Despite harsh rebukes from US officials, Argentine President Cristina Kirchner today announced her nation is joining Brazil is recognizing Palestine as a “free and independent” state. Uruguay has also issued a statement supporting the position.
The South American nations are recognizing Palestine as a nation along the 1967 borders, meaning they view the entire West Bank and Gaza Strip, including occupied East Jerusalem, as parts of Palestine.
Israeli officials were quick to express “regret” at the announcements, with Israel’s Foreign Ministry saying Brazil had violated the 1995 Oslo Accords in recognizing Palestine.
A number of US officials, including Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R – FL) also condemned the move, describing the recognition of a free Palestine as “severely misguided.” Rep Eliot Engel (D – NY) added that it proved Brazil was in league with Iran and that it remained too irresponsible to consider for a permanent position on the UN Security Council.

Well, according to the November 1947 United Nations Resolution, Palestine was to be partioned into TWO states anyway. So what is the problem ? In fact I personally think that Israel is only entitled to 55% of the former British Mandate, as laid down by the United Nations General Assembly at the time.
The United Nations, like the League of Nations before it, is corrupt, because its constituent governments are corrupt. They gather to haggle and maneuver for self-interest, agreeing like a mafia federation to whatever criminality suits them. The British Imperial elite in 1917 had no business giving Palestine to the J*ws. It wasn't theirs to give, but the arrangement served their imperial needs when they found themselves desperately jammed up in WW1. And the follow on United Nations had no right to further the theft by giving it the appearance of legitimacy — the UN stamp of approval — and by partition. The partition of course was a fraud, as the Zionists were fully prepared at that point for the war (crime) they were going to employ in order to seize all of Palestine.
Now the world is globalized, the US govt thoroughly subverted by Zionist influence, its armies, intelligence services, and treasury, toys of the Israeli right, the Mossad and IDF brazenly killing anyone they want, with contemptuous indifference to what the larger world thinks.
As an American and a J*w I have repeatedly warned about where this is leading, but of course I have been met with boilerplate shrieks of anti-semite and repeatedly censored from posting, even on antiwar.com.

US politician's position doesn't make sense unless you take into account the Israel-first Zionist bias of our politicians. Isn't Abbas supposed to be our friend? Turning on Hamas the way he has you would think the American congressmen would support him instead of leaving him twisting in the wind.

He has nice suits, a luxury armoured automobile, a nice house, a substantial income from a variety of sources, diplomatic privileges that allows him to travel freely. A pawn with perks. At some point he will retire to Amman or London or Virginia. A successful career. He will live to see his grandchildren graduate from elite Western universities and take their place in the world. Hard to argue with that.
He would have to grapple with his conscience for having screwed his country and his people but that doesn't seem to bother him any now so, there's no reason to believe that he will have a sudden attack of conscience later on.
Poor Mr. Engel and Ms. Ros-Lehtinen. They suffer from a group of mental disorders that make them delusional. I believe they are dually afficted with American Exceptionalism and Zionism.

I have read so much about the cry that the arabs attacked Israel in 1948. Israel did not exist when they stated the rebellion so no on attacked Israel They attacked people who were trying to overthrown the exiting government. I just love how immediately our congressmen who happen to be of the Jewish religion put a foreign country's interest above not only their own country's interest but the constituents they represent. What business is it of this congressman to interfere with Brazil and the other south american countries? He should just pay attention to his district. I think also it is high time to test the loyalty of some of these congressmen; either put your country first or become a citizen of the foreign power you adhere to. The only reason this congressman and others like him are opposed to Brazil being a permanent member is they will make decisions on objective analysis like in this situation. When did this congressman become dictator of Brazil in terms of who Brazil wants to be friendly with (Iran). Just because Israel has a problem that is there problem and not the U.S.A s problem.
There already is a Palestinian state, called Jordan. Go figure Argentina and Brasil would recognize "Palestine" what with them harboring Nazis.

About time and i hope others follow Brazil's lead. Our leaders have failed to recognize that this is 2010 and people from different parts of the world are smarter than they were in the 40's and 50's and will not just follow our lead especially when we are wrong. I remember American leaders supporting Apartheid South Africa. I was a kid and knew it was wrong. Most Israelis and Palestinians want to just live a decent life. My heart goes out to them.
