The US has discussed the idea of supporting Israel’s expected attack on Iran with intelligence or with airstrikes of its own, NBC News reported on Tuesday, citing two unnamed US officials.
The report said senior US military officials have discussed launching “very limited” airstrikes against Iranian targets inside Iran or outside of the country, though the US officials said intelligence support for Israel was more likely.
So far, no final decision on US action has been made, according to the report, and the US officials said Israel has not briefed the US on its specific plans to strike Iran in response to the Iranian missile barrage that hit Israel last week.
Iran launched nearly 200 ballistic missiles into Israel in response to multiple Israeli escalations in the region, including the July 31 assassination of Hamas’s political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran. In the aftermath, the US said it would work with Israel to ensure Iran faces “severe consequences” for the attack.
The NBC report said US officials were worried that Israel could launch its attack while Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is meeting with Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at the Pentagon on Wednesday. However, after the report was published, Gallant’s trip to the US has been canceled.
Israeli media said the trip was postponed because Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to speak with President Biden and wants the Israeli security cabinet to agree on a plan to attack Iran before Gallant heads to Washington.
The Israelis are considering several types of targets to hit in Iran: military and intelligence infrastructure, air defenses, and energy facilities. Based on media reports, Israel does not plan to strike Iranian nuclear facilities in its first attack, but could if Iran hits back and the situation turns into a full-blown war, which Israeli officials think is likely to happen.
This is what I said in a comment to Karl Sanchez' Substack post of October 7, 2024, where I addressed the alleged Iran "nuclear test" nonsense:
And here we are: the US is discussing joining in with Israel on the strike on Iran.
That was my initial thinking until I reviewed how the world found out about India, Pakistan, and North Korea's first nuclear tests. It was exactly the same way.
Iran's religious leaders have issued multiple fatwahs against the development or use of WMD in general and nukes in particular. Shi'ia Islam is very specific about leaving civilians out of any conflict, which is why they've only attacked Israeli military targets. While it recognized that civilian casualties are inevitable they are to be minimized, which nukes and other WMD are not capable of.
I think pragmatism is winning out.
It would be supremely stupid of them to try this as I said. Iran can NOT be a credible nuclear threat without more nukes and delivery systems than Iran could possibly build BEFORE it was nuked out of existence by Israel and the US.
And the Iranians know that and have said that before.
North Korea is NOT an example because their primary deterrent is a million-man army with thousands of missiles and artillery systems which war games show would cause 50,000 UIS casualties in the first 90 days of a US-NK conflict. That is their deterrent, not the few nukes they may have. Although Russia giving them new missiles has improved their nuke deterrent as well… That does not apply to Iran.
I'm against nuking up for Iran, but not for the reasons you state.
Remember, one nuke, delivered, would cause Israel not to exist. So it's not a question of numbers but one of genocidal intent, which Iran does not have.
North Korea's primary deterrent is that Seoul is within range of a LOT of well dug-in artillery which could flatten the city in minutes. Imagine for a moment the effect on world stock markets if Samsung, Hyundai, LG, and BNK Financial were all beheaded overnight. The PTB have no interest in ever experiencing a scenario like that.
US desperately wants to shift focus away from its losses in Ukraine, and Taiwan is not ready for pri
Taiwan will never be ready for "prime time" (I assume that's what you meant). By the time the US could get enough troops in place to do anything about an invasion the island would be entirely occupied even if the Chinese were using rowboats.
China and Taiwan like the status quo, they both get what they want out of the relationship. Taiwan's leadership is just milking the US for free money and weapons, they know which side their bread is buttered on. China makes up over 28% of Taiwanese exports, and Hong Kong another 14%. The US is only their third largest customer and barely ahead of the EU.
All the more reason to change the subject to a different war, and then not look back.
Taiwan is about to meet the movie "Animal House" where John Belushi describes the horrible mistake, "You trusted us." Ukraine too.
So, now on to Netanyahu's enemy, paid off AIPAC with war in Iran. Leave those other ideas behind in the rear view mirror, never looking back.
