Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said late Tuesday that Israeli forces were fighting in the “heart” of Gaza City as Hamas is claiming its fighters are inflicting heavy losses on the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
“IDF forces are in the heart of Gaza City,” Gallant said. “They came from the north and the south. They stormed it in full coordination between land, air and sea forces.”
According to The Cradle, Hamas’ al-Qassam Brigades said in a statement on Wednesday that since early that morning, its fighters destroyed “15 enemy vehicles in several areas in Gaza.” The Quds Brigade, the armed faction of Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), also said it targeted Israeli armored vehicles.
The IDF said two of its soldiers were killed on Wednesday, bringing the Israeli death toll since the ground invasion began on October 27 to 33. Hamas has previously claimed more Israeli troops are being killed in the ground fighting than Israel is reporting. It’s unclear how many soldiers Israel has sent into the besieged enclave.
According to AP, clashes took place only 0.6 miles from al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical facility in Gaza that’s packed with thousands of patients and people seeking refuge from the relentless Israeli airstrikes. Israel has previously bombed an ambulance leaving al-Shifa and is claiming Hamas has headquarters under the hospital.
The fighting in the north has caused thousands more Palestinians to flee on foot to the south, which is also being bombed by Israel. Gaza’s Health Ministry said Wednesday that since October 7, 10,569 Palestinians, including 4,324 children, have been killed in the Israeli bombardment.
The old saying “Truth is the first victim of war”. Only measures of success that I believe in is the number of hostages coming out alive and number of rockets being fired at Israel. As for the number of Hamas killed, who knows? How can you tell the difference between an Hamas fighter and a male civilian who is old enough to fight?
Never is there mention of the 5,000 + hostages in Israeli jails. Some are children under 14 years of age.
To the Israelis and Americans they are probably one and the same.
2/3 of casualties have been women and children
The heavy bombardment of the IDF failed to subdue the defenders, or even to stop rocket attacks on southern and central Israel. However, it inflicted heavy losses on civilians, especially those trapped in northern Gaza.
So far, you are correct. We will see what happens in future with the rocket attacks and hostages.
Israel is stirring a huge sh-t storm. I don’t want them to get one more bloody dime, not one. They want to stir it up, they can fight it alone.
Donna, you and I both know that Israel had no choice after Oct 7. Now you may not want to support Israel and that is your right. My feeling is the faster this war ends, the less civilians will die. If giving Israel smart bomb kits helps shorten the war that is a good thing. Israel will drops bombs on Gaza with or without our advance weapons. It is better to drop one smart bomb on target in a urban area than drop 5 regular bombs. Both will get the job done. The second will kill more civilians.
You make some sound points Tim but, at this point, I question Israel’s right to even be a country. I have no desire to see us all involved in a potential nuclear war.
I don’t recognize it at all. Israel was destroyed by Romans over 2000 years ago.
I respect you for being so forth right, I do.
For myself, I just want a saner world to live in….
May be a long wait.
I don’t care if you think the moon is made of green cheese.
Does it matter if Israel has the right to be a country at this point? They are a country and that is hard fact that can not be wished away.
There is one country in the world with a very large Jewish population and government. Who is anyone to question their right their right to existence. The Nerve-when we see how China,Iran,North Korea and Venezuela behave. Really what nerve!
There’s no such thing as a right to an ethno-religious apartheid garrison state.
Apartheid and garrison state were forced upon them.
Well, at least you’re admitting that apartheid is apartheid now. That’s progress of a sort.
Apartheid is too gentle a word to describe the treatment of Palestinians by the Zionist colonizers.
Genocide is a closer fit.
The brutal Hamas pogrom deserved a very strong response.
If people want to injure you,it s totally reasonable to keep them away.Don’t you have a fence in your yard to keep people out?
Yes, I’m aware of your argument for why apartheid is necessary.
I’m just happy that you finally stopped denying it’s apartheid.
No, I don’t have a fence in my yard to keep people out. But if someone comes on my yard with violent intent, I do have a box of double-ought shells sitting next to my 12-gauge to deal with the situation.
You are not allowed to support ✡️ here you heretic!
There’s nothing like a hate site that calls itself antiwar.
There’s no such thing as a right to an ethno-religious genocidal garrison state.
Fixed, no charge.
Apartheid is too gentle a word to describe the treatment of Palestinians by the Zionist colonizers.
There’s no right to a state. Any adjectives thrown in are just for descriptive purposes.
Apartheid is an accurate descriptor for e.g. how the Israeli regime has administered the West Bank.
“Genocidal” has, at least up until now, been entirely notional. The Palestianian Arab population is not just growing rather than shrinking, it’s growing faster than the Palestinian Jewish (aka “Israeli”) population.
