the JCPOA back in 2015. They were told that the agreement was “nonbinding.” So it became a huge benefit to Obama’s legacy while Republican senators predicted the agreement would not last past Obama’s presidency, which happened. Meanwhile a law was passed to require submission of future agreements to the Senate.

The Senate didn’t have to vote on the JCPOA in 2015. They voted on it in 1945.
A new JCPOA should be written by the Israelis, and then both Iran and Israel should be forced to sign it.

Seems surprisingly audacious for Israel to publicly state their need for a swifter solution to something that they have been interfering with for years.