Yeah, there aren't enough radicals in Taiwan to strongarm the government into mobilizing the population to fight against their superpower neighbor.
Yeah, not ready for prime time. Both parties have clearly signaled that supporting Israel in the coming war with Iran is their #1 priority.
Taiwan was a major investor in China. They really are linked.
I remember in college in the mid-90s that the telecom industry was dubious about China’s proposal to upgrade its ancient creaking telephony system, much of which dated from shortly after WWII. It was expected to cost about $4.5 billion, and there was a lot of doubt about whether they could come up with that much US currency. Cisco, at that time located in an old warehouse, took the dive and became the 800 pound gorilla of the telecom industry for most of two decades.
Lies. propaganda, narrative building, misdirection, limited hangouts, election time funny business, etc. etc. In other words, trust nothing that comes from MSM, now or ever. Events will play out as they will.
True. But they give little heads up sometimes.
its important to know what people are being told and what lies are being used for Narrative Construction.
Harris just stated that Iran was our greatest enemy.
That leads to support that the US wants to bomb Iran or is using threat for control.
Leads to support from the Democratic Faithful, those fanatics screaming "Vote Blue no matter who!" even though they know their candidate will use their tax dollars to fund a genocide. Nothing a Democrat can do is wrong.
Reaper Party partisans don't need an excuse to attack Iran or any other brown people.
They build the propaganda first. Otherwise there might be some consternation with abandoned US citizens who get $750, while the MIC will get billions to kill more people.
Absolutely. If you want the American people to buy a brand new war, you have to sell it to them. And as salesmen like to say, always be closing. Don't stop selling until the deal is done.
Iran isn’t that brown…
Trump is ahead of her in belligerence there… What do Kennedy/Vance/Tulsi think?
She has buckets of blood, in receipts.
But I’m not arguing for Trump. She represents the administration in power now, which telegraphs the near future.
Trump would end the Ukraine war and the Mideast war by givng them a short time to wind up,then cutting off funds and supplies-fine by me.
Unless of course he cut off funding Israel. But you know that wouldn't happen and that's really why it's "fine" by you.
As the balance of world powers is shifting not in favor of U.S., it would be better for U.S. rulers if they distance themselves from criminal Zionist regime of Israel. Unfortunately for U.S. it is unachievable because the financial-political elites of two states are interconnected too deep.
There's the old saying, "If your only tool is a hammer every problem looks like a nail." The only tool these tools in Brainwashington have figured out is the use of violence, either economic or physical. Unfortunately for US citizens, and fortunately for the rest of the world, they're not very good using it. The only war we definitively won in the last 70 years was Grenada.
Actually I prefer the SlashDot poster's sig, "If your only tool is a hammer then every problem looks like the back of a skull", but most people have never heard that version. 🙂
The Yankee Empire should beat up on Granada every couple of years, just to improves its batting average.
"Brainwashington"
Good one.

Oh yes! Ronny Raygun told us that the Vietnam Syndrome had been excised by that superb victory over a powerful adversary.
uh oh….the USA itself is really cruising for a bruising
Iran has explicitly warned the USA, several times in fact, that it will attack US bases in the Persian Gulf if the US attacks Iran or any of its allies in response to israel's provocations.
I am surprised that these facts are not even mentioned in the least in this propaganda I mean NBC news report
American have forgotten the lesson from 9/11 that although we are laterally buttressed by two cozy oceans, our country does not exist in a bubble.
Russia could be brought into the coming war(s). Unlike Iran, Russia can reach the U.S.. All to fulfill a 50 year old plan for the U.S. to control the East.
