President Biden on Sunday told Congress to “stop playing games” and authorize the additional $24 billion in Ukraine aid that he’s requested, which would bring total US spending on the proxy war to about $137 billion.
Biden’s comments came after Congress passed a stopgap funding bill at the last minute on Saturday to avert a partial government shutdown that did not include money for Ukraine. The White House wanted the $24 billion in Ukraine war spending to be included in the bill.
“We cannot under any circumstances allow American support for Ukraine to be interrupted,” Biden said. “We have time, not much time, and there’s an overwhelming sense of urgency … The vast majority of both parties — Democrats and Republicans, Senate and House — support helping Ukraine and the brutal aggression that is being thrust upon them by Russia. Stop playing games, get this done.”
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) stripped Ukraine spending from the stopgap bill due to opposition from a small but loud minority of House Republicans who are against the proxy war. House Democrat leadership said they expect McCarthy to call a separate vote on Ukraine aid.
Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) said on Saturday night that McCarthy “made a side Ukraine deal with Democrats and didn’t tell House Republicans” until after the stopgap bill was passed. President Biden also said on Sunday that he expects “the Speaker to keep his word and secure the passage of support for Ukraine at this critical moment.”
Gaetz, who has been a staunch opponent of the proxy war in Ukraine, has been publicly feuding with McCarthy and said on Sunday that he plans to move forward with an effort to unseat the speaker. “I do intend to file a motion to vacate against Speaker McCarthy this week,” Gaetz told CNN. “I think we need to rip off the Band-Aid. I think we need to move on with leadership that’s trustworthy.”
While Gaetz and other Republicans have made it difficult for Biden to get more money to spend on Ukraine, the majority of Congress still supports the proxy war, and the $24 billion is expected to easily pass once brought to a vote. But opposition is growing, and it will likely become harder and harder for the US to keep fueling the war as the conflict drags on.
Biden isn’t worried about shutting down the U.S. government, as long as the Ukraine money laundering scheme continues. This shows how little Congress represents the American people. No wonder Washington is terrified of populism.
Real populism would mean the death of a lot of these cretins.
Biden can go pound salt over this BS.
Good one and I agree with the notion, but he’ll just write a check. It’s not like real money. Reminds me of “Scott Ritter: ‘Two-Front War: Biden’s Mouth is Writing Checks the US Military Can’t Cash.'” (Sarcasm)
You can almost see Lockheed and Raytheon fighting over his strings.
“Biden Tells Congress ‘Stop Playing Games’ and Pass New Ukraine Aid”
Joey Biden thinks that he is a dictator who can rule through Presidential orders and command any senile silly action he wants.
Joey Biden and his puppet master obama are the most dangerous people in the history of America.
Pretty equal with their partners, the neocons, in the GOP. They are one and the same. Supposedly there is already an agreement to close the border and continue sick amounts of money to Ukraine.
I did the math on this. Neocon = Neolib. …You want me to show my work? …Okay… It’s like finding two Starbucks across the street from each other. …That’s not math? I know… I told you I failed math in high school. (Sarcasm)
There actually is a longer list of canidates.
I am going to Make Certain that ANYONE I VOTE For has a clean slate and did not vote to keep this sh-t up…
If there is NO ONE?…
I’ll write my own name in.
Don’t these people have ANY NEW IDEAS?
NO THANK YOU BYEDONE!
I’ll vote for you.
Two votes for Donna.
Three.
Donna? Are you planning to quit your cheerleader job? LOL. Remember when we voted for you as our cheerleader? I would vote for you as President, but I would make a really ugly cheerleader. How about you, Wars? Ready to fill Donna’s big shoes? (Just kidding! I swear!)
+ one more…
They have new ideas on how to swindle the taxpayer
Now is the perfect time to tell your reps to vote against any more money for the war, and instead call for diplomacy and a ceasefire.
My rep is an ex-general.
More impressive than my Rep, who used to be a chicken hawk on Foghorn Leghorn. (Sarcasm) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Heneryhawk.jpg#/media/File:Heneryhawk.jpg
Good, he might well respond to the facts that victory is not defined or realistically achievable on the course we’re on, and that Ukraine has little to no relevance to US security.
One could hope. But not this guy.
Calling usually means nothing. The streets are unavoidable displays.
They will smile at you and when they are iut having drinks at a Washington watering hole tell stories and laugh at our naivete.
The majority of the people in the USA oppose further aid to Ukraine. The VAST majority in Congress favor giving more aid to Ukraine. This isn’t a government that represents the will of the population. Neither does it represent the interests of the population. It hasn’t for a very long time.
We don’t have a Representative Democracy. We don’t have a Constitutional Republic either. We have a alliance of special interests that rule us and a political class that serves those special interests and enriches itself by extraction of wealth from productive people.
