Eleven Injured by Israeli Shelling in Gaza City as Attacks Continue Despite Ceasefire Deal

Palestinians held a protest in Gaza on Wednesday calling for Israel to allow the entrance of mobile homes and the start of reconstruction

Eleven Palestinians were injured by Israeli shelling in Gaza City on Wednesday, medical sources told Al Jazeera, as Israel continues launching attacks in the Strip despite the Trump-backed ceasefire deal.

The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that at least one person was in critical condition due to Israeli attacks in Gaza City. The IDF claimed in a brief statement that a mortar shell fired near Gaza’s so-called “yellow line” had “missed its target” and that the incident was “being investigated.”

According to TRT World, Israeli artillery shelling was also reported in southern Gaza and in the Jabalia refugee camp to the north of Gaza City. The report said that in central Gaza, military vehicles and bulldozers moved into the north-east of Deir Al Balah city and conducted bulldozing operations amid intense gunfire in the area.

Also on Wednesday, Palestinians in the Shati refugee camp west of Gaza City held a protest urging Israel to allow mobile homes and other types of shelters to enter Gaza and for reconstruction to start. Damaged buildings continue to collapse, and tents have been flooding and blowing away due to bad weather.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Wednesday that at least 11 people have died due to collapsing buildings, and one has died due to the cold. Other reports said that a total of 14 people, including three children, died last week amid harsh storms that involved heavy wind and rain.

The Health Ministry also said that since the ceasefire was supposed to go into effect on October 10, Israeli forces have killed at least 394 Palestinians and wounded 1,075.
