Denmark has told President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team that it’s willing to discuss the idea of boosting security in Greenland or increasing the US military presence on the island, Axios reported on Saturday.
The report comes after Trump said he would not rule out using military force to take Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark. Greenland is a founding member of NATO and already hosts a US military base.
The Axios report said Denmark made clear to the Trump team that Greenland was not for sale but said they could discuss expanding military infrastructure on the island. The US has a military presence in Greenland and pledged to defend the island under the 1951 Defense of Greenland Agreement.

On Friday, Greenland Prime Minister Múte Egede, a proponent of independence, said he was willing to “talk” with Trump but made clear he didn’t want the island to become part of the United States. “Greenland is for the Greenlandic people. We do not want to be Danish, we do not want to be American. We want to be Greenlandic,” he said.
Trump has claimed he wants Greenland for “national security” purposes, although the island’s vast mineral and energy resources and its access to potential future shipping lanes are likely the real reason why he wants to annex the territory.
Other Trump officials have expressed support for the idea, including Vice President-elect JD Vance, who said Sunday that he thought there was a “deal to be made in Greenland.” Vance noted that the island, which has a population of only 56,000, has “a lot of great natural resources.”
It sounds like inviting US to invade Greenland…!
The US has had rights to bases in Greenland since WWII, they have to negotiate with the Danes regarding location etc. but Denmark has not once refused US requests – so this is nothing like an invitation to invade, it is exact the opposite.
The problem for Trump is that this is not about US defense – but about the resources of Greenland and the wider arctic – therefore the desire on Canada too.
So getting invited to Expanding US Military presence is going to reveal the lie that this is about US defense.
Trump verbally and imperially attacks NATO members Canada and Denmark (Greenland). Does this mean the end of NATO?

Well if he actually attacks either Canada or Greenland then very likely yes it would cause NATO to fall apart.
If he 'merely' bribes the Greenlanders to vote for independence and then for becoming a part of the US (the cheapest version of 'annexation') it might not though given what he has already said it would be a stretch.
Had he done this from the start rather than what he did, it might have been a much smaller 'NATO' problem.
If that is what it takes to collapse NATO… Then he should…!
You do know that NATO would just be replaced by NATOII i.e. an alliance between the previous NATO countries, minus the US, plus possibly Hungary and Slovakia. So very little difference for the Russians between that and the US just leaving NATO – but good to know that you apparently are pro war.
Who would lead this NATOII…?! Germany, France, UK…?! They're all not capable….! Who would finance it…?
Lots of difference…! They would be divided and confused…! Russia can offer to lead and protect them against US…! After all part of Russia is in Europe…!
It's a defensive alliance – there is no need for change in the NATO structure what would change is that the overall military commander would not always be from the US but more likely would change between France and the UK (possibly Germany).
Finance would be as presently – we (the other members do not get paid from the US).
What would divide them in any way different from now??? We likely would not include Hungary and Slovakia but otherwise we are pretty much in alignment.
Not one of the NATO countries want Russian protection – they all (Even Hungary and Slovakia) want Russia as far away as possible from their territories.
Unfortunately – but as we will continue sanctions we will soon have them regretting that they are so balanced.
What consummate fools! talk of a "deal" to increase the presence of the NeoConNazi goon squad.
Let's be frank Trump is making sure that the USA remains the only empire Superpower around the world. And for whatever reason Trump is the bully to do it. Never seen so many billionaires, Tech Giants, CEO's flood to Mar- a-Lago to butter up to Trump. Now Denmark is doing so and Panama wants to talk as well.
Yes I voted for Trump in 2016 but realized after a while that Trump is the mirage of "paradise on earth" not much different form the Left's utopian dream of plenty and happiness for everyone if we just obey them.
So it comes down to which master we prefer to obey – Left or Right.
When both Left and Right Masters betray us we will finally come to realize that we have to rely on our own strength, faith and go to work.
I'll be frank, Russia and China are also superpowers in the real world.
Hey propagandist, your hero Crook Biden opposes negotiations, yet Trump who supports them is the bully. No sale.
We realized after reading your first junk post that you are a slogan emitter.
Give us a good laugh, cite one major policy that Trump and the left agree on. Cite one major policy that Trump and the corrupt establishment agree on. You make the false claims, and you cannot back them up. Substance-free posts are not meaningful.
Do you suffer from multiple personality disorder, or do you claim to be speaking for others?
If you classify the Biden regime as "the corrupt establishment," they agree with Trump on immigration and tariffs/trade, among other things.
Lol.
Trump expressing he wants to annex Greenland is a huge red line for Russia.
The US is likely paying for the defense of Greenland as it is. I doubt Denmark is paying for it.
