US Expanding Use of Deadlier Drone Attacks

The Obama administration has expanded the drone war, with active unmanned Predator and Reaper vehicles armed with a 108-pound precision-strike missiles known as Hellfire II wreaking blood and carnage in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, and elsewhere. The record of “precision,” though, has not been stellar, with civilians casualties and collateral damage common with each strike. But they’re about to get even more deadly. A new missile from Lockheed Martin is being fielded for these vehicles, designated the AGM-114R, or Hellfire Romeo. It is tipped with a “multi-purpose” warhead behind its domed nose, designed to knock out “hard, soft and enclosed targets” with a single Hellfire missile load
