His version of events agrees with NATO’s, and since NATO reportedly killed two others in his unit, he plans to flee to Pakistan or Iran.

Our people say the chopper was hit in mid-air on the way in, and was on fire when it crashed. Ergo, it couldn't have been on the ground when shot.
If the Chinook was on the ground long enough for the Chinook Shooter to get into firing position (note: midnight at 100 yards with an RPG….. okay) and call for authorization, that's more than enough time for every passenger on board to get off the bird and be long gone. If they weren't off the bird in a matter of seconds, in the middle of a firefight… why?
The wreckage was supposedly so widespread that it took four days to police it all up- that doesn't sound like a grounded chopper coming apart on the ground, even if it did blow up. A large debris footprint usually means a heavy impact or mid-air destruction.
According to our reports, the dead were so badly burned it took days to identify them- even when we had all the medical and dental records and all the bodies. If the chopper had been on the ground, doesn't it stand to reason at least one or two would have gotten out, even if they were injured?
All in all, the stories DON'T jibe, and at this point I'm not sure which one to put more stock in. Is the Army covering up a major tactical blunder (I'm still not clear on why such a diverse elite force was standing by for a routine smash-and-grab by the Rangers) or is a Taliban foot soldier trying to make a name for himself? OR BOTH?

Why is everyone surprised by the poetic license employed in the Afghani's tale of the downing of the chopper? The little guy is David and the US Seals were Goliath. How such a powerful, mightily-equipped opponent was brought down by such mediocre weapons will become folklore, much like the David and Goliath story. And when the USA comes to its senses and leaves Afghanastan, it might even become part of their religious teachings.
The problem with the story is that it confirms the absurd NATO claim that they had tracked down and killed the Taliban who had brought down the Chinook. "Local intelligence" . . . if you believe that "local intelligence" can simultaneously identify and pinpoint two anonymous men hot-footing it to another province so closely that an airstrike can be called in on them – and also bag some other Taliban as a bonus -, I've got some real estate in the Everglades to sell you. The convergence of "facts" in this article – published in the London Times!!! – points to a FedGov information operation. Do you really think a Times affiliated reporter, viz Miles Amoore, found this guy and interviewed him? The entire narrative reads like a Western combat narrative (i.e., written by an American) with a veneer of Eastern "poetic" license smeared over it. It's not convincing.
