The Israeli government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is coming under increasing domestic pressure to reach a new hostage deal with Hamas after the Israeli military mistakenly killed three Israelis who escaped from captivity in Gaza.
Israeli troops in Gaza shot the three Israeli hostages while the escapees were shirtless and waving a white flag. Two died immediately, and the third was wounded and sought shelter in a nearby building. He cried out for help in Hebrew before being shot again and killed.
At a funeral for one of the victims, Alon Shamriz, family members said he was abandoned and murdered by the Israeli military. “Those who abandoned you also murdered you after all that you did right,” Shamriz’s brother said.
Family members of Israeli hostages in Gaza met with ministers in Netanyahu’s war cabinet on Saturday and called for Israel to cease its current operations and work toward another deal with Hamas. More than 100 Israeli women and children were released as a result of the last deal with Hamas, and over 130 Israelis remain captive in Gaza, although some are dead.
Netanyahu’s government faced backlash after it was revealed that the war cabinet blocked Mossad chief David Barnea from restarting hostage negotiations in Qatar, where Hamas political leaders are based. But now it appears some diplomacy has resumed as Barnea met with Qatar’s prime minister in Europe on Friday, and Doha said it’s involved in diplomatic efforts to reach another pause in the Israeli onslaught in Gaza.
Despite the growing calls for diplomacy, Netanyahu on Sunday vowed to keep military operations going. He said the brutal Israeli assault will continue “to the very end” until “there will be no authority that will continue training for terror” in Gaza. “After we have eradicated Hamas and Gaza will be demilitarized under the control of Israel, there will be no one who will educate their children to annihilate Israel,” he said.
The US-backed Israeli onslaught has killed over 19,000 Palestinians so far, including over 7,500 children. Gaza’s healthcare system is shattered, and many Palestinians are now starving and suffering from disease due to the Israeli siege.
I can no longer support the state of Israel and as much as it pains me to say so, the US needs to with hold any further funding of Israel, at least until Israel makes a true peace with the Palestinian People, otherwise we are complicit in said war crimes.
The US also needs to become more proactively involved in the process of peace and justice. This is a necessity.
Would it “pain” you to say that Charles Manson was a mass murderer, or there’s corruption in high places? It never “pains” to me to out crime!
You’ve lost me on this one Donna. Israel didn’t just start their obnoxious brutality towards Palestinians.
Hebron massacre of peaceful,unarmed Jews.
And somehow that means Israel’s obnoxious brutality is warranted? Shall we compare the Hebron massacre to the Gaza massacre? The IDF does in Gaza what was done in Hebron in about an hour. And it’s been ongoing for over two months.
It takes two sides to make peace.Hamas refuses to even negotiate, rejectionist.
Hamas — October 7, 2023
Israel — January 1- December 31
— for 74 years.
Hamas — bad
Israel. — good
Israel —
has the right to defend itself
Palestinians
have no right to defend themselves
The white flags just make for convenient aiming points. Also reports of an IDF sniper taking out some women sheltering in a church. It looks like the plan may be just to kill them all.
Straight from the ‘Nam play book – kill anything that moves, friendly or not. Just kill them.
Straight from the playbook, “We have to kill them to save them.”
Rather clear from the start. If October 7 did not happen, Netanyahu would have invented one.
Sure, the Israelis can at any time ramp up the level of provocation that will elicit a response happens a lot during election season or if the submarine case threatens to surface again.
Not much Christmas joy & cheer for us this holiday season of our countries support for genocide & cruelty.
Hmmm. White guy with red hair and blue eyes waving a white flag and yelling in Hebrew not to shoot him? Must be Hamas!
On another note, had these guys turned out to be shirtless Gazans waiving a white flag, Isreal would have gunned them down without so much as a murmer. They were accidentally mistaken for Palestinian civilians, not accidentally killed.
Pressure? I don’t feel any presssssure. Says Satanyahu as he goes to sleep. He has never slept more like a baby in his life. Israel is so nice, “the Israeli military mistakenly killed three Israelis who escaped from captivity in Gaza.”
Have you all noticed how confusing the MSM’s titles to this story? Most of them were along the line that “Israeli Army mistakenly killed three hostages.” Most of us not paying attention would not go through the necessary trouble of sifting through a pile of cow manure details to reach the conclusion: “the Israeli military mistakenly killed three Israelis who escaped from captivity in Gaza.” The older I get, the more suspicious I become of anything they say.
I don’t know about the mistaken part in any scenario.
ED, I was trying to be nice. Did I mention that “Israel is so nice” today? Israel killed 3 Israeli hostages.
Murderers don’t like witnesses. And how do we know “ they escaped” v being set free?
Wow. I didn’t think of that. You mean “set free” to “rest in peace (RIP)?”. Like forever?
I mean they were Israeli military who, no doubt, saw their own military firing on civilians. They may have been set free by Hamas. Zionists’ narrative is that Hamas has been evil but some of the hostages have said they were treated well. The Hannibal Directive dictates shooting anyone including soldiers. It’s all about physical but also story control.
If they are dead, how were they able to tell anyone about an escape?
