Gaza’s Health Ministry said Thursday that Israeli strikes killed at least 32 Palestinians and wounded 94 over the previous 24-hour period as the daily US-backed slaughter continues.
The ministry’s figures are based on the numbers of dead and wounded Palestinians that arrive at hospitals and don’t include those missing under the rubble or in besieged areas rescuers are unable to access.
Israeli strikes on Thursday included attacks on two schools sheltering displaced Palestinians in the Tuffa neighborhood of Gaza City. According to medics, at least 15 people were killed, mostly women and children, and 30 were injured.
The Israeli military claimed the schools were Hamas “command and control centers” but offered no evidence.
An overnight Israeli attack in Gaza City hit a home in the Daraj neighborhood, killed at least eight Palestinians, and wounded dozens more. According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, at least three Palestinians were killed by an Israeli strike on a tuk-tuk in the southern city of Rafah.
The Health Ministry said the latest violence in Gaza has brought its death toll since October 2023 to 45,129 and the number of wounded to 107,338.
In October, a group of American healthcare workers who volunteered in Gaza estimated in an open letter to President Biden that the US-backed Israeli onslaught has killed at least 118,908 Palestinians, a total that includes indirect deaths caused by the Israeli siege. Dr. Feroze Sidhwa, who led the letter, told Antiwar.com in a recent interview that the estimate was the bare minimum they came up with by looking at the available data.