From Scheerpost: https://scheerpost.com/2024/10/08/michael-hudson-and-richard-wolff-middle-east-exploding-ukraine-crumbling-us-take-action/
Americans have never lived with actual terrorism and really do not comprehend what it is. Terrorism isn't showy building collapses, it's a dozen guys with deer rifles shooting up the interties of our electrical grid and plunging the country into darkness. It's a guy stealing a gasoline truck, jackknifing it in a commuter tunnel, opening the taps, and setting it off. It's one person with a backpack wrapping a kilo of thermite to a railroad rail on a curve and shutting down a major power plant when it can't get coal. It's half a dozen guys with rented/stolen backhoes digging up natural gas pipelines and leaving New England without heat in February. It's a bulldozer ramming through the potable water treatment plant of a major city, or just dumping barrels of toxic waste upstream from its intake. It's thermite on bridges, bombs in emergency rooms, listeria and e coli in meat packing plants, fires at gasoline storage facilities, panic-causing smoke bombs in sports stadiums.
If the US were to actually invade Iran, Russia, or Venezuela our country is utterly unprepared for what would happen in response.
Where were you on Sept 1,2001?
I assume you mean 11 rather than 1.
Where were you June 14, 1989? I was teaching English as a Second Language in the Instituto Cultural Peruano-Norte Americano when we were bombed by the Sendero Luminoso. In November of that year we were bombed by the MRTA. In April of 1990 a massive car bomb at the nearby post office blew out almost all the windows in the Instituto. The rest of the time we were without electricity about 2-3 days per week because of constant attacks on the electrical grid, which also limited our potable water to about 5 days a week. Random buses throughout the country were regularly bombed, rural teachers and engineers like my wife’s brothers and sister were being murdered constantly, fuel depositories were set aflame. Large areas of the country were inaccessible.
September 11 was an event, I lived with actual terrorism. They’re not the same.
Yea, I didn’t see 9/11 as a big deal.
On 9/11 – I was going to work in Midtown on a perfect Tuesday without care in the world: coming out of the Subway, and then walking down the avenue – I had a unexpected view of a massive explosion of the North Tower – lost a half dozen friends that day. Courtesy of 5 Dancing Genociders and their gang.
I was getting ready for work.
I did not know that the worse was yet to come in the form of GWB and his "war on terror" that would last 20 years. The waste of lives. The waste of money.
The attack was not a surprise to me. I had read "Blowback" by Chalmers Johnson. I was not surprised that GWB would select a country not involved in the attack on the Twin Towers for Rummy's Shock and Awe.
What was a surprise was the rapidity of the manufacturing of consent for war. Even Dan Rather was all for revenge.
Senator Hollings of SC (Dem) was against!
And as demonstrated in Israel recently, Iran has precision hypersonic missiles, which the US still have not managed to perfect much less produce.
How to make a more inflammable situation combustible. Add US forces .
World War 3 is inevitable.
More 9/11’s or something similar here we go
The sabotage of the NS2 pipeline is similar to 9/11.

thank you for sharing this. “what we need is a global re-set on Peace…”. Amen! this lady from barbados is slaying it!
All to fulfill a 50 year plan by the U.S. to control the East. If we drop one bomb on Iran, we are then officially at war with Iran. Shias will then attack every U.S. military base in the ME. Russia may be drawn in. The idiots in this Biden administration and nearly the entirety of Congress may get us all killed.
I think that's exactly the plan.
And the candidates in waiting to replace the idiots in office are the same caliber idiots they want to replace.
Vance is smart, though still Zionist apparently. Were Trump to step down due to age, Vance might bring change.
He does not have much of a political record, he is Jr. senator from Ohio since 2023. But, anything is possible.
Except Trump stepping down because of age.
He claims he would.
Right. Trump will step down because of age. /s

Full-blown war in the Middle East is exactly what Israel wants. And, by extension, that is what the US also wants, because otherwise the US could put a lid on this pot by withholding further aid to Israel. Some will say that Israel's political lobbying power prevents such action, but when a large war is the likely outcome of inaction, alarms begin sounding in the Pentagon. And the State Dept. will not get the US into a war unless the Pentagon gives the okay. That is how it seems to me.
I suspect the US is itching for an excuse to attack Iran in hopes of crushing it with a shock-and-awe offensive.
