According to the New York Times, US and European officials have discussed a range of options they believe will deter Russia from taking more Ukrainian territory, including providing Kiev with nuclear weapons. The outlet reports that Western officials believe the Kremlin will not significantly escalate the war before Donald Trump is sworn in as President in January.
Following the election of Trump earlier this month, the US and its NATO allies began taking steps to rush weapons to Ukraine and give Kiev the ability to strike targets inside Russian territory with long-range weapons.
American officials who were briefed on the intelligence community’s assessments told the Times that weapons will not alter the challenging situation that Kiev is currently facing. “US spy agencies have assessed that speeding up the provisions of weapons, ammunition and matériel for Ukraine will do little to change the course of the war in the short term,” the Times reports.
Desperate to bolster Ukraine’s standing in the war before the transition of power on January 20, the Biden administration is looking at a range of serious escalations. “US and European officials are discussing deterrence as a possible security guarantee for Ukraine, such as stockpiling a conventional arsenal sufficient to strike a punishing blow if Russia violates a cease-fire.” The article continues, “Several officials even suggested that Mr. Biden could return nuclear weapons to Ukraine that were taken from it after the fall of the Soviet Union.”
According to some officials who spoke with the Times, the administration believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin won’t significantly escalate the war until Trump returns to the Oval Office.
“But the escalation risk of allowing Ukraine to strike Russia with US-supplied weaponry has diminished with the election of Mr. Trump,” adding,” Biden administration officials believe, calculating that Putin of Russia knows he has to wait only two months for the new administration.”
That assessment is based on the belief that Trump and his incoming Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, will take a more favorable stance on Russia. However, Trump proved to be a Russia-hawk during his first administration by ramping up sanctions on Moscow, providing lethal arms to Ukraine, and expelling a large number of Russian diplomats from the US.
In September, Putin said he preferred Vice President Kamala Harris to win the White House. “Trump has imposed as many sanctions on Russia as any president has ever imposed before, and if Harris is doing well, perhaps she will refrain from such actions,” he explained.
Much of the American political class has cast Trump and Gabbard as agents of Russia. However, extensive investigations into Trump’s ties to the Kremlin have come up empty. Additionally, the Times reported last week that there was no evidence Gabbard was in any way an asset of Putin.

Nukes for Zelensky is like giving a 5-year-old child a match and a can of gasoline!
Putting a stick of dynamite in with a bunch of fireworks. What could go wrong?
Or playing with blasting caps. I was treated to a number of movies on that hazard while in grade school. Because the effects are truly life-changing (and not in a positive way). Lucky for me, I never got farther than putting single firecrackers under my plastic toy soldiers in the space behind the garage (where my parents could not see me). I still have two eyes and ten fingers.
and all of us sleeping in the same room with the child …
”It’s like putting out fire with gasoline!”
swatting a fly with a shotgun.
Like giving neo-Nazis in 2024 what their predecessors desperately wanted in 1944.
You wouldn't believe what I've been through…
I guess I'll need a bigger desk to hide under:-(
Best post of the day!
I think the federal standard is still (US Department of Education Laminated Press-Board Grade-School Desk) for everything up to 41.1 Megaton yield.

"Several officials even suggested that Mr. Biden could return nuclear weapons to Ukraine that were taken from it after the fall of the Soviet Union.”
Really? Idiots. Those nukes were decommissioned and dismantled decades ago. You can't "return" something that no longer exists.
Na'ah, man, it's like replacement insurance on cars or home contents. They'll get the nearest current equivalent in kilotonnage MIRV yields, factoring for inflation.

I had the same face when Russia invaded and started annexing Ukrainian lands.
Yeah, that seems credible to me. Possibly because you lacked the context to understand why things happen, the presumption being that you would unlikely have had a grasp on the facts of the matter then that you clearly lack now.
The people who live there WANTED to join with Russia. Read the American Declaration of Independence for the ideological principles involved.
Well, I've been to one world fair, a picnic, and a rodeo, and somehow ("US and European officials have discussed a range of options … including providing Kiev with nuclear weapons") is the stupidest thing I ever heard come out of NATO countries.
Stupidest until your country is invaded by a nuclear power.
I'm sure if Ukraine had Nukes, the invasion and annexation would not happen.
What's really the stupidest, was the PR stunt Putin pulled two days ago with the ballistic missiles without nuclear warheads.
I'm sure you celebrated that.
Your hate towards Ukrainians doesn't let you think straight.
Putin is patiently trying to caution the US against further acts of irresponsible insanity that are lethal for Ukrainians. I was expecting Russia to drop the warheads on the US embassy in Kiev, which has already been evacuated. But the embassy is, strictly speaking, US territory. So I guess Russia is saving that step as a follow-up to the next insane US escalation.
What you fail to realize is that it's those you think are your friends and advocates are the ones that despise you. They are venomous snakes…
If Ukraine had followed the advice of those that wrote on these pages, Ukraine would have remained intact in 2014. Including Crimea. After that, if Ukraine had followed advice given on these pages from 2014-2022, Ukraine would have retained the 4 Oblasks that Russia has annexed….. and hundreds of thousands would be alive.
Instead you were conned by the people you think are helping you. They inflamed your hatred of your fellow Ukrainians. Sold you a bill of goods on the EU and NATO. They used your irreplaceable boys and men as cannon fodder to harm Russia and Russians.