So… we are ruled through a fraudulent democracy. Awareness of this fact puts pressure of those that rule. They will either react with more attempts to control or do the extend and pretend thing: that the population has a say. That last gives some leverage to mitigate the damage the rulers do to us and the world.
The majority of the people in the USA oppose further aid to Ukraine.
And this after months and months of propaganda about this war and years and years of propaganda about Russia. Actually, pretty amazing.
I really wish you were both correct. But why do I feel like we’re only one ridiculously stupid false flag from the opposite? (Sarcasm)
Since when does the voice of the voter have anything to do with how this country is run.
Perhaps the last decent president was FDR.How can any country survive with 80 years of incompetent leadership? Is it any wonder that the country is falling apart? If we cannot change our path we will accelerate our extinction.
FDR? You mean the POTUS that violated the Constitution numerous times including the incarceration of 120,000 Japanese Americans.
Surprised to hear you say that. Other than Woodrow Wilson, he’s the one that started us on the path to Socialism. Also, the illegal confiscation of Gold robbed people of their wealth. There are other things but I’m surprised you would consider him a good president.
FDR had some flaws. he started WW2 and interned some legal citizens. But he also got Social Security and Unemployment Insurance passed without which many people would have starved. No American President is innocent of crimes against humanity. It is the nature of the beast. One must pick which poison.
To recall a quote from my long ago past in comment to your premise”no shit Dick Tracy”.Is anyone surprised at the actions of the Biden administation and its stooges.
I haven’t been surprised at the actions of the Biden administration and its stooges OR the the previous administrations and those stooges.
That doesn’t mean that I’m not outraged at what these criminals do.
That is also true of the NATO members, UK, France and Germany.
Exactly. We are all in the same boat… and that boat is being
sunk.
I expect the White House to walk back this statement. Joey forgot the word unprovoked. Can’t have the basis for the propaganda to be left out.
I was thinking maybe more like WH will stumble back this statement, but yeah 😉
He couldn’t read a nursery rhyme without screwing it up. He would probably say that he went up the hill with Jill to fetch a pail of water, and had to kick the crap out of Cornpop along the way.

FJB the most hated POS ever to steal the office of President.
IMHO it is a tie with Trump and Obama both are and were worthless and committed great crimes against the citizens
Few to none in the MSM dare to write that Ukraine under Zelensky has become somewhat like Iran under its last Shah. That was the Shah’s survival hinged on foreign funding and weapons. Sure, the Shah had to fight domestic enemies whereas Ukraine fights a foreign enemy but the dependency on foreign aid and eventually foreign commands may also begin to unlock Ukrainian nationalism and a dictatorship as it did in Iran. How much longer will the Banderites accept a factual stalemate in the Donbass and a Russian Crimea?
And let us not forget that the Shah remained immensely popular here even after he was kicked out of Iran.
And the rainy season in Ukraine will start soon. To help Ukraine we should perhaps produce the mobile all-weather Soviet T34 tank for them but with a more powerful cannon.
137 Billion and more coming to wage war against a country that has not done anything against the US.Sounds like Iraq,Vietnam and Afganistan with China in their gunsights. With our own society and culture crumbling could not some serious resources have been thrown at our problems on the home front. we need massive expenditures for Housing,Roads Bridges,Schools as well as Jobs, better medical care for all to survive under the constant threat of another epidemic. Our political and judicial systems are both broken beyond repair. We have social ills like Drugs,Gambling,RACISM that need to be challenged. Where and when does our collective misery stop under the present system of government stop?
Looks like Biden is hooked on his addiction to praise from the little Nazi who pulls his strings. What a pathetic creature.
Defunding Ukraine would save thousands from dying for this lie.
He’s forgotten his signature, “Come on, Man!” to preface “Stop playing games!” making for a much diminished blue-collar locution and dramatically signalling his cognative decline. A perfect emblem of the decline of Western Bourgeois Civilisation.
“Come on, Man!” “Stop playing games!” WWIII is not gonna start itself! (Sarcasm)
You just reminded me of this cutting article I recently dug up before msm became monochrome in propaganda:
“proletarian minstrel act”
A Guardian article from 2019:
Biden is the Unionmade of politicians. The former vice-president is taking great care to dress up his new candidacy in a blue-collar costume; as Andrew Epstein puts it, he is an “aesthetic populist”. His kickoff rally was on Monday in a union hall in Pittsburgh, where the president of the United Steelworkers of America promised his members would be present “wearing their USW gear”.
