President Biden on Sunday celebrated the overthrow of the government of former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad by al-Qaeda-linked militants, calling it a “fundamental act of justice.”
Biden said Assad’s allies Russia, Iran, and Hezbollah couldn’t defend Syria thanks to US support for Israel and Ukraine.
“The upshot of all of this is, for the first time ever, neither Russia nor Iran nor Hezbollah could defend this abhorrent regime in Syria. And this is a direct result of the blows that Ukraine [and] Israel have delivered upon their own self-defense with unflagging support of the United States,” he said.
Biden also listed ways the US has pressured the Assad government over the years, including through crippling economic sanctions and the US occupation of eastern Syria. “Over the past four years, my administration had pursued a clear and principled policy toward Syria. First, we made clear from the start sanctions on Assad would remain in place unless he engaged seriously in a political process to end the civil war,” he said.
“Second, we maintained a military presence in Syria. Our counter ISIS, to counter the support of local partners as well on the ground, their partners. Never ceding an inch of territory,” he said.
The third form of support that Biden listed was supporting Israel’s “freedom of action against Iranian networks in Syria and against actors aligned with Iran.” For years, Israel has launched airstrikes in Syria, which significantly increased in the months leading up to the offensive that led to Assad’s ouster.
Biden said the US would maintain its military presence in eastern Syria and that the US had launched airstrikes against ISIS targets in the country on Sunday. US Central Command later announced it had launched “dozens” of strikes against 75 ISIS targets in Syria using multiple aircraft, including B-52 heavy bombers.
Gen. Michael Kurilla, the head of CENTCOM, said in a press release on the strikes that “all organizations in Syria should know that we will hold them accountable if they partner with or support ISIS in any way.”
Biden said the overthrow of Assad presented an opportunity for a new Syrian government, which he vowed to support. The president acknowledged that “some of the rebel groups that took down Assad have their own grim record of terrorism and human rights abuses.”
The group that led the offensive, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), was formed in 2017 by merging al-Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate, al-Nusra Front, with other Islamist groups. HTS is a US-designated terrorist organization, and the US has put a $10 million bounty on its leader, Abu Mohammad al-Julani.
Julani was also the leader of al-Nusra and has tried to rebrand himself as a more moderate figure to gain support from the West. He recently sat down for an interview with CNN.
“We’ve taken notes of statements by leaders of this revolution in recent days, and they’re saying the right things now, but as they take on greater responsibility, we will assess not just their words but their actions,” Biden said.
Julani also delivered a speech on Sunday, declaring at the Umayyad Mosque in Damascus that the “mujahideen” were victorious against Assad.
As usual, a stupid remark by Biden. Similar to remarks during and after the Maidan revolution in Ukraine in 2014.

scenes from Libya in 2011. Celebrations in the streets.
Dictatorship is gone forever. Freedom has come. The voice-over says: "The Libyan people are hoping for a quick recovery, and see a bright future ahead of them." It was very bright indeed, shining on slave markets

Exactly, ED, just as the US (in the persons of Obama, HRC, etc.) own the disaster that Libya became, the US (in the persons of Biden, Blinken, et. al.) own the disaster that Syria will surely become. The Christians and Shia and other minorities killed and livelihoods destroyed will be at their doors.

Libya had a secular head of state and liberal women's rights. The orthodox Sunni did not like it, that is why Ghadaffy had to be sodomized and killed by the Americans and their allies. The same was done in Afghanistan in alliance with the most extremist mujahedeen against the elected head of state, and the shock and awe war against Iraq.
No one can be more evil than that. See Gaza and Lebanon and the slaughter our honorable elected criminal leadership is responsible for. The value democratic societies are brutal killers like any dictatorship.
Not really the truth, the entire truth:
I wholly agree with you, wars are never about women rights or freedom and democracy or such but they are the tools to manipulate public opinion by pretending it is about moral Christian values. And our ruling criminal elements will always use the most extreme and fanatic elements to do their dirty work.
You added a lot I did not know. They demonized Ghadaffy even well informed journalists did not know how much, but the French lost it anyway, just a bit later.
The US empire always instigates action from the most radical or extreme motivated to battle.*
*see also far right neoNazi Banderites in Ukraine.
But pay offs or bribes and money incentives can work with any groups.
Watch as the Free Syrian Army morphs into ISIS right before our eyes. Let the head-chopping begin.
