Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza City Kill Two Palestinians

Daily Israeli attacks continue despite the US-backed ceasefire deal

Israeli airstrikes hit Gaza City on Thursday, killing at least two Palestinians, as Israeli attacks continue across Gaza in violation of the US-backed ceasefire deal.

According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, Israeli warplanes targeted civilians in Gaza City’s northeastern Tuffah neighborhood. On top of the two Palestinians who were killed, dozens more were injured.

On Wednesday night, two Palestinians were killed by Israeli strikes to the east of Deir el-Balah, central Gaza. Earlier that day, a Palestinian man was killed by Israeli fire south of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

Gaza’s Health Ministry hasn’t released a death toll update so far, but said on Wednesday that at least 618 Palestinians have been killed by the IDF in Gaza since the truce deal was signed in early October. If all of the deaths reported since that update are confirmed, it would bring the post-ceasefire deal death toll to 623.

Israeli troops continue to occupy more than 50% of Gaza, and it’s unclear if the “International Stabilization Force” that is supposed to replace them under President Trump’s Gaza plan will come to fruition. So far, the only country that has committed to sending troops is Indonesia.

Israeli officials have been threatening to restart the full-scale genocidal campaign if Hamas doesn’t disarm and have suggested that the US may soon give Hamas an ultimatum. “If [Hamas] does not comply, the IDF will receive international legitimacy and American backing to do it itself,” Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said earlier this week.
