The Israeli Defense Ministry announced last week that it had signed its first deal using an $8.7 billion military aid package it received from the US to purchase munitions for its Iron Dome missile defense system.
The Defense Ministry said it signed a contract with the Israeli arms maker Rafael on January 16. The ministry did not say how much the deal was worth but noted that $5.2 billion out of the $8.7 billion it received from the US was allocated to go toward Israel’s missile defense systems.
The Israeli Defense Ministry first announced in September 2024 that it had received $8.7 billion from the US, which came from the $95 billion foreign military aid bill President Biden signed into law in April 2024.
Since October 7, 2023, the US has provided Israel with at least $22 billion in military aid, which supported the genocidal war in Gaza, Israel’s war in Lebanon, Israeli operations in Syria, the West Bank, and attacks on Iran and Yemen.
President Biden provided more military aid to Israel in a single year than any US president in history. Israeli officials expect President Trump to step up aid to Israel, including by releasing a 2,000-pound bomb shipment that Biden had delayed as a PR move to make it seem like he was putting pressure on Israel.
Trump signed an executive order pausing “foreign development assistance,” but it’s not expected to impact the flow of weapons to Israel.

Stories like this make me appreciate being a poor, unemployed, disabled Army vet. I have healthcare (VA, still recovering from lung cancer surgery) and I haven't paid a penny of Federal Income Taxes for 8 years. Why aren't taxpayers raising hell about all this money sent to the terrorist state of Israel? Is their PR really that good or are people just brainwashed? Either way it still makes me shake my head about the whole situation.
You may hate Israel, but most Americans don't. BTW, did you smoke? And if you did, why should Americans pay for your lung cancer that you caused? Now if you didn't smoke, that is a different story.
The contractual agreement by the US government to provide health care to veterans who qualify per their military service doesn’t have an “if you smoked” exclusion.
And in Canada, we don't have for-profit health insurance corporations denying people treatment or coverage for any reason they can invent.
You walk into your doctor's office or the hospital as a person in need, and you get help. There's nobody running down a checklist to see if they can maintain a profit margin by turning you away.

I understand that. But that is not the point. This guy complains about tax money going to Israel because he does not like it. While that is same as me complaining about paying for health care for a person who deliberating hurts themself by smoking. There is always something in the federal budget that someone disagrees with.
There are significant differences between complaining about delivery of a contractual entitlement to healthcare for services rendered on one hand, and complaining about throwing money at a rogue nuclear apartheid garrison regime halfway around the world on the other.

We give money to Israel so that they can buy missiles from their OWN manufacturers. Not a penny of it comes back to the U.S. This is what congress calls, 'replenishing Israel's Iron Dome defensive shield', as if Israel was waiting on the docks for an emergency shipment of missiles from the U.S.

I did. What I don't know is how much Rafael will sub contract to Raytheon. How many parts for the those missiles will come from the USA. Can Rafael deliver them fast enough or will they turn to Raytheon for help? Details.
Do you have the breakdown of the purchasing? How many of the missiles will come from Raytheon's East Camden, Ark plant? Your "Not a penny" statement may or may not be true depending on the purchasing breakdown.
