Israeli military fire near the southern Gaza city of Rafah on Monday killed at least three Palestinians, including one woman, Reuters has reported, as the IDF continues attacks in the Strip despite the ceasefire deal.
Israeli attacks hit other parts of Gaza as Al Jazeera reported three Palestinians, including one child, were wounded by Israeli fire east of Gaza City. The Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that two Israeli airstrikes hit eastern Gaza City, though it’s unclear if it was the same incident.
The IDF admitted to at least one attack on Monday, claiming it struck “terrorists” who allegedly crossed the “yellow line” in southern Gaza. According to Israeli media reports, the military has a policy to shoot and kill any adult who crosses the line, whether or not they are armed.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said on Monday that it recorded the Israeli killing of at least two Palestinians over the previous 24-hour period, bringing the total number of people killed by the IDF in Gaza since the ceasefire went into effect on October 10 to 238. Another 600 Palestinians have been injured, and the bodies of 510 Palestinians killed in previous Israeli attacks have been recovered.
The ministry also said that Gaza received 45 bodies of deceased Palestinians, which were returned in exchange for the remains of three Israeli hostages that were found and handed over by Hamas. Israel has been handing over roughly 15 Palestinian bodies for each body of an Israeli captive.
Israel has violated the ceasefire deal in multiple ways, including by continuing its attacks, restricting aid, and launching incursions across the yellow line. US officials have offered no public criticism of Israel’s repeated violations and continue to insist that the agreement will hold.