It did not work in Iraq, it was not the cake walk as expected.
Iran was the enemy since 1953 when Mossadegh wanted to nationalize the British and American oil resources, how dare to think the oil belonged to the Iranians.
Than there was the criminal Reagan who made sure Iran and Iraq would really fight a bloody war with each other, revenge for getting rid of the Shah and some American diplomats and CIA agents kept hostage. They had been nice to Reagan but he turned on them anyway, decades of evil treatment of the Iranians and Iraqis followed by the evil American ruling elite.
But good old Ronnie brought us out of the Vietnam Syndrome with the dramatic attack on the super power, Grenada. Boy, that showed the world.
I remember it well.
I suspect that Israel has always been the "cats paw" for U.S. hegemony and access to……………………OIL.
Lord have mercy. how can we be this stupid and this evil? not our fight. as if iraq war wasn’t stupid enough, now we are going freaknik with elective war in the middle east.
Against a country three times the size of Iraq, with twice the population, an intact infrastructure, a fairly popular and uncorrupted government, a decently equipped and trained military, and a mostly homogeneous population well aware of who has been making their lives hard for the last three quarters of a century. Iran would make Iraq look like a stroll in the park, and the Joint Chiefs are aware. There's no way in hell that they'll sign off on an invasion (and Venezuela would be even worse).
Who is the Commander in Chief now? Certainly not Biden. Who can imagine Harris or Trump as Commander in Chief? Can it get any worse, more criminally insane? It is so sickening.
Hochstein and Blinken
I think you are right.
Plus more mountains/hills.
It's none of US business.
… And Iran is considering strikes on US bases in the gulf as retaliation…!
Shia Arabs will attack U.S. interests everywhere in the ME. Sunnis will join in.
Sunnis and Shia working together would be powerful. The US/Israel will have transnational Sunnis like al Qaeda/ISIS though.
Arab nationalism.

So many possible war crimes, but so little time until the election!
ICJ and ICC are as dead as the League of Nations was in the 1930s. "International law" is dead.
We could include the EU and NATO and the UN needs a reformation to survive. The veto power of the five permanent members has to go. It was the weapon of the USA to destroy the UN.
BRICS+ is the wave of the future.
BRICS+ would have the power AND HOPEFULLY the good will to reform the UN. The UN does have real positive values worth saving. The US has been destructive to all international institutions among them the UN. It needs real reform to make it what it is supposed to be, that is what is needed.
Oh sure, Egypt and the UAE, BRICs members, have demonstrated such militant steadfastness as hundreds of thousands of Palestinians and Lebanese have been slaughtered by the Fourth Reich.
But nothing will change, not even after a new president is sworn in. Each of the candidates will continue the Biden disaster of destruction, that is all they know. They too have no conscience and no morals, all they want is to play president.
Neither one has indicated any understanding of the responsibilities for the welfare of the nation that come with the job.
I think neither one of them ever read the preamble of the constitution and if they did they did not comprehend it.
“If the two parties are so diametrically opposite why does US policy follow the same trajectory no matter who is president?” – Caitlin Johnstone
Because the two party opposition is democratic window dressing.
Precisely. There is one dominant party, The Donor Class Party.

I knew Joe Biden was bad news back in 2020 and Bernie Sanders had a chance of winning but the DNC pulled some kind of maneuver to get other candidates to drop out. As a result we are stuck with this mess. Biden, Harris, and their staff should be impeached but no way for that with congress makeup controlled by the AIPAC.
I had figured that out when Biden led the Democratic side of the charge to repeal Glass-Steagall back in the Clinton Administration. Until then he was just another corporate-friendly warhawk, but that cemented his position as the financial industry's best buddy.
Those that did drop out committed their delegates to Biden, including Elizabeth Warren. It was a type of coup to prevend Sanders from progressing further in his campaign.
Those who dropped out had no power to commit their delegates to anyone. They either released their delegates, or didn’t. They could make recommendations, but once a bound delegate is released, he or she gets to decide who to vote for.
