Congressman Dana Rohrabacher (R – CA) has announced that he is introducing a bill into the House of Representatives calling for the independence of Pakistan’s largest province, Balochistan, from the rest of Pakistan.
The bill, co-sponsored by Reps. Louie Gohmert (R – TX) and Steve King (R – IA) follows a subcommittee meeting led by Rohrabacher reporting on human rights abuses in the area, and op-eds co-written by Rohrabacher and Gohmert calling for an independent Balochistan as a way to harm Taliban interests in the region.
The bill cites the former Princely State of Kalat as justification for independence, saying Balochistan was “an independently governed entity known as the Baluch Khanate of Kalat.” Interestingly, the Khanate of Kalat was not traditionally a Baluch kingdom, but a Brahui one, whose territory was slowly eroded by an influx of ethnic Baluchs from neighboring Makran.
The bill will likely further antagonize the Pakistani government, which wasn’t too keen on the House holding hearings in the first place. It is unclear how the House even theoretically could impose such a split on a foreign nation.
So suppose the bill passes, will the congress declare war on Pakistan? Would these great Republicans be willing to send their sons and daughters to fight there? Why not send these folks to Afghanistan first, so they can at least get a taste of what they are proposing.

For a moment I agree with you to free Balochistan as an Independent country.But to do that I would like you first Go after India to free Kashmir since UN resolution already exist, where it has been more than 60 years of repression and terrible Human Rights Violations and equally Mr.Congoman why not bring resolution against Israel for Palestinian Independence from the most brutal Regime on the face of the eath,your very ideal lapbitch Israel.
Balochistan has an elected Provincial Assembly,proper representation in Federal Assembly who are very much capable of resolving theire internal issues.
If you are right that in the past it was part of some kingdom then how do you justify America belonging to you,why don't you give California and Texas and the rest back to who really it owns.

How about a bill for Palestinian Independence? Baluchistan is part of Pakistan and not the business of the united snakes of Usrael.
WTF??? You want an indication of how fugged up things are in Congress? Who do they think they are? How would they feel if the Pakistani Parliament passed a bill demanding that California break Orange County out of the state or Texas give San Antonio back to the Mexicans? Outraged, I'm sure.
How do people like this get elected? I thought we were a country of educated, reasonably intelligent people? Seriously? Anyone care to explain to this poor, old curmudgeon how this bill is going to better the lives in these Congressmens' districts? How is this going to improve the lives of Americans? Clearly they are trying to impress members of their districts who are pissy at Pakistan. However, the US has certain problems which one would think these highly placed and highly paid officials — elected representatives of the people — would feel duty bound to attend to, since that's what they were elected and paid to do, not this astonishing and ridiculous hoo hah. Outrageous.

Hopefully Pakistan will liberate Virginia and Maryland from DC. Then crush it.
The Baloch confederacy refused to join Pakistan and Pakistan agreed to status quo (respecting Treaties between Kalat and the British India providing a military base and leaving it autonomous) pending talks. Both the lower and upper house of the Baloch parliament passed resolutions insisting on independence. Rather than negotiate, Pakistani troops invaded and forcibly annexed Balochistan a year later. Since then the Baloch have been fighting for independence, and have been massacred, bombed, starved by Pakistanis. Pakistan is also encouraging more numerous Punjabis to migrate into Balochistan. A conclave of all tribal elders reiterated the demand for independence just a few years back.
