Clinton: US Won’t Continue Pakistan Aid Without ‘Changes’

Says Pakistan Must Take Certain 'Steps' to Maintain Aid

Fresh off of Pakistan announcement of a “confidence-building measure” of promising to issue three dozen additional visas to CIA spies, the Obama Administration is once again demanding Pakistan make serious changes to its policy.

This time it is Secretary of State Hillary Clinton issuing the warning, saying that the administration is “not prepared to continue providing” military aid at the level of $3 billino annually without the concessions from the Zardari government.

Though this is an unsurprising announcement – indeed in the wake of the Osama bin Laden raid a number of Congressmen are demanding a full halt to aid, it comes without any indications from Secretary Clinton as to what those concessions are supposed to be.

In all likelihood, among the demands would be a Pakistani military invasion of the North Waziristan Agency. Though Pakistan’s government has repeatedly said they will do so on their own terms, the US has repeatedly demanded an immediate invasion and lashed the Pakistani government for refusing to attack the region.