Genocide is defined by the intent. Israeli ethnic cleansing and genocide has failed because despite Israeli efforts the Palestinians continue to resist and refuse to be erased from history. Unsuccessful genocide is still a crime against humanity.
Only there are many Moslem and Christina citizens of Israel doing quite well.
There’s no right to a state. Any adjectives thrown in are just for descriptive purposes.

Any chance of getting whatever your complaint is in some kind of at least nominally coherent form?
The people who Israel stole their country from have every right not only to question Israel’s right to exist, but to resist Zionist colonizers.
Where were you when the Arab world expelled its own Jewish people, who had lived there for 1,000 years before the birth of Islam?
I was not alive at that time, but I agree that the Zionist seizure of Palestine had many negative consequences.
What were the consequences of the Jews being evicted from the Arab world?
Yoav Gallant, stated, unambiguously, ‘I have ordered a complete siege on the Gaza Strip. There will be no electricity, no food, no fuel, everything is closed. We are fighting human animals and we will act accordingly’…On October 14, in the most prominent warning that Israel also had nothing but contempt for international humanitarian law, which absolutely prohibits the indiscriminate targeting of a civilian population, Israel’s President Isaac Herzog fully endorsed the collective punishment of the entire population of Gaza, stating, ‘It’s an entire nation out there that is responsible. It’s not true this rhetoric about civilians not aware not involved, it’s absolutely not true’, while, in an interview, Sara Netanyahu, the Prime Minister’s Wife, went even further than Yoav Gallant, hoping for ‘a very big revenge’, and adding, ‘I don’t call them human animals because that would be insulting to animals.’…Others explicitly called for genocide — the journalist Shimon Riklin, for example, who tweeted that ‘Gaza should be wiped from the face of the earth’, and another journalist, Roy Sharon, who stated, ‘I spoke about a million bodies not as a goal, I said that if, in order to finally eliminate the military capabilities of Hamas … we need a million bodies, then let there be a million bodies.’ The popular Israeli singer Eyal Golan, meanwhile, said, ‘Erase Gaza, don’t leave a single person there’, while Moshe Feiglin, a former Likud MP, stated, ‘It is not Hamas that should be eliminated. Gaza should be razed and Israel’s rule should be restored to the place. This is our country.’…More recently, on Israeli TV, Feiglin, visibly consumed with genocidal hatred, said, ‘We still have not revenged in a biblical way. We did not burn Gaza to ashes immediately. Create a tremendous humanitarian crisis. Level the entire area. Do not leave a stone upon stone in Gaza. Gaza needs to turn to Dresden. Annihilate Gaza now!’…Another journalist, David Mizrahy Verthaim, noted admiringly that ‘World War II ended with the USA inflicting a Holocaust on Hiroshima, and even before giving the Japanese a chance to digest, dropped another bomb on Nagasaki, while promising that every Japanese city would be destroyed until surrender. The Japanese were no less crazy than the Arabs.’…
Jews and Arabs lived together in Palestine peacefully for many centuries prior to the founding of Israel in 1948.
Zionism is not primarily a religious issue and the dominance of Hamas jihadists in Gaza is in large part due to open and secret support from the Israeli military and successive Israeli governments.
Remember that while politically Hamas is an extreme right wing organization at best, it’s the closest thing to State opposition to Israel because the corrupt Arab dictatorships cower and accept their blood money from Uncle Sammy and Company.
You write of a Sampson but I envision Saladin Rising. During the Crusades, enraged Arabs overthrew feeble regimes who would not fight. They united against the Crusaders and drove them out of Palestine.
History repeats, Inshallah.
Ask the Jewish peoples of Egypt,Syria,Libya,Ethiopia, Iraq,Oman Algeria,Tunesia,Iran, ect ect ect-750,000 people who had committed no crimes, who after centuries of abuse, were evicted from their homes. Get your facts straight!
I have my facts straight. 750,000 Palestinians were expelled by Israel.
Jews and Muslims lived in peace in Palestine until the Zionists came and stole Palestine.
Immediate tactical response neglect overall strategic failure. Even if you believe it was a justified response, the overall fallout may end the zionist pseudo-state in Palestine entirely. Entire world is up in arms against this genocide. There will be no way to ‘manage’ this info-politically and no way to wash off blood of dead children.
In simple words, this is a clusterfuck of epic proportions for the zionist regime.
“may end the zionist pseudo-state in Palestine entirely” I will take that bet. Do think this is first time Israel has face this threat?
There are always choices. IMO they want to clear the area so that they can profit from the oil and natural gas discovered there, time will tell.
ah!
