Former GHF Guard Details Abuse of Palestinians

An unnamed American who worked as a security contractor for the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation explained how the guards abused the Palestinians attempting to get aid.

In an interview with Channel 12, the 25-year US Army veteran said, “There is no fixing this [the GHF], this needs to be put an end to.” He told the outlet that GHF security contractors fired on and abused Palestinians to force them to leave the aid distribution site.

Security personnel “began shooting in their direction, shooting at them, shooting at their feet… to get them to leave,” he told the outlet. A contractor “sprayed an entire can of pepper spray into [a man’s] face – that’s lethal.”

The Army vet described a third incident, which he believes killed a Palestinian woman. A stun grenade was fired at her, and the “thing hit her and she just drops, just lifeless, collapsed to the ground. It looked like she had been killed,” he recounted.

The GHF began operations in May and uses American security contracts to secure its distribution sites in Gaza. Tel Aviv is only allowing the GHF to distribute aid, barring other international aid agencies that had established methods to hand out food.

The GHF only operates four sites in the Strip, forcing Palestinians to travel large distances to receive rations of food. The journey to aid distribution points is extremely deadly, with 1,000 Palestinians killed, mostly by the IDF, since operations began less than two months ago.

Additionally, GHF distributions are inadequate to feed the people of Gaza. Recent reports suggest that a third of Gazans, about 600,000 people, have not had a meal in several days. The lack of food is becoming deadly, with dozens of starvation deaths recorded this week.