They are ISIS or AlQaeda. They just keep changing names and sometimes they make a spectacle out in the open for the media that they are splitting from the former group and are new adn different.
The Free Syrian Army could become the Tyrannical Syrian Army and be even more extreme than Al Qaeda and ISIS.
“We’ve taken notes of statements by leaders of this revolution in recent days, and they’re saying the right things now, but as they take on greater responsibility, we will assess not just their words but their actions,” Biden said.
Just like with Israel. So, they can plan on investigating their own atrocities. That's one of the perks when they're one our terrorists. Just like with Israel.
It remains to be seen if they can control the extreme factions of terrorists. Will Syria end up looking like Libya and Iraq two failed states, the Americans destroyed and left, as they did in Afghanistan too. Will Lebanon be next on the list of slaughter and destruction? Nothing but scorched earth wherever they touched down.
Touché ole!!!
That's what they want for a Greater Israel and more power of America in the Middle East. That's what all this is about. The rebels got guns and weapons USA made.
This is not the first time the US has used AlQaeda, ISIS and now this new name to topple regimes they don't like or are hard to control for the West.
And lo and behold the Democrats and the Republicans are all in agreement when it comes to wars or control of other nations. Biden is happy Assad is gone and so are the Evangelicals and Trump supporters. They see a Greater Israel where the whole Middle East belongs to them.
It took more than 10 years to remove the Allawi Assad, another leader of a secular Muslim nation, as they did in Libya and Afghanistan, in Syria the Salafist Sunni were the orthodox opposition joining AQ.
Who did 9/11?
What about Egypt, they have the Suez Canal and don't want Palestinians to live in the Sinai desert?
And the greater Israel will be nothing but rubble, the scorched earth they created, but it is worth it, Albright would say, if she could.
I share your fears. But maybe Syria could be another Cuba? Julani was from a refugee family whose father was a Nasserite political prisoner who worked for the PLO in the days when the PLO was leading the resistance. Julani was 20 years old when he volunteered to fight the American invaders in Iraq. There he got mixed up with al-Qaeda and ISIS. But since he returned to Syria in 2012 to support the movement to overthrow Assad he has broken with the terrorist groups. Is he sincere? In 1959 we asked the same question about Fidel when Eisenhower and Dulles offered Castro American support if he would cooperate with the empire. The empire's manipulations and intrigues are not always successful.
It's too early to tell what HTS or Julani or the other Syrian forces will do in the coming weeks and months. For now we should take our lead from Hamas who has hailed the victory of the Syrian people in overthrowing Assad.
https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/hamas-hails-freedom-and-justice-gained-syrians-after-assads-fall
It will probably be at least a decade before it’s possible to accurately assess, even in broad strokes, how the events of the last week or so worked out for Syria.
Like you, I hope for the best.
But I suspect that things are going to get worse, not better as the Israeli and Turkish regimes seize opportunities to take whatever they want, the US regime fucks around playing the dual game of trying to make the place unfriendly to Iran on one hand while promoting supposed “western-style democracy” on the other, etc.
I’ll be surprised if Julani is alive at the end of 2025. MAYBE even the end of 2024. He’s going to have a number of opponents — open and secret, domestic and foreign — gunning for him no matter what he does with what power he possesses.
We will know more sooner than a decade. Things are happening very fast in the ME. Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Houthis are monitoring the situation closely and seem open to working with the insurgents.
We will know soon if the new regime wants close relations with Iran and the Palestinian resistance.
The Houthis revealed today that they left Damascus a year ago because Assad closed their embassy to curry favor from KSA. Also today a group of fighters met in a Damascus mosque to proclaim solidarity with Palestine and that they intend to march to Jerusalem.
I agree that this is a dangerous time for Julani, the Syrian movement and the Syrian people. But it is also a time of hope.
And like the used car salesman approving car loans, they'll blame it all on Assad. "Assad bad, Assad gassed his own people, Assad is a butcher" stamp, stamp,… STAMP!
Biden does not know his responsibility for the slaughter and besides that he is just a senile old man with nothing to say, others will do that and tell him to just shut up and do as told.