Yep. There is a ton of natural gas off the shored of Gaza. Nice beaches too. Just think, the Zionists will rebuild the harbor they blew up, rebuild the airport they blew up. There will be upper scale condos lining the beaches. But where will the labor come from after the Palestinians are herded to the Sinai desert to live in tents and die? Perhaps they will let a few in to scrub the floors, cook the food, mow the lawns, clean the toilets, all manner of labor. Great, huh?
Get real-people are fighting and dieing over beach resort land?
Claims the lying POS that claimed he had no “dog in this fight.”
End US aid to Israel!
Opposing genocide is antisemitic. Stop that.
I am with you, Donna. We control the purse, the weapons. We could stop this, just like we could stop that mess in Ukraine. We have really, really dumb people in our administration, and in congress, in general. Boy, Ike was right about the MIC.
Please tell me how? Do you think Israel will just give up the fight over a few billion dollars? The USA yearly aid amounts to 1% of Israel GNP.
What percentage of the Israeli government’s budget does it amount to?
There is currently no hope of the American federal government reforming itself. The only solution is to start voting for fringe candidates (or rather what the Mainstream Media perceives as “fringe candidates”) from both parties in the hope that states or regions will secede or at least form a relationship more along the lines of a loose confederation. It may not happen in our lifetimes, but, God willing, the Union will shatter.
https://southfront.press/israel-makes-costly-gains-in-gaza/
Arabic language news sites in the Gulf have been reporting that Britain is going to send troops to Gaza to help out, the IDF isn’t doing so well and the casualties are more than they are reporting. I couldn’t find anything on English language sites, sometimes the foreign news gets stuff early so it remains to be seen.
During Cast Lead, the IDF too losses on the ground. I believe 70 or 80 were killed. The main weapons(s) for Israel is the fighter jet firing rockets and dropping 2,000 lb bombs on hospitals.
The director of the New York Office of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, Craig Mokhiber, has resigned. His letter of resignation is unequivocal:
“Once again, we are witnessing a genocide unfolding before our eyes, and the Organization we serve seems powerless to stop it…
What’s more, the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom and much of Europe are completely complicit in this horrific assault.
Not only are these governments refusing to fulfill their treaty obligations to “ensure compliance” with the Geneva Conventions, but they are actively arming the offensive, providing economic support, intelligence, and politically and diplomatically covering up the atrocities committed by Israel.”
I applaud him
So let him resign.
jake, you’re dumb as rocks.
4q
No thanks.
The map doesn’t show any IDF advances from Last week map…!
In the past, Israel has had problems with a ground war with Hamas or Hezbollah. So, Israel will continue to bomb the North to rubble.
33 dead IDF is a good start.
Boy you must have really enjoyed Oct 7. Did you have a party that night?
I mourned the civilian casualties -especially the leftist kibbutzniks – but cheered the deaths of the IDF, as they are well known to kill thousands of unarmed civilians at a time in Gaza even before 10-7.
And boy, you can go fq yourself, you slimy snake.
During the Vietnam war,US conscript troops came back sick in body and mind.Impotent raging leftists blamed them, spat upon them, and called them baby killers. so much for leftists. An IDF soldier is drafted and sent to protect his country from its many enemies, and does not set policy. blame leaders on both sides. Hamas has led its people into hell
The IDF are brutal colonial occupiers of Palestine.
Death to the IDF!
(The “soldiers were spit on” meme is s lie, BTW. The protesters were however correct, as history has proven.
One of the hallmarks of the movement against the US war in Vietnam was its support for the troops in the field and the affiliation of many returning veterans with the movement.
Also, even during the most fervent days of anti-war protest, it seemed that it was not the soldiers whom protesters were maligning. It was the leaders of government, and the top generals—at least, that is how it seemed in memory. One of the most popular chants during the anti-war marches was, “Stop the war in Vietnam, bring the boys home.” You heard that at every peace rally in America. “Bring the boys home.” That was the message. Also, when one thought realistically about the image of what was supposed to have happened, it seemed questionable. So-called “hippies,” no matter what else one may have felt about them, were not the most macho people in the world. Picture a burly member of the Green Berets, in full uniform, walking through an airport. Now think of a “hippie” crossing his path. Would the hippie have the nerve to spit on the soldier? And if the hippie did, would the soldier—fresh from facing enemy troops in the jungles of Vietnam—just stand there and take it?
from a Review of Spitting Imagen by Jerry Lembke
The book also documents efforts of the Nixon Administration to drive a wedge between military service members and the anti-war movement by portraying democratic dissent as a betrayal of the troops.
