Israel Kills 40 More Palestinians in Gaza Over 24 Hours

An Israeli strike on Saturday slaughtered 13 children and six women

Gaza’s Health Ministry said Sunday that Israel’s assault on the enclave killed 40 more Palestinians and injured 58 in the previous 24-hour period, bringing its death toll since October 7 to 41,431 and the number of wounded to 95,818.

“The Israeli occupation committed three massacres against families in the Gaza Strip, resulting in 40 martyrs and 58 injuries arriving at hospitals during the past 24 hours,” the ministry wrote on Telegram.

“There are still a number of victims under the rubble and on the streets, and ambulance and civil defense crews cannot reach them,” the ministry added.

The ministry’s figures are considered an undercount since they don’t account for the Palestinians who are missing and presumed dead under the rubble, which was previously estimated to be about 10,000.

Israeli strikes on Sunday included an attack on a school-turned-shelter for displaced Palestinians in the al-Shati refugee camp, west of Gaza City, which killed at least seven people. Palestinian officials said the head of Gaza’s Public Works and Housing Ministry.

On Saturday, Israel bombed another school in the al-Zeitoun neighborhood in Gaza City, killing at least 22 people, including 13 children and six women. Graphic videos of the aftermath show many wounded children, including some with missing limbs. According to Drop Site News, 30 people were injured in the attack, and nine children had to have limbs amputated.

According to Gaza’s Media Office, the school in al-Zeitoun was sheltering widows and orphans who lost their primary caregivers and were receiving aid through a charity program. Israel claimed the strike targeted a Hamas command and control center but offered no evidence.

Last week, Gaza’s Health Ministry released the names of 34,344 Palestinians who have been killed by Israeli forces, including 11,355 children. Among the children were 710 infants who did not make it to their first birthday.
