Israeli Forces Kill at Least 52 Palestinians in Gaza Over 24 Hours

Israel continues to tighten its siege on northern Gaza

Gaza’s Health Ministry said Sunday that Israeli forces killed at least 52 Palestinians and injured 128 in the previous 24 hours, bringing its recorded death toll since last October to 42,227 martyrs and the number of wounded to 98,464.

The ministry’s numbers don’t account for Palestinians who are missing and presumed dead under the rubble or indirect deaths caused by the Israeli siege. In northern Gaza, Palestinian rescue workers are unable to get to bodies left on the street due to Israel’s relentless attacks.

“For the ninth consecutive day of the siege of the northern Gaza Strip, there are many wounded and martyrs in the streets, and under the rubble, the ambulance crews are unable to retrieve them,” the Health Ministry said in an update on the situation in north Gaza.

Gaza’s Media Office said at least 300 Palestinians have been killed in northern Gaza since Israel escalated attacks there and tightened a siege on the area, which is the beginning of an ethnic cleansing plan known as the “general’s plan.” The Israeli offensive has focused on the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza.

Israel has ordered Palestinians in northern Gaza to head south, but there have been reports of Israeli forces firing on Palestinians trying to flee. Majed Bamya, a Palestinian envoy to the UN, described the situation in northern Gaza as a “genocide within a genocide.”

Israeli strikes on Sunday included an attack on the al-Shati refugee camp in northern Gaza. According to the Palestinian news agency WAFA, an Israeli drone targeted a group of children playing near a cafe in al-Shati, killing five of them and wounding several others.