This is a war of choice, for both the United States of America, and the Apartheid State of Israel.
Both the ASI and USA can be the "bigger man" and decline to escalate, retaliate, or further provoke the IRI.
Start fresh, come to the table, talk, negotiate, and find a permanent peace that will definitely benefit all sides.
War of choice-Israel was attacked. The only apartheid states in the Mideast are the Arab ones that drove out all their Jewish citizens. Plenty of Arabs in Israel properl, enjoying equal rights.
I’ll use the method that is proving quite effective with the same tired s**t Major T. Frank Burns is cranking out in his Comments.
joke, you are LYING.
In 1948, Israel attacked and caused 700,000 Palestinians to flee their homes.
Since 1948, Israel had occupied Palestine. Palestinians were subjected to raids, killings, limited electricity, limited food, limited potable water, trapped in the largest open air concentration camp the world has ever seen.
According to international law, an occupied people have the right to attack their oppressor.
And no, Arabs in Israel do not hold equal rights.
Perhaps this may clear things up: From the Council on Foreign Relations https://www.cfr.org/backgrounder/what-know-about-arab-citizens-israel#:~:text=Israel%20was%20founded%20as%20a%20homeland%20for%20the
War of choice-Israel was attacked.
By Iran? Ignoring Israel's attacks on Iran I see.
Plenty of Arabs in Israel properl, enjoying equal rights.
Ignoring the Jewish nation state law again I see.
Are the military contractors not getting big enough paydays for supplying Israel and the Ukraine already? Are they really so desperate for cash we have to gin up a shooting war with Iran so the factories can stay in operation? It's sad that we've let our weapons production slip so far; Rosie the Riveter would be aghast at how few bombs and planes and ships and rifles we produce these days. I'm reasonably sure the likes of General Curtis 'Bombs Away' LeMay are sobbing at how weak and defenseless we've let ourselves become. Please, adopt a weapons system today.
I do hope that's sarcasm . . .
The Death Cult of the US and Israel have no idea what is in store for them. They have been drunk on their own hubris and propaganda for so long that the world at large has passed them by.
If Uncle Sam who is unprovoked here does this, China and Russia will see to it that Uncle Sam pays dearly. Israel is a blip on the map. If they choose suicide then let them…
Please dispense with the notion that the upcoming catastrophic war will be good for the USA or Israel. Quite the opposite, it will be the demise of the present world order and a total reshuffling of the deck. Both Congress and the President are just marking time and posturing before the upcoming cataclysm. The real powers that be are not even human anymore, more likely some AI profit algorithm like what now controls the hedge funds. The planet Earth will become inhospitable for actual human beings. Maybe they'll keep a few of us around as pets.
This is sheer madness.
Yep!

via Wyatt Reed on Telegram:
It's been over 24 hours since The Grayzone's Jeremy Lofredo, along with three other journalists, was brutally beaten, kidnapped, blindfolded, and dragged to an Israeli military base.
While the others have been released, Lofredo is still being held in Israeli custody, his phone seized by the occupying forces.
This blatant act of repression against journalists must be condemned. More details to follow.

He’s brave. I can’t imagine attempting such an investigation. I hope they don’t kill him, but they probably will.
The Biden administration will not do a thing. His administration and previous administrations, have done nothing when Israel has murdered Americans. Ableh. Rachel Corrie.
I saw that exposed on Judging Freedom by Aaron Mate'. The Biden administration better do something. ASAP.
Not one news site in msm is covering it.
Therefore, no pressure.
Did you notice that Assange thanked “conservatives” first? Maybe this unwieldy alliance of excluded groups will lead to something.
In the US you can pick any flavour provided it’s an establishment flavour. Maybe a resistance can arise similarly, catering to multiple groups.
If Kamala censors Twitter, decentralised chat might have arisen on cryptocurrencies by then, and related tech. Maybe there’s hope somehow.
There’s already a lot of decentralized chat, including some blockchain-based apps. The tech is there, it’s just adoption that’s slow.
