President-elect Donald Trump said he is working on setting up a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. In response, Moscow said Putin is willing to sit down with Trump without preconditions.
On Friday, Trump was asked about potentially meeting Putin or Chinese President Xi Jinping. “To be determined,” the President-elect said, referring to a summit with Xi. He added, “But President Putin wants to meet. He’s said that even publicly, and we have to get that war over with. That’s a bloody mess.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said he did not have any details about a meeting between Trump and Putin to share, but indicated there may be some diplomatic progress. “We see that Mr. Trump also declares his readiness to solve problems through dialogue. We welcome this,” he explained. “Apparently, after Mr. Trump enters the Oval Office, there will be some movement.”
Peskov added, “no conditions are required” to begin talks. President Joe Biden and President Zelensky have maintained that Russian troops must withdraw from Ukraine to end the war. The preconditions for negotiations has resulted in no diplomacy between Washington, Kiev, and Moscow.
On the campaign trail, Trump often lamented the massive loss of life from the war in Ukraine and pledged to bring the conflict to a close on his first day in office. However, since winning the election in November, Trump has tapped a number of war hawks to staff his new administration.
The incoming administration includes retired Gen. Keith Kellogg as envoy to the war in Ukraine. Kellogg has been critical of the Biden administration for not providing Kiev with enough support.
Any deal to end the war in Ukraine will likely require the Trump team to back away from the hardline negotiation positions of the Biden administration. The current White House is refusing to take NATO membership for Kiev off the table or end weapon shipments to Ukraine. Additionally, Biden and Zelensky demanded Putin relinquish all Ukrainian territory, including Crimea and the Donbas.
From Moscow’s perspective, it does not plan to give back the five Ukrainian territories that it annexed or allow Kiev to join NATO.
While Trump has not detailed his plan for Ukraine, statements from members of his incoming administration suggest there will still be significant gaps between Washington and Moscow. The Financial Times reported that the Trump admin will continue the arms shipments to Ukraine, believing it establishes “peace through strength.”

Russiagate explosion of hysteria to follow.
Coming mostly from DemonRats and some RetardiQAns…!
expect a new document exploring the possible ways to say no to peace
What I expect are more distractive non-sentences from you.
I'm sure why a meeting is needed as felony trump said the war will end in 24 hours after he takes office.
Have hope Tim. He may just screw this up even more.
He meant 24 short years…!
You are a leftist, establishment propagandist, You write the same nonsense over and over. No sale.
Try understanding the Logan Act. Hey, how are the negotiations going with your hero Crook Biden?
Until 21Jan2025, any meetings between Mr. Trump and Mr. Putin are meaningless.
When they do meet after that date, Mr. Putin could bring up the sanction, the withdrawal of the INF treaty, the withdrawal of the Open Skies agreement, arming Ukraine. NATO and NATO countries with missiles at Russias borders, Russian sovereignty, the upgrade of the B61 nukes by the U.S.
Russia knows that the Syrian episode is actually aimed at Russia, despite news of Israel, U.S., Turkey haggling about their each one's presence, and, the U.S. utilizing HTS.

Putin/Lavrov a formidable team.
Biden/Blinken (Nuland) a disaster.
Trump/Rubio?
Start your own gossip column.
The way to end the war is just to give up the idea you needed a war in the first place.
Then we are done with the Putin side. He is convinced the war was needed.
You know, like, Ukraine and NATO were getting ready to invade and annex Russia… or something like that.
oh but its russia so yknow…. russia special…. global anti-russian russophobic cabal determined to take down poodle
russia special!
This war was about the blatant and multiple violations of the neutraily agreements by the west.
This was a totally avoidable war. It is as bad as the W. Bush Iraq war.
It is another war to profit the big shareholders of the MIC and not the shareholders of 401K accounts.
It is Biden's war, he could have avoided it or stopped it soon after the beginning when the Ukrainian's NATO equipped and trained forces were beaten within weeks.
Hope Putin has read The Art of a Deal. Otherwise he is screwed.
He'll play Trump like a fiddle.
You will write one liners like a propagandist.
No, just simple observation.
I think Putin, the statesman that he is, will treat Trump like an equal, I believe that and Putin's accomplishments is why Trump seems to respect him. Putin expects to get no favors and he will not give any to Trump. Remember, the Trump Tower in Moscow never happened, and sanctions against Russia were never stopped.
Putin knows what Trump likes to hear. Everyone knows what Trump likes to hear. Zelensky and Netanyahu have already started saying things Trump likes to hear. That's all I meant by my comment. Regarding Putin changing course, whatever that might be, I don't think it matters who the US president is. That being said, I do hope they talk.
If Trump hasn't read it, why should Putin?
Funny.
Putin may know Trump better than Trump knows Trump.
At least Trump doesn't look down on Putin like Biden does…!
Biden wanted a Putin regime change replaced by the Navalny type, now it is a Biden regime change for the Trump type, not much different from the Biden failure, the Biden legacy complete FAILURE.
I wonder if Putin enjoys his Schadenfreude or does he open a bottle of champagne watching Trump’s inauguration hoping for the best?
I would say the latter… Schadenfreude applies to all Israeli officials, Blinken and Biden…!
Would you care to participate in the discussion here??? It is about 3 years of Biden blocking negotiations, and Trump beginning them now.
You are a boring troll with nothing to say.