An academic study into the making and shaping of a collective memory found that evidence of antiwar activists targeting troops was virtually nonexistent. Instead, it found popular memory was manipulated by national security elites and a complicit news media by frequently labeling resistors to U.S. war efforts as “anti-troop”.[5] As observed by Clarence Page after interviewing Lembcke and Greene, “the stories have become so widely believed, despite a remarkable lack of witnesses or evidence, that ironically the burden of proof now falls on the accused, the protesters; not their accusers, the veterans. Antiwar protesters must prove the episodes didn’t happen, instead of the veterans having to prove they did.”

You’re a piece of sh-t Timmy.
“This year, the Science and Security Board of the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists moves the hands of the Doomsday Clock forward, largely (though not exclusively) because of the mounting dangers of the war in Ukraine. The Clock now stands at 90 seconds to midnight—the closest to global catastrophe it has ever been.”

My advice..
It’s no surprise to find a plethora of videos recorded in recent weeks by Israeli soldiers humiliating Palestinian hostages, with even Haaretz reporting how they stripped captives, urinated on them, and burned them with cigarettes. “No one colonises innocently,” Cesaire writes. With every abuse inflicted, “a gangrene sets in” and Israel takes a step closer to barbarism. Someone might want to let Cohen and Montefiore know of the torture, rape, and humiliation happening right under their noses.
I understand your sentiments, truly I do… But wishing death or celebrating their demise, is not adequate to our purpose, since what we are about is true, lasting and JUST PEACE.
I am guilty of same…
Wishing death to an army slaughtering civilians by the tens of thousands is an appropriate and human response.
“You must ‘remember what Amalek has done to you,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admonished on October 28, announcing the “second phase,” a ground invasion, of Israel’s war in Gaza.
This a the utterings of an insane psychopath, an absolute monster.
Amalek, in the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible), is a nation that ambushed the Israelites making their way to the Promised Land. Following the attack, which the Israelites were able to beat back, God instructed that they must never forget and must wage an eternal war until no trace of Amalek’s existence remains. Generations later, King Saul killed all but the Amalekite king, whose descendent, Haman, generations after that, in the story of Purim, plotted to kill all the Jews in Persia.
More Censorship, Antiwar wont survive this…….This publication should be registered as a foreign agent. Its all about Israel right?
I think you need to change your name to Prowar and change your statemnts to……….we stand for mass murder, ethnic cleansing and genocide.
Prowar will silence any and all opposition. Israel is the greatest nation ever. We are all subhumans and have no rights. If we dont like it well we can just die like Palestinians.
THE RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH AND FREE ASSOCIATION IS A FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHT, ITS THE BASIS OF DEMOCRACY.
But not here right? I repeat Prowar will not survive this.
CENSORSHIP IS FASCISM. Everything that Prowar stood for gone, you sold your soul to AIPAC. What a disgrace.
“I think”
Not to all appearances.
I repeat what a disgrace. The more you suppress opposition to Israel’s atrocities the worse you look.
The more you scream Russia is the aggressor the more bigoted and racist you look.
If I’d ever done either of those things, you might have a point.
Since I haven’t ever done either of those things, you don’t.
On September 7, 2023, NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in a presentation to the European Parliament, formally acknowledged that: “the war didn’t start in February last year. It started in 2014.”
So even in the stark admission of NATO you still insist that Russia is the aggressor. Racist and Bigoted much?
btw we are told the same lies about Hamas, all the babies they beheaded…..no babies died that day.
btw we were told the same lies about Iraq. Saddam Hussein regime was throwing babies out of incubators.
It just goes on and on, they are MONSTERS, PSYCHOPATHS.
Remember when Madeine Albright boasted about the death of 500,000 iraqi children? TOTAL PSYCHOPATH.
I have never “insisted that Russia is the aggressor.”
Evidence is now emerging that up to half the Israelis killed were combatants; that Israeli forces were responsible for some of their own civilian deaths; and that Tel Aviv disseminated false ‘Hamas atrocities’ stories to justify its devastating air assault on Palestinian civilians in Gaza.
As of 23 October, the news outlet has released information on 683 Israelis killed during the Hamas-led offensive, including their names and locations of their deaths on 7 October.
Of these, 331 casualties – or 48.4 percent – have been confirmed to be soldiers and police officers, many of them female. Another 13 are described as rescue service members, and the remaining 339 are ostensibly considered to be civilians.
There are also so far no recorded deaths of children under the age of three, which throws into question the Israeli narrative that babies were targeted by Palestinian resistance fighters. Seven were between the ages of 4 and 7, and nine between the ages of 10 and 17.
