Addressing the UN General Assembly for the first time Monday, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett hinted at possible military action against Iran, accusing the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program of crossing “all red lines.”
“Iran’s nuclear program has hit a watershed moment. And so has our tolerance,” Bennett said. “Words do not stop centrifuges from spinning.”
Bennett cited Iran’s recent move to enrich some uranium at 60 percent as one of the “red lines.” But 60 percent is still below the 90 percent needed for weapons-grade uranium, and Tehran only increased enrichment to such levels in response to an Israeli attack on Iran’s Natanz nuclear facility.
The latest Israeli attack on Natanz took place in April. It was a clear effort to sabotage the indirect negotiations between the US and Iran to revive the nuclear deal, which started around the same time.
If the Israelis really cared about Tehran’s enrichment levels, it would favor a US return to the JCPOA since would limit Iran’s enrichment level to 3.67 percent. But instead, the Israelis are pressuring the US not to return to the JCPOA and are constantly threatening military action.
Bennett also accused Iran of wanting to “dominate the region” under a “nuclear umbrella.” The accusation infers that there are currently no nuclear-armed states in the Middle East, ignoring Israel’s secret nuclear weapons program.
Threating Iran for over a decade and no action from Israel.
The Iranians must be frightened by now…
If times in USA get worse, attacking/blaming Iran will be the distraction.
USA is still being wagged by its dog.
Bennett= Excrement
Not to be too critical of excrement.
Yeah, life sucks when people don’t get what they want. But sometimes we have to live with what is. But HOW DOES Bennet come off so righteous, when they have crossed every red line including the nuclear finish line of being a nuclear bomb state… ????? Amy arms race in the Eastern Mediterranean is other non N. Bomb states trying to get deterrence by nuclear parity with Bennet’s Kleptocrisy.
Israel will always complain about something and wants global attention for its presumed woes — but it is to studiously avoid being questioned on Palestinian issues.
It suits US to keep Iran in the news, to dangle prospect of returning to JCPOA — while using it as a pretext to impose its will on Iran. Not much hope, but going through motions.
To say things changed is an understatement — the world has moved beyond the Agreement. SCO was specifically avoiding granting Iran full voting rights during negotiation phase as UN sanctions were in place.
Once UNSC passed Resolution enshrining JCPOA into international law, world moved on. US dangling the Agreement is not credible — so Iran was given full voting status in SCO.
At bpresent, no party in the region is participating in the charade.
A new round of sanctions proposed against Russia is a fury that has no bounds. And for a reason. It is Russia that is held responsible for the world not bending to US will, and reducing Israel
In the region to a rogue state. There is a belief that China would not have had the temerity to change its status from global factory to challenger of US order had it not been for Russia.
Not being able to tackle both, clearly decision is made to disrupt Indo-Pacific and intervene in South Asia region.
This would be disruptive to China’s economy, Find ways to stir up Japan-Russia conflict to complicate Russia’s economy.
Considering that Asian countries are linked to China and Russia by land, strategy can be only partially successful.
All I see from AUKUS is a delaying tactics by chaos causing opportunities — in order to slow down China’s growth, keep Russia inactive, and buy time.
Buy time to get infusion of math and science capabilities lacking to catch up on military front, and by reducing exports, incentivize industrialization at home.
Gaping empty shelves in US stores are testifying to the sharp curtailment of imports. This could be good news, but the financial suffocation of our economy is an impediment.
I am not against Israel but it’s leadership can go to hell.
Really? Leaders are easily replaced with men and women who have the same agenda; dispersal, ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in the occupied territories. Don’t kid yourself, Israel, illegitimate state that it is, seeks complete dominance, holding their nuclear weapons over the other countries in the Middle East.
I believe in the promised land. What I don’t believe in are the thieves who now control it.
Promised to whom?
Religion and politics don’t mix well, darlin’.
Isra-hell is nothing more than a plague on humanity. All that Isra-hell “promises” is the genocide of the Palestinian people.
Iran needs nuclear weapons to present a balance of power in the Middle East.
Read the bible. there you will find the location of the promised land.
You mean the Big Book of Stories?
Sorry Darlin’, the majority of the world does NOT believe that the Bible is the “Word of God”, myself included.
We Pagans don’t believe such nonsense. NATURE is the Goddess; only Mother Nature will determine the outcome of humanity, and right now , She’s abundantly pissed off at us.
He’s “out of uniform” with that thing glued on the back of his noggin.
The Isrealis don`t have the guts to take on Iran on their own they will want uncle sam to hold their hand , the Isrealis are cowards like to kill unarmed civilians and children , what a godless nation it is.
“Bennett also accused Iran of wanting to “dominate the region” under a “nuclear umbrella.”” BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
and yet, israeLIES are the ones with the undeclared and therefore illegal nuclear weapons..
The nuclear weapons are not illegal. Israel has no obligations under the Non-Proliferation Treaty because it’s not signatory to that treaty.
It is, however, illegal under the Symington Amendment to give foreign aid to regimes that engage in nuclear enrichment outside the NPT framework. Like Israel. Which is why Israel pretends it may not have nukes and the US regime pretends not to notice that it does.
parsing illegalities, its’ illegal
Maybe Iran should just withdraw from the NPT, and follow Israel’s example and even if they have nukes, just pretend they don’t. That way everything would be legal because they aren’t subject to the Symington Amendment.
israel is a member of the UN and the UN charter makes it clear that undeclared nuclear weapons is a no no.. you know, magical words on paper that no one is willing to enforce against the israeLIES!
Israel nukes are a deterrence first & foremost against the West: Their Samson option. Israel fears none of its neighbors, it fears the enlightened peoples, in the know, of the Western world.
Those darn immigianary movable red lines!!
It is Israel that seeks to dominate the region under a nuclear umbrella. In fact it has two, American nuclear forces and Israel’s own nuclear forces.
Israel, if it is believed, makes it clear that Iran must have its own nuclear umbrella. Perhaps the way to prevent that from being Iran’s own nuclear weapons would be for a credible extension of another nuclear power’s force, to assure that a nuclear attack on Iran would result in a nuclear attack on Israel. That is what the US offers to others, for example Germany and Japan and South Korea and Taiwan.
Israel has been stirring this same pot since 1984 (about Iran). It is time for them to take action – if they truly believe the stated danger. And it is time for the U.S. to stop supporting Israel in their efforts to go to war. If Israel truly wants war with Iran – go for it… alone. Or are they afraid that their God won’t protect His chosen people.
because iran minds its own business. smh.
