The Israeli military will continue launching frequent airstrikes in Syria in 2022, The Times of Israel reported on Tuesday.
Israeli officials rarely comment on airstrikes in Syria. When they do, the strikes are usually framed as attacks on Iran even though they often hit Syrian troops, members of Iraq’s Shia militias, and civilian infrastructure.
The Times report said the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) claimed the airstrikes in 2021 “significantly curbed” Iran’s ability to send weapons into Syria, which is why the air campaign will continue.
The Israelis claim Iranian weapons inside Syria are a significant threat even though attacks on Israel are almost never launched from Syria despite the constant airstrikes. The rare attack launched from Syrian territory is usually carried out with crude rockets, a sign that the Syrian military is not involved.
The latest Israeli airstrikes in Syria targeted the port of Latakia early Tuesday morning. The Israeli attack caused a fire that burned shipping containers. Syrian journalists said the fire mostly burned food and medical supplies.
Israel’s airstrikes play a role in Washington’s campaign against Damascus. The US maintains crippling economic sanctions on Syria and occupies eastern Syria, where most of the country’s oil and agricultural resources are. In some recent airstrikes, Israeli warplanes were spotted flying from the direction of the US’s al-Tanf military base in southeastern Syria.
What a pity the “international community”which knows that the Golan Heights were stolen from Syria, allows the paranoid State of Israel to continue with impunity the destruction of what is left of Syria. Why is the “West” allowed to join any “nation” to the obsolete NATO, while Syria is not allowed to have allies, especially Iran?? Disgraceful violence, which Israel uses constantly towards Palestinians and the rest of the people trying to survive near Israel, seems to be the only way Israel can be part of any engagement with the world.
To put it mildly, the “violence” is a two streak. Syrian cruelty against its own peoples, torture, gasings, and barrel bombs on civilians its multi decade police state, shows what it intends to do to its neighbors.
I must say, your compassion for the Syrian people is heart-warming. Puts one in mind of that other sensitive soul, Eli Wiesel, who did not go unrewarded for his contributions to the holocaust industry and the cleansing of Palestine.
I must say,you are threatened by any facts that threaten your world view. The people if Syria are have suffered for decades under the Assad regiemes. The term “holocaust industry”-what are you referring to? Do you prefer holocaust denial? What connections are there between Wiesel and the Israeli government?
This would be a good time to remember the killing of innocent human beings just like Al-Durrah’s 12 year old son:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Muhammad_al-Durrah
Yes, an IDF trooper deliberately took aim at a 12 yr old boy crouching in fear and unloaded on him. One has to wonder where that brave soldier is now? Heroism of this type doesn’t go unrewarded in Israel (only recall the hero of Sabra & Shatila). …could well be his name is “Naftali”? And strange how it all recalls the SS and Judenrein.
Is it a good reminder especially when someone claims they bombed other countries because they “committed atrocities?” I would say, if it’s for charity, then charity starts at home.
How so? And why are the two related if true? And would a practicing apartheid be accused of the same? Oh wait, they already do it with assassinations, sabotages and bombing with impunity. So, one is an assumption and one is a reality.
It is a fact that Assad did “practice torture”. He hosted the CIA black site that tortured the Canadian Maher Arar. He was their great friend then. But like Saddam Hussein before, he came to learn the value of Zionist friendship.
I remember the “rendering”. Nice softening up word.
There was certainly no “friendship between Saddam and Israel,or Assads and Israel.
You can’t even compare what Syria reportedly did to Arar to what the US is still doing in Guantanamo Bay. Not denying he was tortured, but he was sent to Syria by the US as an Al-Qaeda suspect in September 2002 and was returned in October 2003 after Syria declared him totally innocent. The US held innocent people in Guantanamo Bay since 9/11 (20 years). They authorized a variety of torture programs in many countries around the world.

Read here about at least 54 countries that participated in renditions including the UK:

It reminds me of the pot calling the kettle black.
If true? Really? ask Amnesty International about Syria. As far as your “apartheid ” do some research.Inquire as to the fate of Jewish communities in the Mid East-After millennia of abuse, they were forced from their homes-the Arab and Islamic world is now almost entirely Judenrein. Is that not apartheid?
Read more, learn more before you speak.
Amnesty International investigated the supposed Syrian gassing and found nothing credible.
“And why are the two related if true?”
That is what I asked. And the reason I asked that is you said this:
“Syrian cruelty against its own peoples, torture, gasings, and barrel bombs on civilians its multi decade police state, shows what it intends to do to its neighbors.”
So you had no real answer as to why Assad’s actions against his own people, if true, showed his intentions towards his neighbors. That’s because treating one’s own people like shit doesn’t in any meaningful way show one’s intentions towards one’s neighbors.