He knows all about dirty dealings one would think, he was a KGB official, and has years of political experience as president of the RF and is well educated. He does not look like a pushover. He also has a very competent team.
Not to mention he acts super cool…!
Were you pretending to be informing us of something?
You must learn about this Latin word called sarcasmus.
There is some sarcasm, it has a place in politics.
Including Crimea as it was just another province to "annex" is disingenous. Crimea has always been Russian, ever since Catherine the Great defeated the Muslim Tartars who took Russian, Ukrainian and Polish women as slaves to sell to the Turks. Crimea was populated and built by Russians. It was only "Ukrainian" on Soviet maps, to be administered from Kiev for convenience. And Kiev was also mainly Russian.
When the Soviet Union fell apart Crimea should have been Russian, but they were worried to bring up the issue with the land-hungry Ukrainians, and prioritized getting the nuclear missiles back to Russia.
(There is a false history going around about "Ukraine gave up its nukes." As if they'd be Ukrainian just because the Soviet Union placed them in that region. They were produced in Russia, the staff and soldiers were mainly Russians, and the Ukrainian Soviet republic never had the codes to them. Everyone at the time, including in Washington, thought it was great to remove the nukes from smaller republics and bring them to Russia, which would have nukes in any case, thereby limiting the number of nations with nukes.)
In the early 1990s, I believe in 1992, the Crimeans voted overwhelmingly to belong to Russia after the end of the USSR. But the corrupt, bribe-taking Yeltsin with his four Harvard handlers said no. When Ukraine was taken over in 2014 by a coup by Biden-financed groups, a coup opposed by the majority of citizens, Crimea voted again for belonging to Russia. International observers said the election was fair and square.
Crimea's economy went well, while Ukraine's economy tanked under the coupsters. Crimea did better even though the Ukraine regime cut off their electricity from the Zhaporozhie power plant. They cut off the water to Crimea. They cut off the wheat imports. They stole the pensions from all the old people in Crimea, as well as in Donbass. When Russia defeated the planned invasion of Donbass, they gave the Ukrainians electricity from the Zhapo power plant – while the Ukrainians shelled it and pretended that "Russia is shelling the plant to blame it on us." This has been confirmed lately, but you won't hear of it.
So, "annexed" Crimea? Crimea voted, AGAIN, to belong to Russia, as it has been Russian much longer than California has been American, and it is full of Russians. It wasn't an annexation, it was a liberation. But I guess we aren't allowed to use the word liberated. Only media-approved words.
You are propagating limited, false historical knowledge about the history of Crimea, etc.

All American nuclear weapons stationed in any NATO nation are totally under the control of the USA. That goes for Finland and Sweden, the two new NATO members.
What deals were made behind closed doors for them to give up their old and established neutrality?
That is reality, thanks.

Recall, we watched a similar little Putin-Trump minuet at the beginning of his first term. After which to NeoCon criticism he immediately did a 180. There's nothing to show he's less the limp dick buffoon this time.
We see that you are still a limp commenter. This situation is very different.
President Putin stands for his nation, he is a man of the people. President Trump will be nice and respectful to Putin and Putin will respect and be nice to Trump. It could turn into rational diplomacy, a big step in the right direction, we hope.
"Democrats are the Party of War" – Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Amen.. "I don't care if the cat is black or white, as long as it catches mice." This stinking war is one big rat.
And RFK joined the other party of war.
Nonsense, RFK joined the administration of negotiations.
RFK did NOT change parties. You have a basic problem with accuracy.
I don't give a shit if he "changed" parties. He still joined them otherwise he wouldn't be working for a Republican president. My point was both parties are the party of war, and it doesn't get more accurate than that.
At least he is going to talk to him. Biden was too much of a coward to even bother.
Seeing is believing. Trump is impulsive and irrational and his appointments, as it stands, are not promising.
He is not trustworthy, he is still a conman trying to sell a defective product not worth the price.
What nonsense, we all know Trump and Putin will mett, and they have before, propagandist.
Give us a good laugh, tell us what is irrational about wanting to end the Ukraine war? This has NOTHING to do with his nominees, that is merely another distraction from you.
Based on your posts, you are the unstrustworthy conman. All you ever has is invective. The con here is your support of your hero Crook Biden and his wars.
Based on the fact that you have nothing constructive to say you are trolling. You are a meaningless troll.
It's the first indication that Zelensky wants an 'election.'
Does Zelensky want to bribe or liquidate his opponents to thwart their election participation? Does he triumph through default if he's the sole candidate and no citizens decide to vote? Is a write-in candidate legal in the dictatorial land of Ukraine?
We'll know more on January 21, 2025.