And should the hubris of those in the West whose avarice to rule the Earth leads to the ultimate catastrophe? In the minds of the survivors what will the legacy of the Ukrainian people be? .
I'm guessing the vast majority of people posting comments here don't "hate" Ukraine. Nor do they have any fondness towards Putin or Russia. Why would they? I think most hate the fact that Ukraine was gullible enough to allow themselves to be used as fodder by the US.
It is just a rethorical trick. You attribute an irrational motivation, preferably something contemptible, to your opponent if you don't want to or can't address the substance of an issue intellectually.
The Ukraine is an ARTIFICIAL "country." Its very name means "the borderlands," which is why "The" was prepended to Ukraine up until recently. And the "borderlands" of which country? Russia, of course. The Kievan RUS, the founders of the Russian Nation. Or nations, if you prefer.
The only hate for Ukrainians comes from Zelenskyyyyyy and his fellow NON-Ukrainian puppet masters. You didn't know Zelenskyyyyyy is NOT ethnic Ukrainian, whose first language was Russian? The country had a lower per capita GDP than El Salvador before Russian reacted to the US overthrow of the President of Ukraine! It wasn't Russia who drove The Ukraine into the ground.
BTW, my grandmother was born in Odessa, so talking points won't work on me.
well your grandma would be ashamed of you for calling her homeland not a people
this is the true face of the "antiwar" activist, a thoroughbred ukraine hating russia lover. THis is shameful
We are people, we are a country, we are Ukraine, not The Ukraine, and Ukraine is Above All
The “West” generally hates nationalism. Maybe Russia hates it also. You might just be between a rock and a hard place.
But before anything you should aim for sovereignty.
I hate neo-Nazis and lying idiots.
Fortunately for you, Almond, at least you're only half of those. Just don't start" 'Aryansplainin' " why the racist campaign against ethnic Russian eastern Ukrainians was "just fine".
Bad leadership in Kiev and American interference in Ukrainian affairs brought this mess about.
Can I get chocolate ice cream with that?!
All of Ukraine's prior nuclear weapons, which it inherited at the fall of the Soviet Union, were returned to Russia. So the US does NOT have "Ukraine nuclear weapons" to "return to it."
Ttherefore, we need to be clear that what some of these morons are proposing is providing US nuclear weapons to Ukraine.
Under the new Russian nuclear doctrine, this would immediately make the US a target for a nuclear response from Russia. This would be entirely different from a Russian response to a few ATACMS or Storm Shadow missile attacks. This would be an actual existential threat to Russia.
Tbe first thing Russia would do is eliminate the Kiev regime and push directly to Kiev and take over the entire country – which, as I've said before, they would do anyway eventually – but now it would be immediate.
Russia would probably be happy to hold on to what they have. The population of W. Ukraine is a lot less amenable to their return than the breakaway provinces were. Putin will not want to occupy to dominate, he would be happier defending people who don't mind him defending them. This is where understanding the prevalence of nativre language takes over.
And you can't dream he'll go chase after Poland or Finland "next" because he's wasted as much as he has already.
True Russia might not seek all of Ukraine, but strategic choke points like all of Ukraine's coastline would be of interest. That would make Ukraine even more unsustainable economically.
Yes, Odessa and Mariupol are already in the package. Also: as much control of the Donetz river as feasible.
If Russia chose to conquer Ukraine, which at this point would require less effort than the US conquest of Iraq, the remaining Ukrainians would fall into two groups: those who speak Russian and ally with Russia and those who do not. And those who do not would be invited to go elsewhere, as happened to the Tories in America at the end of the American Revolution. A lot of those people moved up to Canada.
Problem solved, no charge.
Fun fact: Zelensky himself is NOT ethnic Ukrainian, and his first language was RUSSIAN.
"If Russia chose to conquer Ukraine, which at this point would require less effort than the US conquest of Iraq"
then what are they doing now? playing in the sand?
Well… the "native" languages of what's now western Ukraine (parts of Poland and/or the Austro-Hungarian Empire until Nazism) were roughly equally Polish, Ukrainian and German (rather more than Yiddish) spoken by a Jewish population that relocated from Austria proper. After the Holocaust, during which the Ukrainian Bandera-ites and Waffen SS volunteers in conjunction with German Nazis killed an estimated 1.5 million Jews and at least 150,000 Catholic Poles and drove most of the rest out, Galicija and bordering areas became Ukrainian by default. In many places 2/3 of the population was murdered or driven out (my grandmother & her family were in the latter category) and Ukrainian speakers moved in to fill the void. This is one of the areas in which a fascist objective was achieved in WWII.
The USSR drew a new Poland-Ukraine border & shipped populations (mostly Poles out) east and west, through language and religion (Poles are Roman Catholic and Ukrainians mostly an eastern rite of Catholicism, apparently enough to kill over) similar to as happened with Greeks and Turks following World War I & the end of the Ottomans.
Even in what Ukraine became, many people preferred to speak Russian, you have small populations of Hungarians and Moldovans, there's a Roma population. It turns out not overly many people in the territory of modern Ukraine could be said to be 'native' speakers of the language, especially ones who also live in the same area their grandparents did.
That's me not being mean and and kicking a hornet's nest by delving into 19th century development of the Ukrainian identity, about which a couple of regular commenters on the site would be most unhappy.