In an extensive report as early as 2014, Amnesty International condemned Israel’s “callous disregard for human life by killing dozens of Palestinian civilians, including children, in the occupied West Bank” over the years. AI said that such killings had taken place “with near total impunity.”
https://original.antiwar.com/ramzy-baroud/2021/12/29/why-is-israel-amending-its-open-fire-policy-three-possible-answers/
You mean that Amnesty International? So, they’ve got Assad and Israel pretty much as equals. And here I’ve said all along that Assad wasn’t as innocent, or the butcher, people make him out to be while you unabashedly backed Israel at every turn.
” Syrian cruelty against its own peoples, torture, gasings, and barrel bombs on civilians its multi decade police state, shows what it intends to do to its neighbors.”
Oh please! Your concern for the Syrian people is false. Where is your concern for the oppressed Palestinians?
I was merely stating facts. The Assad regieme has caused immense suffering for its own people. Russia under the Czars was not only cruel to its own peoples,it was expansionistic.
Your c
Leave other people alone. It is NOT your business. What about the Biden régime and the Houthis being killed in Yemen by US/UK bombs you sell the Saudis?
So you don’t believe in free speech. What is this “you” feces?. I am not a Biden supporter, and have nothing to do with any weapons sales.
Not even sales to Israel?? Or, the $230 million to Israel for improving the guidance of Israeli missiles??
I have no more say in weapons sales than you do.
I will top commenting when you do the same.
How come Assad is beloved and re-elected by the Syrian people? Anyone who is intellectually honest knows that the war in Syria against Assad was brought about by outsiders and not the people of Syria. Assad has protected Christians and other minority groups from the radical Muslim groups.
“How come Assad is beloved and re-elected by the Syrian people?”
Well, it helps when only parties that are part of the Ba’ath Party’s “United Front” are allowed to put up “candidates,” and when those “candidates” “campaign” by praising Assad.
While we’re throwing stones, I much prefer a “democratic” election between HRC and Trump as the only “viable” candidates. Let’s lecture everyone else about democracy and self determination.
I’m well aware that the US isn’t much, if any, more “democratic” than Syria in terms of its ruling class’s iron grip on the election apparatus and use of that grip to ensure that only establishment-approved candidates are elected.
I don’t have to pretend that the US is especially good as a condition of noticing that Syria isn’t especially good either. I’m an anarchist. Syria and the US are states. Do the math.
Who on earth knows how “democratic” our elections have become-the people who set up the machines can determine the outcome. The main good thing about Trump is that he saved the country from hubristic ,globalistic HRC.
Yes, because when Trump took office we took our boot off of the rest of the world’s neck. And no hubris from Trump. You HAVE been living under a rock!
Initially,Trump spoke about sitting down with Putin, and working out a peaceful Syria solution. The MSM blasted him as soft on Russia. The candidate from HP said she would not speak with him-did not even understand the job of a US president-she was lauded by the press.
And initially he said we should leave Afghanistan but instead he bombed them more than Obama and lifted the rules of engagement to make killing easier. That’s why those 10 people got wasted during Biden’s withdrawal. He also did two missile strikes on Syria. He didn’t want to give Russia a heads up before one of them and had to be talked into doing so by the warmongers he appointed. So please don’t continue the nonsensical ramblings of the TDS(Trump’s Delusional Supporters)crowd who refuses to face the reality that Trump was just another lousy president. The only difference between him and his predecessor, or successor, is Trump was a much bigger asshole.
Some are concerned. Just like about what happened to Al-Durrah’s 12 year old son:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Muhammad_al-Durrah
jake, you are repeating the Western lies about chemical weapons etc while ignoring that so many foreign uninvited fighters cause most of the damage, and the USA still keeps trying to remove Assad while having no idea of an alternative. He was voted in several times.
Do you really believe that there are free elections in Syria? If so,I have some shares in an arctic gold mine for you.
What we want is for Syria to become the next Libya.
Jake, Jake, Jake. We know you are one of hundreds of university students in Israel cranking out this stuff.
Presumptuous,aren’t you? .
Well said, emphatically so!
Investors in missile stocks have to be kept happy.
There’s not much high-end kinetic happening in the world.
“…they often hit Syrian troops, members of Iraq’s Shia militias, and civilian infrastructure.” Please don’t forget the civilians and buy the “smart bomb” propaganda. So polite, some articles blamed Syria for killing its own civilians with their own air defenses. Rarely, we hear about civilian deaths in western media, but still sanitized/questioned and usually not in titles. https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20211124-four-killed-in-israel-strikes-on-syria-war-monitor
How about continuing to use civilian airplanes as shields?
https://www.timesofisrael.com/russia-says-israel-used-2-civilian-airliners-as-cover-to-carry-out-syria-strike/
Time to euthanize the rabid pit bull that is IsraHell.
RUSSIA AND CHINA WHERE ARE YOU?
time for certain communities in the US to cleanup their own acts, and stop blaming others for their own condition.
It gets harder and harder to have any sympathy for Israel. They have become masters of their own fate and it does not look good…
I would suggest de-funding Israel for attacking Syrian’s but it looks like Washington is an active participant in the killing.
a.i.p.a.c. is the cancer in the u.s. government.
