The Israeli military bombed a power plant in the Yemeni capital of Sanaa overnight as the Houthis, officially known as Ansar Allah, have continued their blockade on Israeli shipping and attacks on Israeli territory in response to Israel’s genocidal war on the Gaza Strip.
According to Israeli media, the power plant was struck by Israeli Navy missile boats. Since 2024, Israel has launched multiple direct attacks on Yemen, but Sunday’s bombing marked only the second time that the Israeli Navy was involved, as the other attacks were launched by Israeli Air Force warplanes.

Yemeni media reported that the Israeli attack damaged generators at the Hezyaz power plant in Sanaa, sparking a fire that was later contained. So far, there have been no reports of any casualties in the strikes. The Israeli military acknowledged that it attacked energy infrastructure and claimed it was used by “the Houthi terror regime.”
Israeli attacks have done nothing to deter Ansar Allah, and another Yemeni missile was launched at Israel later on Sunday. Ansar Allah military spokesman Yahya Saree said the missile targeted the Ben Gurion Airport, and the Israeli military said that it was intercepted but that the attack caused alerts to be activated across Israel.
Saree said the attacks would continue until there’s a ceasefire and an end to the blockade on Gaza. “We will persist to fulfill our religious, moral, and humanitarian duty toward the oppressed Palestinian people until the aggression against Gaza stops and the siege is lifted,” he said.
The US also failed to stop Houthi attacks on Israel during a heavy bombing campaign from March 15 to May 6, which killed more than 250 Yemeni civilians. Israel was recently pushing for the US to start bombing Yemen again, but there’s no sign that the Trump administration will relaunch airstrikes as the Houthis are committed to not targeting US ships in the region, as long as the US doesn’t start targeting Yemen again.