I am more interested in what Hamas has to say then what Biden says. Here is a link to the statement they made today congratulating the Syrian people are overthrowing Assad.:
https://www.middleeasteye.net/news/hamas-hails-freedom-and-justice-gained-syrians-after-assads-fall
Hamas recognizes that the overthrow of Assad is a glorious victory for the Syrian people. It is too early for pundits or podcasters or spin doctors or diplomats to know with certainty who will be in the new government or what it will do for the Syrian and Palestinian people. For now, it is best to wait and see and to pay attention to Hamas' analysis of the unfolding events. Hamas understands the interests and manipulations of the Zionists and the Americans. But they also understand that the overthrow of the dictator could be a positive step toward liberating Palestine by building a stronger Axis of Resistance. Let's give the Syrian people a chance to rise from the chains of the Baathist dictatorship and shape their own future and define their role in the Middle East. Hopefully the new Syria will join with Iran and its partners to rebuild the Axis of Resistance to include a Syrian regime with popular support in solidarity with the Palestinian resistance.
I could care less what Hamas says.
Any government hostile towards Israel will get the Assad treatment. You act as though Israel went away.
Well, I care what Hamas says. The Palestinian people have placed their faith in Hamas and I have to respect that. Hamas and Islamic Jihad know better what the Palestinian people need than we do.
You act like the US and Israel have the power to topple any government they target. They don't. If that were the case, Iran would have been overthrown long ago. Whatever intrigues go on behind he scenes, the Baathist regime was brought down by the Syrian people and the Syrian resistance.
Like many commenters on this list, you pay too much attention to the "Great Game" between the militarized nation states. You guys usually analyze a conflict as two sided. You underestimate the power and agency of the masses of people. Governments often rise and fall because of hearts and minds not force of arms. And even a victorious armed force must sway sufficient hearts and minds to prevail in the long run. The Baathist regime endured for 70 years. But in the end, the Syrian people brought it down. We can talk about sanctions. But Cuba, Iran and Venezuela have survived sanctions because their governments earned mass support that Assad didn't have.
No, Israel and the US did not go away. And we need to keep our eyes open because they will seek to exert influence over the new Syria. But in the long run the Palestinian people and their allies will prevail. And today I join Hamas, Islamic Jihad and the Houthis in celebrating the overthrow of the tyrant Assad and hoping that Syria will remain a critical part of a revitalized Axis of Resistance.

What makes you believe that “the Palestinian people” have “placed their faith” in Hamas?
After observing genuine and phony resistance movements for over 60 years I have developed some rules for gauging whether a group has genuine popular support or is a terrorist force.
Terrorists like al-Qaeda or ISIS have never been able to hold territory because wherever they go, even when they were initially popular, they engender opposition that is fatal when they are trying to fight a more powerful adversary. The US quickly defeated al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and toppled the controversial Baathist regime in Iraq that was hated by the Shiite majority. But the US could not defeat the indigenous Taliban or the indigenous anti-US resistance and sectarian forces that emerged in Iraq. Significantly, the the Taliban succeeded despite getting virtually no foreign support from any state actor. .
Evidence of Hamas’ popular support is that they still exist and are still fighting effectively when the Israelis have been offering bounties and safe passage for information leading to the hostages or the militants . Someone is protecting them. More evidence:
The fact that so many Gazans are trying to sign up that Hamas has a waiting list to train new fighters
The fact that they operate out of hospitals and schools and mosques and all the medical personnel and professionals and staff, including the international staff, are covering for them.
The fact that they have won every election, debate or street fight they ever had with Fatah
The fact that they are still fighting effectively despite incredible losses and still recruiting new fighters and developing effective leadership to replace the fighters and leaders killed by the Israelis.
The fact that every opinion poll taken in Gaza or the West Bank show Hamas and Islamic Jihad are the most trusted Palestinian organizations organizations and that the majority of Palestinians support armed resistance and the October 7th operation.
Isn’t it amazing that despite flooding Gaza with troops and high tech surveillance, the Israelis still can’t solve the Hamas tunnel network?
ISIS and al-Qaeda have never been able to hold ground because people hate them. They have no roots. But no one will show the Israelis where Hamas hides.
Hamas can’t be defeated because they don’t use the Palestinian people as human shields, Hamas <--IS--> the Palestinian people, organically. That is a necessary condition for winning an aysmmetric war of national resistance or liberation.
Amazingly , Hamas is still operating effectively in the North because wherever Palestinians are still alive, there is Hamas.
I have been watching this shit for over 60 years. You can’t succeed in urban guerrilla war in confined quarters against a technological and military superpower like Israel unless the people cover and protect the guerrillas. Terrorizing the population has its limits because eventually someone will turn in the resistance. This is why the Israelis are so genocidal, like the US in Vietnam, except it is more intense in a confined urban setting than in a jungle. You can’t get the kind of support Hamas and Islamic Jihad receive by terrorizing people. It is frustrating for an invading conventional army to realize that the enemy are the people and the land itself and there is no meaningful distinction between fighters and civilians anymore in the eyes of the invaders.