And here we go again… Ukraine wants Aegis Ashore “air defense” complexes installed in Ukraine – which is precisely what the Russian SMO is intended to prevent…as I've said since April, 2022.
Ukraine turns to US for new air defense systems or Patriot modernization after russian missile strike — media
https://ukranews.com/en/news/1048963-ukraine-turns-to-us-for-new-air-defense-systems-or-patriot-modernization-after-russian-missile
How could the US do that and still be a signatory to the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPF). If they would do it, maybe Russia would "give" Cuba and Mexico nuclear weapons?
“Several officials even suggested that Mr. Biden could return nuclear weapons to Ukraine that were taken from it after the fall of the Soviet Union.”
They were never Ukraine's nukes but were totally under the Soviet Union military's operational control, just like Montana and Wyoming don't have control of American nukes.
They have to be ignorant if they believe the hosts of nuclear weapons control them.
Germany has no control of American Nukes either, no nation has, they are nothing but targets. The same is true of all conventional weapons and military supply.
We are all hostages to the nuclear powers.
interesting thing – amerca never bombed the shit out of cuba or mexicos
America didn't need to, the Mexican government/democracy wasn't overthrown by a foreign actor, and Mexico was never armed to the teeth with modern weaponry by that foreign actor.,
mexico only armed themselves to the teeth because america supported insurrectionists in the baja california and chichuaha
The US invaded Cuba and conquered it during the Spanish-American War, there was the Bay of Pigs invasion and terror runs of strafing Cuba by Miami-based Cuban immigrants who the US never seriously attempted to prosecute for using US territory to launch an act of war.
You should look into the history of Texas and the Mexican-American War, as well as the incident in which a young L. Ron Hubbard as a US naval officer before his Scientology days opened fire on Mexico as a training exercise.
A thought occurs to me…
What if the US and Ukraine talking about 1) Tomahawks, 2) Aegis Ashore, and 3) nuclear weapons – actually means the US using the Aegis Ashore installations in Poland and Romania to strike Russia with Tomahawks?
That's instant WWIII… This may be why Russia is explicitly designating the Aegis Ashore installations as a priority target – because Russia already knows this is being discussed in Washington.
After all, how much different is it – or seems to the morons in Washington – between giving Ukraine permission to use ATACMS to hit Russia and using the Aegis Ashore system to hit Russia?
Sounds like that would be setting an ugly precedent. Or can only the "good guys" do this?
They want their war. And will provoke it — still two months to go. The real question is WHO wants it so bad, and WHY?
Biden is vindictive he will get even with Trump, MHO, just a thought.
Nuclear warfare will "solve" a great many "problems" for our rulers, including "too many" of us, unpayable debts, and resistance of the survivors to TOTAL government.
They don’t want war with Russia. This is Brinkmanship. It’s like the above: Ridiculously dangerous.
"Much of the American political class has cast Trump and Gabbard as agents of Russia."
Those profound explanations!
And the way they look, talk and act when they utter them is — in a limited sense — a greatest show on earth, enacted in a location which is both a circus tent and an asylum.
"However, extensive investigations into Trump’s ties to the Kremlin have come up empty."
Investigations well spent. A really exciting episode.
Funny, Soul.
Have they all gone MAD !!!!?????? Give Zelensky niclear weapons????? What would it do to help Ukraine's failing on the battlefield??? Do they think OUR NUCLEAR WEAPONS WILL SCARE Putin when his nukes are 4000 times the blast & explosive force than ours & NATO's. What are they smoking in DC that makes them sound so stupid??????
Maybe what Zelensky smokes?
He doesn't smoke but he certainly sniffs cocaine, as was seen in several (very pathetic) self-published videos in the days after the Russian attack of February 2022.
Perhaps it is time to denazify Russia. And to the ones here always calling Ukrainians Neo nazis, here is an interesting article that will turn you off. Turns out, the real Neo nazis are in Russia and the Russian army.
Alexey Yurievich Milchakov is a Russian neo-Nazi, suspected war criminal and co-leader and co-founder of the Rusich Group, that operated from 2022 within the Wagner Group. Milchakov first came to public attention in 2011, after he filmed himself torturing and decapitating a puppy and posted footage of it online

No, no that's not going to work here. Ukraine and the Baltics and the Finns and Croats and everyone else who raised (and this is redundant) volunteer Waffen SS divisions and fascist puppet states, places where the mass killing of Jews and other minorities started merely when German Nazis came close, have and have had a Nazi problem. If you take the Nazi love and revisionism away from these folks there's not much left in the way of an argument.
The Ukrainian communities in Canada and the US, perhaps even more than in Ukraine proper, have a Nazi problem. Not 10 miles from my (now former) home in Philadelphia is a Ukrainian cemetery with a monument specifically to veterans of the 1st Galizien (I'm using the German there to make you feel gemuetlich for the Heimat; your buddies in Lvov seem to like to chant in German despite claiming to be nationalists, odd that) Waffen SS division that the community erected at no small cost c. 1995. It's not a monument to Ukrainian dead in general, it specifically bears a huge Waffen SS device carved into the massive stone. My wife attended the high school run by Ukrainian nuns which is attached to said cemetery, and she told many stories of their outright open Nazi support in the 1980s and 1990s, in an all-white largely Ukrainian private Catholic girls' school.
