At least ten people were killed today when Somali troops opened fire on civilians at a famine refugee camp in Mogadishu. Witnesses say that rioting began when the troops, loyal to the self-proclaimed Somali government, attempted to steal the food rations.
The move to steal the corn rations provided by the WFP sparked a rush by the refugees to get some of the food, at which point refugees say “they fired on us as if we were their enemy.” The troops then took the food aid and left the camp.
The Somali government defended the actions, saying that they were simply protecting the food from looting by removing it from the refugee camp. The refugees, however, say they are seeing precious little of the food being airlifted into the country and that the rare occasions when food arrives in the camp just end in violence, like today.
The growing famine has many Somalis attempting to flee the country, but even those that make it to the border are not safe, with reports that a militia backed by the Kenyan government has been attacking and robbing refugees attempting to flee into Kenya.
The puppet Somali government is collection thieves.Every TFG President and Prime Minister has become a multimillionaire. The scam starts from the top at donor countries, where money skimmed,followed by skimming by IGAD and finally by TFG. None of the allocated reaches the Somali government and they are contracted to collect monies from general populace by any means necessary. This arrangement cannot last and therefore, in a waiting game any other viable opponent
will win out and this case, the conditions favor Al-Shabab.
The situation in Somalia is surprisingly similar to that in Afghanistan. In the sense that you have a western-backed puppet government which is corrupt to the bone, it's armed forces are comprised of thugs and in the eyes of majority of the local population is seen as illegitimate, incompetent and loathed.
And then you have a local resistance movement (al-Shabaab) branded terrorist by the west & MSM. Who control vast majority of the country & contrary to popular western beliefs & wishful-thinking, has popular local support & actually take care of their country-folk. Whom they don't abuse, murder, rape & steal from. Unlike the foreign troops who do.
