I will, however, let my comments remain as a defense of shari'a in general in the sense that if a land is governed by those laws it is incumbent on the citizens of that land to abide by them, change them, or leave. In no way do I condone the punishment of innocent parties and the more spectacular cases of shari'a being appallingly misapplied seem to get the lion's share of the spotlight, showing shari'a in the worst possible light. When applied with prudence and careful deliberation, shari'a can be a wonderful system to live by- but, as with most any other system, when applied with personal agendas and reckless regard for personal rights it can be most frightening.