It is impossible to for any North American or Ukraine-based rally not to have Bandera flags and the flags of the Nazi puppet states of Galizien (administered by the German SS) and Belarus. The Belarus one seems a giveaway that this isn't about pride in Ukraine but in Nazism.
Are the small numbers of Russian neo-Nazis despicable? Sure they are. Especially as Russians, Russia and their church were targeted for elimination by you folks, now in multi-generational support of same.
Fanatic nationalists one can find in every nation, fanatics come in any shade, form and color. In Ukraine the big problem is the political influence they have and the support of the American neocons, see the regime change in Ukraine in 2014 and the people like Nuland and the result.
stop whining bout those nuns
there are tens times more russian neo nazis then there ever will be here so do yourself a favor and stop
NEO-Nazis? Sure. Old fashioned unreconstructed multi-generational Nazis? Ukraine, despite not having many people left, still in the lead on that count.
The nuns needed to stop whining about how concentration camp guards in all-volunteer SS units “Did Nothing Wrong.”
Please stand down Joey Biden and minions the American people have voted you and your warmongers out!
On the contrary, all signs are blinking "Bombs Away" everyday.
As much death and destruction as he can pack into his short time left.
He proved his sociopathy by approving landmines.
What a compassionate, empathetic, decent human being. /s
NYT is garbage
Kyle, you know perfectly well that he was joking. That was clear to anyone watching the video. He would not say that he prefers the administration that has been waging war on Russia.
Yes, Trump sanctioned Russia – more than any president before him. And he gave them weapons just like Obama had done. To show the media bosses that he wasn't "a Russian agent," but of course the leftists kept claiming that anyway, so, good job.
But Trump always disapproved of Kiev's aggression toward Donbass and would not have given Zelensky free reins like Biden did. He has repeatedly criticized the current war. Why leave that out to make Trump and Biden sound the same?
Putin, after decades in office provided a perfect diplomatic response, politely pointing out what Trump did and what Harris might do if elected. He did not say he preferred Harris or Trump.
Yes. Poor Donald, so misunderstood.
Trump:
'The Fake News Media refuses to report that I was the one who very early and strongly gave the anti-tank busters (Javelins) to Ukraine, while Obama/Biden was giving blankets, to great and open complaints
'Then Biden came in, and canceled the remaining military equipment that was packed, loaded, and ready to be shipped. Now the Fake News Media is trying to say that Trump gave Ukraine nothing and it was Biden who is their great friend and gave them weaponry. The dishonesty is so unbelievable. All I can do is report it!'
But they also warn me that the future President Trump is too dumb and dangerous to be trusted with our nukes.
Sheer madness in Washington DC and in some European capitals.
Those idiots want to destroy the planet.
You. Just. Can. Not. Fix …………. The Stupid.
They are crazier than I thought possible, they would turn over nuclear weapons to a man who sold his nation for a couple of villas, Do the insane people in Washington have any idea what responsibility stands for? They act like they never heard that they are responsible for the bloodbath and death the stupid Clown in Kiev committed did based on their demands. Stupid like the Senator in S.C. Lindsey Graham did, at least he did tell why they kill all the Palestinians, he said, because it is profitable. Enough to p*ke.
hello! I am friend of christian
i saw he got banned for being racist which i found funny so i'm here to continue his legacy without the racism
we've been friends since we were in what wuld be americas 1st grade
You are very welcome here. Feel like home.
99.9% of commenters here have your back and your friend's too but just dress it up a little. Don't be too obvious.
Oh and be sure to follow the blog guides I have never seen.
Perhaps you or others can facilitate that. I'm a little eyesight challenged.
Lastly, most folks here speak Russian so your name is fine.
ah i can tell THATS sarcasm, at least
Not sarcasm.
oh..
I doubt most speak Russian…
The West has been wrong on every assessment of Russia, and it's wrong now. Russia doesn't expect any changes under Trump, especially given the ridiculous "peace plans" that have been leaked so far. Russia will not "wait" for Trump or anyone else if it feels threatened. And just try sending the neo-Nazis nukes — you'll never hear the man count ten.
you are right – the west HAS been wrong on the assesment of the New Putininst Russian Schizofascistic EMpire
the West overestimates its power
You are right, the West lied about Russia invading Ukraine. That never happened.
my english is not so well as christians was. Was your statement… sarcasm?
You can speak Russian here.
Most posters will understand but they won't admit it.
me and christian made agreement that if we learn russian we both have to abandon our friendship because if we agree on one thing, its the disliking of russian
Wink wink.
do you support Russia or Ukraine?
my Homeland
i also go to university of lviv
acceptance rates are very high!!
"..acceptance rates are very high!!" – it would seem so, yes. Doesn't do much to raise the level of confidence in a future for Ukraine.
There it is. You ARE Christian.
Why don't you speak Ukrainian then?
This is true, the West does indeed overestimate their power. Mix that in with the arrogance, the hubris, the incompetence to the point of sheer stupidity and you get this toxic brew that if current Western leadership only were this tiny bit smarter than they are, would be able to learn faster, is a dangerous thing to stubbornly keep imbibing. Otherwise at some point Darwinism is going to kick in.
This is true, the West does indeed overestimate their power.
I see what you did there. Well done.
Yes, the West was wrong went it told the world since September 2021 that Russia was getting ready to invade Ukraine.
But yes, that assessment was wrong. Neo Nazi Kremlin never invaded.