The Israeli onslaught has caused Hezbollah out of the fight, at least temporarily. But Hamas, despite its leadership being decimated, its bases destroyed, its supply chain completely disrupted and its fighter killed is still fighting and still being protected by its people. That shows the kind of motivation that led liberation or resistance forces to defeat US and Soviet imperialists in Vietnam and Afghanistan and which are defeating the Russians in Ukraine.
BTW, I distinguish national liberation forces that I generally support, like the Vietnamese, from national resistance forces, like the Taliban, that I recognize as legitimate indigenous forces but that I don’t necessarily support. But the dynamics of asymmetric wars or national liberation and national resistance are the same. It is all about hearts and minds.
Among the great powers only the Chinese understand wars of national resistance/liberation. That is why they don’t get involved in futile quagmires of regime change wars that other great powers repeatedly blunder into.
Sure. They elected them in 2006 so that means 18 years later they must still want them since there have been no more elections. That's how that works, right?
I act like the US and Israel can overthrow any government they choose since that's what they've been doing. But since Iran hasn't been overthrown as of yet that must mean we should ignore the failed states left behind by the US and Israel.
The Syrian people didn't bring shit down. You're fantasizing. Groups that were backed by MILITERIZED NATION STATES did. Who the hell do you think was backing HTS? And how many of them are even Syrian nationals? And it's funny how you degenerate other commenters for what they say when you were saying the same type of thing they were up until this week. But for some reason you've had an epiphany and now are quoting the likes of Hamas who are just oppressive as "tyrant" Assad.
And it won't be hard to keep our eyes on the US and Israel because if HTS doesn't play nice with Israel, Syria will continue to be treated just like when Assad was in power. And the "revitalized" axis of resistance won't be able to do shit about it.
As Biden commences to bomb Syria???
this Biden fool cannot go away soon enuf. he ended up being a regime change fanatic just like obama. just like W Bush.
and Trump, he likes trade wars and sanctions, and 100% tariffs and selling weapons for the MIC, after all he is a ruthless professional conman, ready to kill to get what he wants.
Maintaining a military presence in a place where we were not invited does not sound like a way to make allies…
Of all people, the Israelis should know best.
My contempt for president POS grows by the hour.
Well, but the Left and Right are in agreement on this one. Trump supporters are also celebrating for a Greater Israel against the "barbaric Satan worshipers". they call it an act of god according to the prophesies in the Old Testament in the bible.
Man who said he saw the beheaded babies.
Man who issued a blanket pardon for his criminal son
Man who wears his evilness in his face
Imagine praising a terrorist group aptly called rebels to perfect the narrative for overthrowing a legitimate state, like yes the guy wasn't nice. But I'm sure the nuance went overhead these people, surely the US hasn't forgotten how they spend the last two decades fighting Al Qaeda, Daesh, and other extremist groups in the region? Those who died because of it are surely rolling around their graves
We never really fought Al Qaeda, ISIS. We used them to topple regimes adn jsut make it look like we were fightign them. Gee, we are even using ISIS fighters in the Ukraine paying them good money to help the Nazi brigade to topple Russia.
From the article posted on Antiwar today about the 'rebel' invasion of the Italian embassy in Damascus:
""We are calling for a peaceful handover between the fallen regime and the new reality, so for a peaceful rather than military transition. It seems to me that at the moment things are going in this direction,"
Sounds grrrreat, right?
This was in response to the headchoppers stealing 3 cars and shooting up a wall of the embassy. The ambassador was reported "unharmed" which is a curious word selection for peaceful transition of power. I have never gone grocery shopping then described myself as "unharmed." People in the west really know the script; this is how one gets a diplomatic job. Imagine if Syrian Arab Army, Iranians or Russians broke into an embassy, shot up the place and stole cars.
I may be wrong, but I understand extremist Islamic elements are part of the CIA created coalition. Could it be an early indication of the violence yet to come? Syria is scorched earth, terrorists are not likely to build and put it back on its feet. See Libya and Iraq and Afghanistan.
Terrorists, i$lamic terrorists, that's how they ought to be referred to as. The territory has apparently fallen to the modern edition of the 7th century ideology.