Washington to bomb Iran?
That would certainly be a win for the various Neocon's in Washington who have advocated for bombing for the last decade.
Over the last several decades, the USA has considered dropping bombs on half the planet. The creeps running the DC establishment are people that should be institutionalised.
Put on a rocket aimed at the sun………………
When the “report” says no final decision has been made about a strike inside Iran, it really means the decision has been made.
Precisely.
Stupid is as stupid does, seems to be a lack of understanding of the world in Washington.
Here is one voice in the wilderness making sense of absurdity:
In Episode 139 of the No Limitations podcast Last Man Standing, Blenheim Partners’ Gregory Robinson speaks to Col. Douglas Macgregor (ret.), Former Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Defense.
In a thought-provoking discussion, which will no doubt generate significant debate, Douglas provides a commentary on the state of leadership in the wider world today. He turns to the major flashpoints across the globe, and he assesses the rapidly escalating conflict between Israel and other parties in the Middle East and the Russian war with Ukraine, sharing his perspective as someone who has endured the horrors and futility of war. Douglas also evaluates the likelihood of an act of aggression by China against its immediate neighbours such as Taiwan in the South China Sea. Returning to the United States, Douglas emphasises the need for cultural unity and the successful assimilation of new waves of immigration into mainstream society. He also touches on the need to act decisively to reduce the burgeoning government debt and the possibility of emerging nations embracing bitcoin to curb the influence of the United States dollar.
Douglas was first commissioned into the United States Army in 1976. During his 28 years of service, he was a leader of the 1st Squadron 4th Cavalry, the 1999 Kosovo Air Campaign, the Battle of 73 Easting during the Gulf War, and the offensive into Baghdad in 2002. By the time of his retirement in 2004, Douglas was a decorated veteran with several awards for meritorious service, including the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. More recently, Douglas was the Senior Advisor to the Secretary of Defense, a position he held until then-President Trump left office. Douglas has written several books on military operations which have been the catalyst for profound changes in defense strategy in the United States and abroad. Douglas has also appeared as a defense analyst on Fox News, CNN, BBC, Sky News and public radio.
Is Macgregor still predicting an end to the war in Ukraine in a week or ten days, as he did for the first six months plus, or did he finally stop being completely wrong?
As Clausewitz said War is the Ultimate game of chance and unpredictability is the only common denominator in all wars.
He also said that during hostilities the channel of communication between the adversaries needed to be kept open.
It is the main avenue to end hostilities. The Biden administration is not communicating or listening.
You're the first one I've seen mention that. I've been following it for over a year. He's been recently doing the same thing re the genocide regime. These conflicts will be protracted.
That’s the way Germany started WWI and WWII.
The German government thought they were militarily stronger than the UK and France.
That didn’t work for Germany in both instances.
"citing two unnamed US officials", and this is what they call journalism?
The tit for tat actions across the Mideast has the BS coming from all directions. Next will be the accusation that the US is going to attack Russia in conjunction with Ukraine.
As we acknowledge America is a fascist state, it's simple to understand how corporations and Israel control–prevent–debates.
Russia gave Iran S-400 missiles to take out jets and drones. Russian technicians will be operating them. Russia gave Iran advanced fighter jets. Once again, Russians will be the operators. Iran has precision guided missiles that have been proven to defeat the "Iron Dome" in Israel. Hezbollah is intact and can still fire off missiles, some of which are pretty advanced.
American air refuel jets are in Cyprus. I suspect that Iran could hit the airfields where they are, or, knock them out of the air.
If we do this, it will get nasty quickly. I watched Dr. Docrtorow on Judging Freedom this morning and he said that the EU is getting very tire of Israel, very quickly, not the least due to Christians being killed in Lebanon by Israeli attacks. No one remembers that 2% of the Palestinians in Gaza were Christian. Macron of France broached the subject of a weapons embargo against Israel. But of course our current administration will not consider that.
No, the US doesn't. Washington DC, the pentagon and Israel are pushing this destructive choice.