The notional blue-collar appeal of Joe from hard-luck Scranton was widely understood to be one of the main reasons that Barack Obama – famously the effete “wine track” candidate – selected him as a running mate. But where does this appeal come from? Biden’s not a scion of wealth, but he grew up in the middle class: his father was a used-car salesman, not a factory worker. At no point in his career has Biden proven willing to take the slightest political risk on behalf of workers. His appearances in union halls occur when he needs something from labor. On the other hand, when Biden went to vacation in the Hamptons during the 2011 Verizon strike, workers in the area sought him out “just to possibly get a show of support, a thumb’s-up, a head nod, anything” – to no avail. That same year in Wisconsin, labor leaders specifically asked Biden to come to rally their resistance to the brutal, ultimately successful attack by Scott Walker; Biden declined. In fact, I can find reports of only two instances of Biden appearing on a picket line or otherwise supporting embattled workers at any point in his very long public life: once in Iowa, during his 1987 presidential campaign, and just this month in Boston. Now, his first major presidential fundraiser is being hosted by the founder of one of the country’s leading anti-union law firms. The man running to be labor’s champion is sponsored by someone who has made millions choking the life out of the labor movement.
Nor does Biden have a public policy record favorable to the working class. In 1977-1978, during unions’ big push for labor law reform, he vacillated for months and sabotaged the proposal with public criticism. He voted for Nafta and supported the Trans-Pacific Partnership. He authored the punishing 2005 bankruptcy bill, a reward to creditors and punishment to debtors. Worse still, he has been one of the main legislative architects of mass incarceration, a regime that has devastated the heavily policed and punished American working class….Unions closer to politicians than to their members are unions waiting to die. As labor’s fortunes have declined, so has the imaginative scope of many labor leaders. …This is all the worse in a moment that invites broad and radical vision. More workers went on strike in 2018 than in any year since 1986. Over 90% of those who did worked in either healthcare or education – sectors that were not included in the mid-century “basic bargain”. What’s remarkable is that Biden’s proletarian minstrel act has worked for this long. When he dropped out of the 1988 presidential race, it was after getting caught plagiarizing a monologue by the British Labour party leader, Neil Kinnock, on his coalminer roots. Biden’s spokesperson explained that, while Biden had no immediate relations who were coalminers, the “people that his ancestors grew up with in the Scranton region, and in general the people of that region were coalminers.” In fact, Biden did have an ancestor in the coal industry, Patrick F Blewitt, who died in 1911. But he wasn’t a miner – he was a boss.

Yes, the Neil Kinnock affection was Biden’s piece de resistence.

Thanks for the post.
I knew he was not what he claimed to be, but I did not know he was that bad.
Thanks a lot.
The Globalists thought Joe would be the perfect guy, do and say anything they want him to as long as he gets his cut and gets to play president. Only problem was they didn’t figure how quickly Joe’s brain would melt down, or then again…
Does it matter? As long as they can put on a show for a few minutes. Presidents are just frontmen chosen by plutocrats and their intelligence apparatus.
That’s correct. They’re not the real power running things.
I found this hilarious/sad at the same time:
The Lesser of Two Evils is a Democracy for Psychopaths

Touché
Well, shoot, if the vast majority of Congress agrees, pass a straight funding bill with just this item.
Do we get a say?
“Biden Tells Congress ‘Stop Playing Games’ and Pass New Ukraine Aid”
Senile insane tyrant with a drugged out son and a dead son who was another grifter.
“I’ll do the game playin’ around here….”
Biden needs to account first for the money already spend and the use for more.
What has he gained and what does he expect to gain with more money? That is not too much to ask. What is the war about, why no negotiations to end it?
“We cannot under any circumstances allow American support for Ukraine to be interrupted,” Why not? Answer: it will look bad for Biden re-election campaign to have made such a fuss over Ukraine only to drop them like a stone at the end. Well, Biden should have thought of that before following the neo-con advisors over the cliff.
Aid to Ukraine means many things:
We can send stuff DoD already owns and holds in reserve stockpiles;
We can buy stuff from other countries, and deliver that to Ukraine;
We can buy new stuff, intending to send it when it is manufactured, often years from now;
We can send cash.
When we send cash, some buys weapons, some pays salaries and other government expenses, and some is just stolen. Note we now already pay almost all of their salaries and other expenses, because their taxes now yield very little revenue from their busted economy.
What we still have now is old stuff in storage, but we’ve sent the best of it already.
We already bought everything we could from other countries, the shelves are bare.
What we order can’t be delivered anytime soon, and so it is not as much use as we pretend it is.
We don’t have much cash left authorized to send. We ran through what was authorized, and now have not yet authorized more. Presidential drawdown authority is not cash, it is authority to send old stuff from storage, so what is left of that does not solve the cash problem.
Apart from paying their bills and letting them steal, there is not much more we can actually do. Bluff and posture, but not actually much of any use. We ran through all the actual stuff we can lay hands on.