Always like your own posts! Me too?..;=}
Zioni$ts of any religion or no religion are Zioni$t Terrorists and Chri$tian Nationali$ts are terrorists that will become Chri$tian Internationalists under Trump.
No, not really. Quite the opposite. One teaching says to love your enemy, and bless. The other TEACHES its followers to prepare the utmost weaponry to "TERRORIZE" your enemy and God's enemy.
Additionally, one teaching despises using one's faith as a political doctrine in of itself, the other is hardly a religion and mostly politics against the "other". Therefore, your point is null.

From 2021:
https://www.theportal-center.com/2021/04/are-turkey-and-the-islamist-hts-group-in-syrias-idlib-allies/
Former US Special Representative for Syria Engagement James Jeffrey said in early March that HTS is “an asset” for US strategy in Idlib.
In response to these statements, Nicholas Heras, Senior Analyst and Program Head for Authoritarianism at the Newlines Institute for Strategy and Policy, tweeted that he doesn’t believe “it’s out of the realms of possibility” that HTS is “a Turkish intelligence (MiT) asset, and via proxy from Turkey to [the] USA (as needed).”
“HTS cannot survive without Turkish support, it’s that simple,” Heras told Ahval. “Turkey’s significant military investment to protect Idlib is the key factor that protects that region from collapsing back into the control of Assad and his allies.”
In addition to this, Turkey, which has deployed substantial military forces in Idlib since late 2017 as part of the tripartite Astana process with Russia and Iran, also controls the most important transit routes for humanitarian assistance and trade with the HTS-controlled parts of Idlib, which it keeps open.
“HTS is the dominant actor in Idlib, and it would be quite expensive in terms of casualties and destruction for Turkey and Turkish-backed Syrian proxy groups to remove HTS from power,”
Heras said. “HTS is literally the only local Syrian actor that can control Idlib at a low cost for Turkey.”
“Turkey and this Syrian al-Qaeda-linked group have a symbiotic relationship, and HTS is an asset to Ankara,” he added.

Otherwise, things have basically turned out as expected.
For how long? Netanyahu did support Hamas at one time too. Who can trust whom in that alliance? All have their own interests.
Democracy the disguise for a criminal syndicate.
The Salafists are part of the HTS, does that mean fanatic Shias and fanatic Sunnis are together parts of HTS?
It's not senile Joey Biden, it is obama who has had a vendetta against Assad of Syria and President Putin for years.
Thankfully obama's proxy control of the Whtie House will finally end on 20 January 2025.
That cannot come soon enough!
When Biden leaves office, will your fantasy that Obama had “proxy control” of the White House end, or will it just go into storage to be brought back out, dusted off, and plugged in to explain every situation again NEXT time there’s a Democratic presidents?
Free speech: we each have an idea of who controlled the White House for the past 4 years and it certainly was NOT incoherent senile Joey Biden.
Yes: Idiocy is indeed covered under the rubric of “free speech.”
Denigration is the bastion of the less educated.
What would Biden had done differently if not under the control of Obama?
At his age and in his condition I would not give Joey Biden more than 6 months to hang around.
When that happens, I will throw a big party with an effigy that can be abused.
Crazy Joe is still missing a wall from his house..
Zahra @zahraamakki
Hatred for Assad isn't a political strategy; it's a smokescreen.
You've been played.
Minutes after HTS terrorists stormed Damascus, Israeli tanks entered the Syrian city, Quneitra. Syria is lost to armed militias, each one a pawn of foreign powers.
Palestine is suffocated, and Lebanon is now blockaded. This isn't resistance; it's the orchestrated geopolitical collapse of our region.
https://x.com/zahraamakki/status/1865632146649428368
Israeli tanks have invaded the buffer zone of Quneitra in Syria and fired artillery.
Israel has long wanted to expand its territory into Syria and other countries to create a "Greater Israel"
Israeli Finance Minister Smotrich recently laid out this plan in an ARTE documentary:

Trump says the US should stay out of it,
Biden bombs Syria,
the difference.
Trump also said the US should stay out of it before his LAST term as president.
And then once inaugurated he dectupled the US military presence in Syria, conducted an artillery shelling campaign bigger than the one in the 2003 invasion of Iraq, pretended he was going to withdraw US troops, then didn’t.
He ordered US troops out of Syria, and Gen Milley disobeyed and covertly maintained US troops.
He ordered US troops out of Syria, and then he reversed the order and explained explicitly why (“to take the oil”).
