On Friday, a Taliban official said the group doesn’t need help from the US or any other countries to fight terrorism in Afghanistan.
“We are fully ready to ensure the security of the country on our own,” said Anaamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban’s cultural commission, according to TOLO News. “We don’t need the US or other countries’ support in this respect.”
Samangani’s comments came after Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley said it was “possible” the US could cooperate with the Taliban in the future against Afghanistan’s ISIS affiliate, known as ISIS-K. The US has previously provided air support for the Taliban against ISIS-K.
After the suicide bombing at the Kabul airport, the US carried out two airstrikes in Afghanistan against targets they claimed were ISIS-K, but one of the strikes killed 10 civilians. The US claims the other strike killed “ISIS-K planners,” but no names or any other details have been released.
These airstrikes were launched from outside of Afghanistan, which means they can continue, and Biden has threatened to launch more. But without the cooperation of the Taliban, more airstrikes would violate the sovereignty of the new Afghan government. So further airstrikes are dependant on how the US chooses to engage the Taliban-led government.
We’ve been killing them for 20 years. Now we threaten to kill them some more with air strikes. What are they supposed to say?
The Saur Revolution, 1978 brought the People’s Democratic Party (PDPA) of Afghanistan to power. The Revolutionary Council started a provisional democratic program that guaranteed the legalisation of trade unions, equal rights for women and the separation of church and state. The revolutionary leadership also canceled the massive debts that the poor peasants owed to the loan sharks and landowners.
The PDPA constructed schools and hospitals across the country, and trained doctors and teachers, a female Afghan doctor, recalled in the Observer in 2001, “Life was good … Every girl could go to high school and university. We could go wherever we wanted and wear what we liked.”
Unfortunately the ‘mujahedin’ (or holy warriors – the name that the bands of the khans, mullahs and Islamic clergy gave themselves) started a counter revolution that sought to preserve their positions in society. The U.S. saw an ally in the ‘mujahedin’ and through the CIA began sending them money, guns, bombs and special agents. The people of the ‘mujahedin’ included people like Osama bin Laden.
At this point in time, the revolutionary government requested military assistance from the USSR. The USSR first sent only military advisors before finally sending in some 100,000 troops but in 1985 Mikhail Gorbachev became the leader of the Soviet Union.and withdrew troops from Afganistan. By April, 1992, the ‘mujahedin’ entered the capital city of Kabul, and President Mohammad Najibullah was overthrown.
In 1996, one particular Islamic fundamentalist militia, the Taliban, was able to take control of Kabul. The rule of the Taliban, which enjoyed the support of the U.S. was extremely brutal. However in 2001, the U.S. used the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Center as justification to invade Afghanistan and overthrow the Taliban, which had refused to bow to their demands.
Thanks for the information

The man who caused the mess: Zbigniew Brzezinski…………..
I guess they don’t want to lose to ISIS K.
In other words, they don’t want to give us any excuse for hanging around.
The Taliban should keep all western countries at arms lenth , if they take IMF ,WB, ECB loans Afghanistan will be doomed ,
Even though the Taliban are themselves a US creation, just like al Qa’ida and ISIS, it seems that the stupid US invasion of Afghanistan has made them a reliable resistance against the empire. In rejecting “help” from their executioner they are showing a remarkable level of awareness. We should help them against the imperial hyenas.

The New Quad was signed in July 2021 as an agreement in principle. Instinctively, I’m concerned for the Central Asian nations who’ve for all intents have given this a go ahead, however tentative this agreement may be from Washington’s angle.

Do US biolabs come with the agreement?
There is no Isis-k.
The Taliban are not a homogenized group. Afghanistan will descend back into tribal fighting.