The West was wrong when it began expanding NATO when they said they wouldn't.
Awww, you are such a sore loser.
It hurts to be a loser, I know.
But it is self inflicted, you put too much trust on Putin and he let you down.
Self-fulfilling prophesy. They knew Putin would take the bait sooner or later.
Of course you don't know Biden willfully provoked Russia, Biden provoked that made him the aggressor.
FYI
William Joseph Burns (born April 11, 1956) is an American diplomat and the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) during the Biden administration since March 19, 2021.
Ambassador Burns wrote the diplomatic Nyet means Nyet note to DC concerning the Russian redline but Washington knew better. THAT IS HISTORY, not opinion, fact. Biden is the war criminal, Ukraine is the war he provoked, it is his responsibility, he is responsible for the death of hundreds of thousands young me KIA. Biden is guilty.
The former Soviet nuclear weapons deployed in The Ukraine were returned to…RUSSIA. "Biden" can't give them anything "back."
Further, any attempt to arm The Ukraine with nuclear weapons would result in IMMEDIATE nuclear warfare against both The Ukraine and any NATO state that attempted it.
The only path to peace is for "the West" to BACK OFF.
Again, Ukraine can build their own nuke if they don't already have some.
Don't be so naive. The Kremlin is not, they know better.
Russia won't let them build a nuke, just like Israel purports to not let Iran build a nuke.
They not going to give Ukraine nuclear weapons. That is just not going to happen.
Probably. But the fact that they're even considering it is most worrisome.
they should give some to us for the fun of it
You are weird, actually nuts, if you think that is fun.
It doesn't matter what you believe. It matters what the Russians think.
And after the US/NATO repeatedly said they weren't going to send things like tanks, F16's and such, the Russians aren't likely to be trusting.
BTW, did you know that there is no way to tell whether a missile has a nuclear warhead or a conventional warhead until it strikes? Did you know that the USA intends on supplying or has supplied Ukraine AGM-158 JASSM missiles? Did you know that that missile system is nuclear capable? Did you know that it is a stealth missile? Fired from F16 fighters? (and F35 fighters).
https://transatlantictoday.com/agm-158-jassm-specifications-buyers-recent-use-in-battlefield/22064/?amp=1
Note: see section 5 in the above
Did you know that nuclear B61 mod 11 and mod 12 have been deployed in Europe (GB). And those are designed as a decapitation/bunker buster munitions? And those can be delivered by F-35 Stealth fighters?
If you don't think that Russians are suspicious of this? Well, then you don't understand Russians at all.
And if you trust the people that run the USA….. You don't understand them either.
the rus probably dont understand themselves
–And after the US/NATO repeatedly said they weren't going to send things like tanks, F16's and such, the Russians aren't likely to be trusting.–
And after Russia repeatedly said they weren't going to invade Ukraine, the West isn't likely to be trusting.
Oh, that has to hurt.
Every weapon system that we/the US said we weren't going to contribute meant that we would.
The US claimed there were WMD in Iraq before the invasion of that country. The msm and democrats claimed Trump was a Russian agent.
And, in your country, you and other dupes claim the Maidan uprising was organic and domestic. Even though there were dozens of EU and US NGO’s that paid for the putsch. Heck, those paid to feed the crowds, provided cash and sleeping gear to “protesters.
So, lots of lies and deceptions. Russian hands are hardly clean. But the hands of the Western countries are positively filthy. This has been going on for years all over the world. Millions have died and 10’s of millions have been maimed and displaced as a result of the US and it’s allies. Your “patrons” are repeating the same things to Ukraine that they have done dozens of other countries.
“You shall know the tree by fruit it bears”.
Russians do honor contracts and they do keep their part of agreements and alliances. The same can't be said for the US.
You should keep up with news no matter how little there is. The Russians drew a red line, all the world knows it, they submitted a warning and an offer of Neutrality in return for a no NATO agreement in DEC. 2021. the whole world knows that too. The USA and all NATO nations have never denied the documented diplomatic exchange. Biden turned it down. But for you,
YOUR IGNORANCE IS BLISS!!!!
Ukraine doesn't need to be handed Nukes over. They have the resources and intellectual scientific capacity to build one.
The Ukrainian nukes that were handed over to Russia under the Budapest Memorandum which granted them Sovereignty were later dishonored by Putin. These nukes were built domestically with Ukrainian expertise.
That said, Ukraine is more than capable to build at least tactical nukes, hence the Kremlin is so afraid to launch nukes at Kyiv. There is a big chance that in the event Russia launches a nuke attack against Ukraine, there will be an instant retaliatory attack.
An even more scary scenario is that such retaliatory nuke attack can come from within Russia.
Peaceful Putin can make threats all he wants but HE knows.
Also, there is a reason why he called NATO/US in advance to his ballistic missile PR stunt from couple of days ago.
He won't do it for real. He knows the consequences.
He'll just focus now on getting his manpower and weaponry support from North Korea until his economy collapses.
ah yeah Christian told me there was only a few other Ukraine supporters and that you were one of them. Thank you for supporting us against fascistic terroristic aggression
Wow, you must have thought Knapp was really stupid. The more I read, the more obvious it is that you are Christian.
