Pakistan Raids Camp of Group Blamed for Mumbai

Pakistani forces raided a camp being used by Lashkar-e Taiba (LeT) in the Pakistani-held portion of Kashmir today. Details of the raid were unclear as the military sealed off the entire area, but an official for a local charity with LeT ties said the forces have taken over the camp.

The LeT has been publicly blamed by multiple parties for last month’s Mumbai attacks which killed over 170 people. Their responsibility has been given considerable credence in spite of the fact that they publicly condemned the attacks while they were going on and denied any link to anyone involved in them.

The Pakistani government has been under increasing pressure from both long-time rival India and the United States to act quickly against those accused of perpetrating one of the largest terror attacks in Indian history. Pakistan has repeatedly refused to hand over suspects to the Indian government, citing lack of evidence. The Pakistani military has yet to comment on the raid.