This also made more credible stories by Israeli survivors of Oct 7 that IDF killed many Israelis without taking care to avoid that happening!
I quit watching US main stream media 15 years ago, so I didn’t notice anything… But I’m sure that is what they do…!
Me too, not to mistaken with other me too(s). I don’t either but I ran into that title repeatedly while scrolling through on YouTube and Twitter. LOL
I occasionally tune in to see what levels of deceit they have achieved. Then I leave abruptly as internal rage bubbles up like a volcano.
It wasn’t a “mistake” in the sense that the soldiers are clearly under orders to kill anything that moves; but, in the larger political and moral sense it was as clearly a terrible blow to popular morale.
Not at all-war is confusing, people also get shell shocked, fearful, and full of adrenaline. Shit happens.
Yes but large patterns have emerged, and that signifies policy.
More like “Israeli Army mistook 3 unarmed Israelis waiving a white flag for 3 unarmed Gazans waiving a white flag, and gunned them down without mercy because in addition to being evil they are also incompetent enough to mistake a red haired, blue eyed, white guy yelling “don’t shoot” in Hebrew for a Gazan”
Just to make sure everyone understands, this is Yotam Heim:

Edit: This was Yotam Heim. 😧
To be fair he was waving a white flag. Lots of Palestinian civilians do that as well, ya know.
I feel so sorry for the nice Israelis who gunned down their own. My tears would be non-stop from feeling their pain while they’re squeezing their triggers so hard. I will start crying now if Steven Spielberg makes a movie to document their agonizing guilt. The good guys fighting for “Freedom and Democracy” killing “human animals” sometimes mistaking their own for being “human animals” especially because they look more human–not really animals. I’m grateful God chose us but He is responsible because He could have made it easier for us to distinguish if He gave them big horns or tails or something.
What we saw with these three hostages being gunned down is exactly what happened on October 7- Israel indiscriminately mowed down “terrorist” and hostage without as much as a peep! Those 1400 dead Israelis on October 7 should be placed at Netanyahu’s doorstep and if Israelis can’t see this or accept it as fact, they will be stuck with a warmongering self-justifying dictatorship! Is this the best “leadership” that Israelis can present to the world? Between the USA and Israel there are serious problems accepting that people would vote for crooks like Netanyahu and Biden!
Since the IDF has been forcing noncombatants to strip down to their shorts as a way to demean them, I’m sure they must have thought that these 3 men were Palestinians that had escaped from the IDF somehow. Especially since they were waving a white flag.
Either that or Israeli troops are color blinded…!
Biden then told the donors that Netanyahu justified the bombing by likening it to Hiroshima and the carpet bombing of Germany. Yes, you heard that right:
It was pointed out to me — I’m being very blunt with you all — it was pointed out to me that — by Bibi — that “Well, you carpet-bombed Germany. You dropped the atom bomb. A lot of civilians died.”
Biden says he responded, “Yeah, that’s why all these institutions were set up after World War Two to see to it that it didn’t happen again.”
Friendly fire incidents are always tough to deal with. They happen in every war.
This was not a case of friendly fire.
It was evidence of two states of justice misapplied.
Of course it was friendly fire. Do you think that they would have shot them if they knew they were hostages?
They were un-armed and surrendering.
They were shot because the IDF thought they were Palestinians.
Which of course makes it a friendly fire incident. When you shoot at your own thinking they were the enemy it is called friendly fire. Look it up.
Perfectly understandable. Who wouldn’t think this guy was a Hamas fighter?
https://xdn.tf.rs/2023/12/16/tan2023-12-16093817638-1-460×0.jpg
When you mistake friendly combatants for enemy combatants it is friendly fire. When you gun down friendly civilians because you thought they were civilians you want to ethnically cleanse that just makes you an incompetent murderer. Which is a pretty apt moniker for the IDF.
There is a reason soldiers come back sick from wars-confusion and stress-do not criticize others if you have not seen battle.
I’ve served my time in the American armed forces in the Afghan conflict and lost friends there and we never murdered people in cold blood like the IDF is doing on a regular basis in Gaza. Then again we weren’t weak ass bitches.
Yeah they intended to murder three Palestinians waiving a white flag in cold blood and instead killed three Israelis waiving a white flag in cold blood. Including a blue eyed, red haired, white guys speaking Hebrew, whom they inexplicably mistook for a Palestinian.
Technically yes, it was friendly fire. But that usually happens due to confusion and chaos. This was the IDF thinking they were murdering three unarmed shirtless Palestinian carrying a white flag. Nothing more. The fact that they turned out to be Israelis doesn’t change the intent.
If that’s not self destruction I don’t know what is…!
No, it is YOU who are educating the children of Gaza (and not only them) to annihilate Israel … these children who have lost limbs, siblings, and parents will grow up and be the most implacable enemy you have ever seen.
And there will be more of them than ever before.
Chris Hedges: The Death of Israel
Another oxymoron, friendly fire!
I put this in the wrong place at first:
If it’s any consolation, if they were in uniform, they would’ve done the same.
The IDF is a mob in uniform. Full stop.
Yeah, right.
