With tensions simmering in eastern Ukraine, US media outlets are happy to push the narrative that Russia is the aggressor and is preparing to invade its neighbor. These reports ignore the fact that the Donetsk and Lugansk republics in the eastern Donbas region declared independence from Ukraine back in 2014 in response to a US-backed coup.
Since 2014, the US has provided Ukraine with about $2 billion in military equipment and supported its fight against the Donetsk and Lugansk separatists. Supporting a war on Russia’s border is an incredible provocation, but these facts are lost on the Western press, and some outlets seem eager to see the situation escalate. On Monday, Politico published a report that asked if it was time for Ukraine to deploy weapons provided by the US to face Moscow.
The Politico report reads: “As Russia amasses the highest number of troops on Ukraine’s border since 2014, the question for Kyiv now becomes: Is it time to start putting US-made weapons in the field?”
The report explains how President Trump took a step his predecessor was unwilling to take and sold hundreds of Javelin anti-tank missiles to Ukraine. President Obama chose not to give Kyiv offensive weapons for fear of provoking Moscow. This fact contradicts the conspiracy theory that Trump was beholden to Russian President Vladimir Putin, which was pushed hard by Politico. One of the co-authors of the Ukraine report, Natasha Bertrand, built her career on pushing the Steele Dossier, a now-discredited document that made unverified claims about the Russian government and the Trump campaign in 2016.
The Javelin missiles were sold under the condition that they would be stored in western Ukraine, far from the front lines of the Donbas war. But the weapons can be deployed anywhere in the country and can be used as long as Kyiv can frame their use as “defensive” in nature.
Two unnamed former US military officials told Politico that the current situation with Russia is “exactly the kind of scenario the Javelin sale was designed to counter.”
The Biden administration has already approved a $125 million military aid package for Ukraine that includes armed patrol boats, and another $150 million is expected to be provided sometime this year. Over the past few weeks, the US has delivered multiple military shipments to Ukraine as it hypes the movement of Russian troops inside Russia.
On top of the military support from the US, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky is pushing for a NATO membership. Even though Ukraine being a NATO member could lead to the US and Russia going to war, which should be an unthinkable scenario, Zelensky’s request is receiving favorable coverage in the Western media.
US war build up is proving women are every bit as violent as men and their theoretical superiority in social sensitivity caring is total BS.
Which women are calling for war?
Please note in my younger years I was normal man attracted to women and now have no grudge other than not believing the woke female sensitivity ideology. So, start with the old timers Madeline Albright and Hillary Clinton, then there’s the one who picked the chocolate billionaire to be president of Ukraine, Victoria Nuland, next are all the female reps and senators who vote for war budgets or sanctions, then that cold eyed heavy make up platinum blond who ran the Homeland security. Don’t forget Margaret Thatcher. I don’t really keep track. Most US citizens I encounter are purposefully ignorant of US terrorism and piracy and half the people are women.
After years of avoiding NPR for their warmongering, I reluctantly turned them on. Within seconds, I received a barrage of misinformation on Syria, Russia, China, and the unsubstantiated “Climate Crisis/Emergency!” The people they had on were relentless and blood thirsty. If this is NPR today, I cannot imagine what will happen to the US, my beloved country, in 10 or 20 years!
NPR does get amusing sometimes, now that they don’t do their usual daily anti-Trump book reviews. The other day NPR reported that it had a correspondent go to Xinjiang, met with a man who had lost his daughter years ago to the dastardly Chinese. But he had a video of the daughter, which he showed to the NPR shill. Then the next day while walking around the city, there was the man’s daughter standing in front of the NPR guy! He couldn’t believe it! (I didn’t either.). . .Imagine that.
I agree. You are a better man. I switch channels immediately when I detect propaganda. This time, the crazed lies were coming so fast while I was driving that I couldn’t switch the channel fast enough. I can’t take listening to their lies any more.
Z has been forced by President Putin to commit to the Minsk Accord. It came about when he met with Erdogan because Putin had already tricked Erdogan into laying down the Law to him. There is a meeting coming up between Macron, Merkel, Z and Putin to lay out the Roadmap for getting it done. The Nazis in Kiev and the Neocons in Washington want War so Z may have to flee for his life to Poland.
Yes, the US is avoiding the simple solution to the neo-Nazi anti-Russian policy in Donbass, as called for by Minsk 2. That would be Donbass as an autonomous zone, a small part of Ukraine. It wouldn’t be unique — currently there are 121 autonomous regions in 40 countries . .here
The people of Eastern Ukraine never liked the government they got after the US funded and supported the overthrow in 2014 of the one they had elected.

It also contradicts the silliness that Trump wanted better relations with Russia. Weapons sales were all that mattered. To anyone.

MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russia on Tuesday called the United States an adversary and told U.S. warships to stay well away from Crimea “for their own good”, calling their deployment in the Black Sea a provocation designed to test Russian nerves. . .here
This is no more than the breathless reporting of weapon effects we’ve seen over and over again since Wolf Blitzer on the rooftops of Baghdad for the opening of the Persian Gulf War. The press loves it.
It also keeps the money rolling in to the military-industrial complex and its shareholders. Some of it is then passed on to members of Congress and the Senate in the form of campaign contributions to make sure they keep some kind of war going somewhere.
When NATO puts troops in countries bordering Russia that’s okay, but when Russia puts troops anywhere near Ukraine that’s terrible. Such hypocrites.