Al Jazeera published an open letter of solidarity with the Palestinian people signed by over 300 Ukrainian scholars, activists and researchers.
https://www.aljazeera.com/opinions/2023/11/8/ukrainian-letter-of-solidarity-with-the-palestinian
The signatories declared: “Palestinians have the right to self-determination and resistance against Israel’s occupation, just like Ukrainians have the right to resist Russian invasion. . .
“We reject the Ukrainian government statements that express unconditional support for Israel’s military actions, and we consider the calls to avoid civilian casualties by Ukraine’s [Ministry of Foreign Affairs] belated and insufficient. . . .
“We also reject the revival of the “war on terror” rhetoric used by the
US and EU to justify war crimes and violations of international law that have undermined the international security system and caused countless deaths, and has been borrowed by other states, including Russia for the war in Chechnya and China for the Uighur genocide. Now Israel is using it to carry out ethnic cleansing. . . .
“We call on the Ukrainian government to condemn the use of
state-sanctioned terror and humanitarian blockade against the Gazan civilian population and reaffirm the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination. We also call on the Ukrainian government to condemn deliberate assaults on Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. . . .
“We call on the international media to stop pitting Palestinians and
Ukrainians against each other, where hierarchies of suffering perpetuate racist rhetoric and dehumanise those under the attack. . . .
“We have witnessed the world uniting in solidarity for the people of
Ukraine and we call on everyone to do the same for the people of
Palestine.”
On September 7, 2023, NATO’s Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in a presentation to the European Parliament, formally acknowledged that: “the war didn’t start in February last year. It started in 2014.”
The United States of Atrocities will choke on Moscow’s terms for peace in Ukraine. Make no mistake its a huge defeat for Nazism and NATO.
The 300 Ukrainian scholars and activists sum up my position. The spirit of empire lives in the Kremlin as well as the White House.
The spirit of liberation lives in Ukraine as well as Gaza.
You are wrong. It is Donbass where liberation lives as well as Gaza. The war started in 2014 with an ethnic cleansing campaign of the Donbass. Just like we have an ethnic cleansing campaign in Gaza.
You cant support ethnic cleansing in the Donbass and decry ethnic cleansing in Gaza. Thats hypocritical and racist.
I know you just hate Russia so much…….but not racist at all right?
“You cant support ethnic cleansing in the Donbass and decry ethnic cleansing in Gaza.”
I agree. And I oppose ethnic cleansing in both places.
I don’t hate Russia at all. And “Russian” is not a race.
Russian are Slavic. Generally Slavs are subdivided into East Slavs (chiefly Russians, Ukrainians, and Belarusians), West Slavs (chiefly Poles, Czechs, Slovaks, and Wends, or Sorbs), and South Slavs (chiefly Serbs, Croats, Bosnians, Slovenes, Macedonians, and Montenegrins).
Well, SOMEONE is obviously obsessed with race here. And it obviously isn’t me.
Just giving detail. when i refer to ethnic Russians i mean historically Slavic. This is important historically to understand this distinction. Putin in Ukraine is fighting for the Russian world (Slavic world) which includes the Ukraine.
Putin is fighting to maximize the Russian regime’s discretionary power.
But to the extent that you insist on making it about race, you’re essentially saying he’s the Grand Kleagle of the Moscow Ku Klux Klan. I don’t agree.
Of course you wont agree you are to racist and bigoted to listen.
Putin himself has stated his aims, objections and reasons many times. The Russian population support Putin’s position and literally demand he protect the Russian speaking people from ethnic cleansing and genocide.
Once you understand this geopolitical perspective then you will clearly understand Putin’s position. But you wont you just hold onto your racism and bigotry.
You’ve publicly proclaimed yourself a Slavic racial supremacist. I neither hate Slavs nor think they’re special (although any ancestry that produces, um, me is pretty cool, I guess).
You convincing yourself that Putin is magically different from every other politician in history and really cares about the ethnic group you’re obsessed with doesn’t make me a racist or a bigot.
There is no cure for stupid. I said i respect and understand the Russian people.
No person race or ethnicity is above any other. Every post you make just makes you look more racist and more bigoted.
And yes Putin is different from other world leaders, pure statement of fact.
I guess if preferring peace to war makes me “racist and bigoted,” you’re right.
In the past, Putin has been different from other gang shot-callers (“world leaders”) in that he’s been more realistic and less inclined to make make poor decisions when it comes to foreign military misadventures. The Ukraine fiasco is out of character for him.
The SMO is entirely within character for Putin. He warned us not to attack the Donbass. He warned us ethnic cleansing of the Donbass was a red line.
Well, why didn’t you listen, then?
