In a statement issued today, NATO reported that troops have killed at least 115 “insurgents” in an attack on the Kunar Province. One NATO soldier was also slain in the attacks, but there were no reports of any Afghan soldier deaths.
The offensive was a “series of multiple, smaller operations” since last weekend, insisted the NATO spokesman, saying that the operation included a number of long-range bombers.
Attacks against the Kunar Province in recent days have included offensives from militants operating inside Pakistan. The Pakistani government has also complained of offensives against their villages near the border from militants operating in Kunar.
The offensive centered around the Ghazi District, which borders Pakistan. The governor of the province, Fazlullah Wahidi, insisted that the killings had “brought peace” to the province.

Actually, the sad reality is that they did kill 115 people. More than than probably. However, what they're not saying is that they were all civilians. Reading the complete opposite of what they're saying is not the way to know what they're about. Reading between the lines is what it's all about.

Negative. I was involved in this operation and I can assure you that none were civilians. And if you could see the faces of the locals as they celebrated every time we pushed the Taliban back you would have a different outlook on this whole situation. I have been fighting this war for 10 years. Ever since I was 18. The people of Afghanistan mean the world to me. I love them like they were my own family. I have been involved in operations all over Eastern Afghanistan that has liberated villages and districts from Taliban hold….
The Taliban storms schools and murders teachers in front of the children because they do not want the people to be educated. They MURDER little girls just to inflict fear on the people. They beat teenage girls into submission and turn them into suicide bombers. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. Me and my comrades would happily lay down our lives for these people. The whole province here would spit in your face if they heard how you have bashed the men that have brought security and peace to their villages. If you truly believe what you say, then come here and take a look for yourselves. Please come here and see. It will change your mind and change your life. But I'm sure that you'd much rather stay in the comfort of your home, and come up with fantasies about what you think it is like here.