You might want to read the articles of the Budapest memorandum. Article 1 invokes the Helsinki Accords. That reads:
Point VI: Non-intervention in internal affairs
Point VII: Respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms, including the freedom of thought, conscience, religion or belief
Point VII: Equal rights and self-determination of peoples
to wit:
Point VI violated in 2004 and 2014 by the USA.
Point VII violated by the Kiev regime and successor regimesin 2014 and after.
Point VII violated by the Kiev regime and successor regimes in 2014 and after.
So, Putin did violate the Budapest memorandum. AFTER the USA violated their pledge not to interfere in the internal affairs of Ukraine. Twice.
As far as the nukes go? Ukraine couldn't maintain them at that time and many were nearing the end of their service life. Ukraine also was paid for those nukes and the RF provided a pile of concessions for Ukraine giving them up. Ukraine was also concerned with nuclear material after the Chernobyl disaster.
Also, the NATO action against Serbia created a legal precedent for Russia's action against Ukraine. Putin has been careful, methodical, and lawyerly in justifying the Russian SMO. In contrast to the US, which will invade a sovereign country (Grenada) based on a phone call from the local college administrator.
Do you know what the Non-Proliferation treaty is about?
Inform yourself for a change.
"The Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, commonly known as the Non-Proliferation Treaty or NPT, is an international treaty whose objective is to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons and weapons technology, to promote cooperation in the peaceful uses of nuclear energy, and to further the goal of achieving nuclear disarmament and general and complete disarmament.[3] Between 1965 and 1968, the treaty was negotiated by the Eighteen Nation Committee on Disarmament, a United Nations-sponsored organization based in Geneva, Switzerland."
It used to be honored. " Not so by the USA and Israel"
We are perhaps in the era of the third Antichrist as prophesied in Nostradamus and indeed the book of Revelations…
Putin is a man of small stature as was Adolph Hitler and Napoleon Bonaparte. Food for thought…Keep the light bulb on and do not overlook the obvious: Men of War…
I do not mind being down voted as I respect everyone’s right to free speech but a bit of expounding would be of benefit for the purpose of clarity.
The leading candidate for Anti-Christ is currently…Donald J. Trump.
Putin is NOT the Problem.
yes he is
Not Genghis Khan? Or Tamerlane? Or Attila the Hun? Or Barak Obama?
Or Woman of War.
Kamala Devi (L) Harris.
Food for thought…
I'm pretty sure that Nostradamus didn't predict that, nor did Revelation/Apocalypse. Nostradamus did (IMO) predict Putin as the "resurrected" King of the Mongols (Russia was the Golden Horde in N's time) but only tells of him that he would reign "before and after March [2000] by good fortune" (or "in good time": "per bon hour"), nothing else. It's about the only of N's quartets that makes any sense, all the rest seems gibberish.
Apocalypse (Revelation) has a clear chronology of events beginning by the four horsemen, which are yet to be seen anywhere. No horsemen = no apocalypse and anyhow it never says "the third antichrist", in fact it never uses the phrase "antichrist" at all, just "false prophet", "beast", "dragon", etc. A possible "accomplished" interpretation could be that the four horsemen were the four first tetrarchs of Rome: Diocletian as the one to reign, Maximian as the one to make war, Galerius as the one to issue price lists and Constantius Chlorus "the pale one" the one to ride the pale horse ("chlorus") and be followed by Hades. This was actually followed by the triumph of Christianity by the hand of Constantine, son of Constatius Chlorus, and a the millenium in which Christianity (Islam included, as it's a mere non-trinitarian branch of Christianity) ruled much of Earth for a thousand years. Of course we'd need to ignore many of the details about all the portents and trumpets or interpret them quite carefully at best, but, if this interpretation is real, the prophecy of Apocalypse already happened and is over, as the thousand years were accomplished c. 1312 and the Knight Templars were condemned that same year at the Council of Vienne and Mansa Musa became Sultan of Mali. Surely you can continue from here…
putin is not a king of shit except of russia
Someone ruling with iron fist for 24 years is pretty much what someone would call a “king” in the 16th century. Russia is pretty much what someone would call “the Mongols” in the 16th century. Also consider that they used the Julian calendar if you’re gonna look on the details.
The ATACMS and Storm Shadows can't do much. First of all, only 5o ATACMS were shipped to Ukraine, and they used six of them to strike an old Soviet depot that has no connection to the current war. Five of the six were shot down.
They attacked such a meaningless target because they know other targets are too well-defended, and Zelensky just wanted to get a big BOOM on film for the ignorant audience.
ATACMS are fired by HIMARS, of which many have already been destroyed – one just a few days ago. Kiev moved them up to the border to Kursk and several were destroyed there in the last few months. Not much left.
The Storm Shadows were fired from a long distance, probably as far back as the Dniepr. Kiev doesn't dare risk the planes. Just like the much-vaunted F16s are kept way back in western Ukraine so they won't be shot down. The Storm Shadows couldn't travel far into Russia from that distance, so they could only hit a target near Kursk. Kiev of course lied immediately and said it was an important command center, even though Russia never places its command centers that close to the front.
They claimed a "Korean general" had been killed, and them walked it back and said he had been wounded. There's no proof, of course. Not even proof that any Koreans are there at all. No pictures, ever, of the Koreans the Ukrainians falsely claim to have killed – the Ukies would have taken pictures immediately if they could have.
The story about "command center" and "Korean general" were invented to explain away the fact that they have to fire missiles from so far away. As usual, Zelensky comes up with something flashy to say to explain away failure.