It’s almost funny how fast Trump goes from “MAGA! STRONG LEADER! GETS THINGS DONE!” to “helpless meat puppet thwarted by his subordinates at every turn” when he turns out to have lied yet again.
Trump say the US should stay out of it, except, of course, to keep stealing Syria's oil. There, fixed it for you.
To repay the costs for defeating ISIS, smart. Would you prefer the Assad regime control it? Get real Mary.
The vail is being lifted slowly but surely, we have been governed by criminal elements for decades, an army of Frankenstein monsters who want to rule the world is the guiding light.
Even the Ukraine disaster makes sense, they used Ukraine to destroy Russia, they knew Ukraine would be annihilated and they will keep it up to weaken and eliminate Russia. The same reason drives the hostilities and sanctions and assassinations in the ME war against Iran, opening the door for WW III. The CIA, the Pentagon and trade wars and the threat of nuclear war are the tools to get it. Europe is on the way to become the battle field for WW III, it has been set up for it.
You nailed it Lysis!
First of all Biden did not say anything, he read something – poorly – from the teleprompter.
Secondly, when the Biden Administration adn trump supporters are all on the same page on this one we know it is not in the best interest of the people in Syria.
Evangelicals are celebrating saying the prophesies from the bible are being fulfilled for a Greater Israel.
I am sure a lot of people in US celebrate the ouster of the lame duck Genocide Joe on Monday, January 20, 2025…!

What business is it of ours to launch airstrikes in Syria?
July 2013: The head of Saudi intelligence Prince Bandar bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud flew secretly to Moscow where he made various offers and threats at a private meedting with Putin to get the Russians to agree to the removal of President Assad.
Bandar told Putin, "… as an example, I can give you a guarantee to protect the Winter Olympics in the city of Sochi on the Black Sea next year. The Chechen groups that threaten the security of the games are controlled by us, and they will not move in the Syrian territory's direction without coordinating with us. These groups do not scare us. We use them in the face of the Syrian regime but they will have no role or influence in Syria's political future." (THEDURAN-Alexander Mercouris-July 25, 2016)
Terrorists linked to 9/11 funded by the America CIA and unreleased on Syria.
Blowback from this overthrow of Syria's government will be somewhat like Libya.
They are beheading children of government officials and forcing Christians to convert to Islam.
Hey, also, just curious, as I had a flashback to a hot-button issue from years back regarding Syria….
What's the status of Syria's considerable chemical-weapons stockpiles ? You guys remember, the ones people claimed Assad's forces used (but the chemical fingerprint didn't match his stocks) ? And I think the Russians offered to take & incinerate Syria's CW reserves ?
How did all that play out ? I can't recall the end of that story.
https://smoothiex12.blogspot.com/2024/12/little-by-little.html
Will the Russians recognize a government founded by terrorists funded by America and Israel through regime change?
Assad may have been a tyrant but the government that replaces him could be even more tyrannical. The West says it promotes democracy around the world but it supports brutal dictators if they are suitable to its foreign policy and unsuitable to their peoples.
War criminal drools what? Our terrorists are the very best terrorists, right Joe?
When the US wins, Mother Earth loses … This is called freedom.
Syria has been on the neocon hit list for decades. Biden has been a key player. Remember General's Clark's list of destroying seven Muslim nations in five years. They are way behind schedule, but five are in shambles and Lebanon is next since Israel can now attack from the east. Then on to Iran, assuming Trump follows orders.
"Biden Celebrates Ouster of Syria's Assad"
"daaaah……..i'm happy hippy happy!!!!…..daaaaaaaaaaaaah"
How does one estimate or handicap the former Syria's balkanization-in-progress?
Will the area east of the Euphrates River become an American military enclave devoted to siphoning off Syria's oil reserves leaving Syria' remaining areas bereft of economic growth? Will the US military continue sending that oil that eventuates to Israel? It seems so.
Few would envision the Kurds and Druze getting any power to devise a government. I suspect Erdogan has seen to that. They'll feel compelled to flee to Iraq or Iran.
Will Russia decide to acquire more of western Syria than what they presently occupy?
Just to clarify Druze are not Christians.
After doing research rather than relying on another journalist's quote, I agree with your statement. It has since been edited.
If one believes Wikipedia, it drew minimal influence or inspiration from Christianity.
All done by the Biden administration in order to defend genocide. Isn't that right, Genocide Joe?