Meanwhile Russia hits Ukraine EVERY DAY with far more explosive power than Ukraine can use in a whole month, or even a season.
The Koreans are like the WMDs were.
they really can do "much"
ATACMS and Storm Shadows are NOT meant to turn the tide of the war…they're meant to provoke Russia into catastrophic escalation.
So, they rush to arm and escalate the conflict and believe that will deter Russia. We have had many years of insane politics, hoping that common sense prevails on the other side. On our side the logic and rational total insanity of asylum inmates is in control and prevails.
Putin and the Russians know Trump is unpredictable replacing a demented president, no one really knows who is in charge
No one in the US government talks rational, lies and obfuscating word salad is all the officials and their press speakers have to offer.
When President Putin, FM Lavrov and their speakers speak they are coherent because they know what they are talking about.
When was the last time the Biden people spoke honest and coherent to the journalist at press briefings? They know how to lie and obfuscate and do not respect the people. Press briefings are a meaningless, incompetent daily circus. When Putin speaks, he knows the subject, he respects the people he speaks to and he can be trusted, he means what he says. And the deranged Americans don't get it, even after Putin is in office for some 20 years.
Their demonized judgement is enough to call anyone a Putin Lover who has common sense and decency to know President Putin is a real statesman and deranged people can't accept it.

NATO GIVING ZELENSKY NUCLEAR WEAPONS WOULD BE LIKE
GIVING A CHIMP A MACHINE GUN
as seen in this video below!!
Zelensky in a chimp outfit 😉
Crazy!
Hey Lily, who built the Russian nukes during the Soviet Union? Were they all Russian scientists?
Do some research By the way, Ukraine has all the resources to build one.
Also, the AK47 given to the Chimp in the video had only blanks.
Ukraine will not be shooting blanks if pinched against the wall.
That's what Alec Baldwin thought too.
Ukraine will not be shooting blanks if pinched against the wall.
And what will be Russia shooting if their ass if pinched against the wall?
The Rosenberg couple had a lot to do with Russia getting nukes as other traitors including Greenglass, Fuchs. etc. Here’s the history: https://www.smithsonianmag.com/history/spies-who-spilled-atomic-bomb-secrets-127922660/
The current US administration must be investigated as one of most corrupt in US HISTORY! US mainstream media has been chasing the wrong Wicked Witch this whole time.
Lunatics…. This must be the “great reset” they were talking about. “ You’ll own nothing and be happy. “ And by you they mean those who avoid the immediate nuclear blast and far away enough not to get radiation poisoning.
A bunker in Tristan da Cunha?
Or Chile or Argentina. Sandwich Island chains good too. But you’ll get island fever.
Sounds better than cabin fever.

Few analysts know with certainty when Mr. Putin's distrust of American and European leaders to
o
k a dramatic, negative turn. After 9/11, the Russians offered a monument to honor the Americans who died that day. If memory serves, Washington grudgingly accepted, but it was later erected in an obscure New Jersey location.
It was around 2000 when President Putin asked Bill Clinton if Russia could join NATO and was rebuffed. The story is more complicated but one can read between the lines when considering rampant Washington corruption and the MICIMATT complex.
The protracted Minsk 2 'negotiations' were designed to allow massive Western-supplied arms to flow into Ukraine ahead of a deliberately provoked internecine war. One that would end all wars or mankind, if you subscribe to less optimistic Western and WEF intentions.
We then consider Boris Johnson's discussions with Zelensky in March 2022 which might have ended the conflict and prevented widespread economic damage and heartache. According to Pepe Escobar, NATO is planning a war against Russia without a foreseeable conclusion that piggybacks onto the current SMO.
The NordStream pipeline attack in September 2022. The economic sanctions against Russia.
A report has surfaced that an 'emergency meeting' in London on Tuesday with NATO types will address their current dilemma.

The following excerpts of the interview, plain-speaking and startling, should scatter the hypothesis that there is something special going on between Trump and Putin:
“Trump is considering ending the Ukrainian crisis, not out of any sympathy for Russia, but because he acknowledges that Ukraine has no realistic chance of winning. His goal is to preserve Ukraine as a tool for US interests, focusing on freezing the conflict rather than resolving it. Consequently, under Trump, the long-term strategy of countering Russia will persist. The US continues to benefit from the Ukrainian crisis, regardless of which administration is in power.”
“The United States has regained its position as the European Union’s top trading partner for the first time in years. It is the Europeans who are bearing the financial burden of prolonging the Ukrainian crisis, while the US has no interest in resolving it. Instead, it is more beneficial for them to freeze the conflict, keeping Ukraine as a tool to weaken Russia and as a persistent hotspot in Europe to maintain their confrontational approach.”
“Trump has made numerous statements that differ from the policies of Joe Biden’s administration. However, the US state system is an inertial structure that resists decisions it deems contrary to American interests, so not all of Trump’s ideas will come to fruition.”
“Trump will have a two-year window before the midterm congressional elections, during which he will have a certain freedom to push his policies through the Senate and the House of Representatives. After that, his decisions could face resistance both domestically and from US allies.” https://x.com/i/status/1860603063267959228
I agree with the Indian Punchline assessment: the Trump will attempt to freeze the Ukraine war and thereby maintain a US/NATO surrogate at Russia's border. But I do not believe that Russia will accept this 'deal' when it is offered by the US. I think it more likely that Russia will continue its offensive, even though it is costly in lives and treasure, as Russia has concluded that the US is incapable of honest negotiation.
Sergei Lavrov and Marco Rubio may have a discussion that will exceed five minutes if it comes to pass.
A meeting or phone call between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump may not exceed ten minutes.
NATO and Russia have many complex issues to ponder. The near-term elephant to tame is how extensive will Russia's Oresnik missile launches on Ukrainian, NATO, or EU military and civilian targets over the next few weeks.
I'm not expecting a notable military response from Paris or London. If they continue supplying their remaining Storm Shadow and Scalp missile inventories to Kyiv, then I'd expect a disproportionate Russian escalation response.
For many Americans like myself who were raised from middle and lower-class stature, it's not a collective blessing to have Ivy League lawyers guiding US foreign policy.
A classic analysis of the point in your last paragraph is the book by David Halberstam, The Best and the Brightest, published in the aftermath of the Vietnam War. The intent of the title was ironic, as the intellectual stars in JFK's cabinet, such as Robert McNamara, had great academic credentials and zero competence in foreign policy or strategy.
Indeed, it is not a blessing to have in charge of foreign policy a clique who consider themselves a rank above the street-level hoi polloi.
A phone call between Trump and Putin would beat out a phone call between Biden and Putin, whch never happened, and likely, never will.
So coincidentally, and for the first time since the Kennedy administration, a US president has ignored the leader of the Russian nation in a mutual crisis.
Can you say "reckless," children? I knew you could.
The Kremlin and the Russian Foreign Ministry are quite familiar with Trump's foreign policy team.
If Trump pulled the US out of NATO, most Russians would consider that a good start. Russia-US relations will differ little from the past four years.
Thanks for this. Adding the ff. reminder from the link you provide relates to our conversation yesterday on the question of Putin's conditions for settling the conflict vs. Trump's notions:
"Putin will not waver from the conditions he outlined in June for resolving the conflict: the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbass and Novorossiya; Kiev’s commitment to abstain from joining NATO; the lifting of all Western sanctions against Russia; and the establishment of a non-aligned, nuclear-free Ukraine."
Observing Washington's ability to pull a rabbit out of a hat will be of great interest and anxiety to all.
Those in such discussions clearly had their brains scooped out, put in a blender at high speed, and then stuffed back into their skulls and sewn up with upholstery thread.
The author of the article is spreading fake news of psychological, fearmongering war propaganda, as he provides no evidence for a discussion about the delivery of nuclear weapons to Ukraine. In any case, his referenced article from the New York Times of November 21, 2024, provides no evidence for such an infamous rumor.

Lindsey Graham on our interest in the Ukraine, as if we didn't already know it was never about 'freedom' or democracy':

The Lady Lindsey is full of S***…!
The question is which Empire will control the Ukraine, the American Empire or the Russian Empire?
Good catch! This same info available here:
The interview occurred Wednesday Nov 20 on FOX NEWS:
“The Republican senator [Lindsay Graham] from South Carolina told Fox News that the Ukraine conflict is ultimately “about money.”
An extract of the interview was published on the senator’s YouTube channel on Wednesday. “You know that the richest country in all of Europe for rare earth minerals is Ukraine?” he said, estimating the worth at 2 to 7 trillion dollars.
Graham added that Ukraine is ready to “do a deal with us,” but not Russia. “So it’s in our interest to make sure that Russia doesn’t take over the place,” he said, describing Ukraine as the “breadbasket of the world.”
“We can make money and have an economic relationship with Ukraine. It would be very beneficial to us, with peace,” Graham went on to say. “Donald Trump is going to do a deal to get our money back, to enrich ourselves with rare earth minerals. A good deal for Ukraine and us.”
The president-elect, he added, will also help settle the conflict by concluding an “honorable deal” that would avoid “humiliating” Russian President Vladimir Putin and setting the stage for another conflict.
“Donald Trump knows how to end wars. All Joe Biden knows how to do is start wars,” he said.

Russia will nuke European population centers. The war will spill over.
As far as Russian deterrence, it bears repeating that Moscow will do everything possible to enable the US and Europe in their economic destruction.
Should this destruction precede a nuclear exchange, my instincts inform me that Washington will gravitate toward initiating a nuclear first strike before Russia, China, and Iran respond.
Will Russia supply the Houthis, Hezbollah, and Iran with the Oreshnik missile that includes Russian military technicians?
That leads to an Israel-centric question: What two or three destroyed Israeli infrastructure and population targets would influence Netanyahu to heel?
The Kremlin may believe the US isn't capable of launching a nuclear strike along the same probability as the Israelis of invoking the Samson Option. If the Americans launch nuclear strikes toward Russia and its allies, it's a given Putin will be pressured to launch nuclear strikes on Israel.
A 'fortuitous' play toward destroying Zionism.
Ukraine never owned nukes. They were stationed there by the Soviet Union. The Soviets owned them.
The idea of Putin and Trump actually being or becoming friends is so horrifying to many neocons and Democrats that they would rather die in a nuclear war than watch it happen.
However most sane human individuals would rather not die in a nuclear war, and it wouldn't be their choice if it happened, either.
It should be. https://x.com/RobertKennedyJr/status/1859939142215618784
